While I was out buying DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 today, I saw the strat guides for Final Fantasy in Gamestation.

They had VII - X all around £12 each and FFXII is £14.99.

Anyways, to the point, are they worth getting? Because (obviously) I have the internet so can easily find info on things and maps etc.

So do the official strat guides explain things in more detail or whatever than what you can find on the net? They could come in handy if I ever lose the net, but I'm not sure about buying them, not sure if I need them or not considering.

Ofcourse, they make good collectors items and what-not, but I'm not sure.

Anyone got any? Are they worth the money?

Internet walkthroughs tend to only follow text, whereas their official walkthroughs (published by Piggbyback, I think) have much flashier layouts that are just generally easier to follow.

I have a few of them and, to be honest, if you can find really clear guides (I'd recommend GameFAQs) then I can't see any point in spending half as much as you did on the game.

I find that going online and searching for walkthroughs help. I think that was already said above, but you know.

Do NOT get IX's. It's useless, especially for those who have no internet access, plus, for those that do, the link apparently which you are meant to look for on help, no longer works. :/

I think it's Piggyback...for IX anyway.

I bought the FFXII one today, been looking through it, and been finding bits of it a tad confusing, but it seems ok.

Only problem I have with it is the optional sidequests are scattered through the main walkthrough. Would've preffered them to be in their own section.

The Omega MKII walkthrough is absolute rubbish aswell, all it says is use protectga, shellga, hastega, faith and bravery. Nothing really to actually help with the battle. hmph.

Apart from that it's alright. All the RG hunts are listed with their locations and what-not, which will come in handy because I've never killed them all.

I've only looked through it mind, haven't actually sat down with control pad in hand, FFXII playing and used it yet, so it could turn out to be pretty good.

Thats not bad prices for walk-throughs. I always get walkthroughs as I dont have internet access, plus its worth it as you get maps, extras and more info then some sites.

I've seen the guides in shops recently aswel, they are about the same price as ones on ebay aswel, so with P&P they'd work out the same...anyway, I'd say they are worth getting, you get all the pretty pictures in the guides aswel D:

The online guides are useful, in some cases more so than the guides >_> But it can get abit irritating staring at a screen of text for ages, at least you can do what you want with a guide and it's summat you can keep for your collection ^^

Although Lisa's right about the guide for IX, Im going through it at the moment and its a waste of time >_>

I use a walkthrough by one Alex Eagleson or something whenever I'm stuck or need help in any way. Those walkthroughs are detailed yet simple and do not contain spoilers (not that that exactly matters after playing the games as many times as I have... :P )

I like having the strategy guides, they're flashy, colorful and I find it helps to have it written down on paper. Somehow, if it's written down on paper, I find that it's easier to follow. Especially when describing where to go, it's easier if they have a nice picture of a map with arrows, rather than you trying to decipher a map someone has made for an internet walk through.

The one benefit I'm getting from the FFXII guide is, it has a thing on the right pages that tells you where you are (Walkthrough, Beastiary etc.) so can just turn the pages until you find you're looking for, instead of scrolling down a ridiculously long text page on the net squinting your eyes away trying to find the section you want.

And P.S, to whoever corrected the spelling of "Strategy" in the thread title, thank you, it was annoying me too  (don't know why I put an "r" in it) :D

if you alread beat the games i like to get the guide just to get any item or anything like that that i missed
