No spoilers. I still haven't finished the game. Just sayin'

I couldn't help but be fascinated with FFXIII and its detail. You can see Vanille's freckles, the curls in Sazh's fro, the cracks in the road and so much cool shit.

I remember being a little bothered (just a little) in X and X-2 (can't really remember XII so fuck that one) about how the characters either float or sink inside stair steps. In XIII, the characters' feet actually step on the nearest step. It's awesome.

What are some of the things you noticed? Keep in mind that I haven't gotten passed the second Barthandelus after Oerba, so don't be like "oh yeah when one of the main characters dies you can see the different shades in their blood~~"

I liked how the character's eyes actually shifted around instead of being frozen in place. Actually, I think if you angle the camera towards them, they stare away. It's so cute that Lightning is camera shy :lew:

Fucking this. This is amazing. And I'm actually training my bitches right now and I shifted the camera around Light's face. She looked like a derp, moving her eyes around non-stop, it was awesome.

everyone knows you end up on gran pulse so i don't think this is spoiler

the amazing thing for me was on my big wide screen tv with a hdml cable that main area on gran pulse you can see for mile you can see animals run in the distaance with detail to! that main area looked real on my tv almost felt like i was going to fall in

Catnip wait until you get to gran pulse prepare to be amazed

Dude, I'm in Gran Pulse.

It's fucken sick. This place is incredibly beautiful. It sort of reminded me of a sweeter Calm Lands, especially with the wolf dudes running around. It really makes me appreciate the work put into this, and if I felt guilty about my mom spending like $70 (I think) on the game, then I would have felt like it was worth it after seeing all this detail, which would have gotten rid of any guilt. It's amazing.

Just amazing.

Hmm maybe these little things could blow my mind, I always love the details in FF's and this sounds extremely interesting...I might give ff13 a chance now.

Your damn right man without the slightest doubt this is the best looking game on the PS3 and XBOX 360 (though I haven't got xbox 360 one).................

every single place has so much couler (except gran pulse just green, but like a million shades of green)..........with the slightest detail around it........I'd say the most beautiful place to look at would be oerba.............The darker places like ma'habara and taijins tower looked a bit worser (but still beautiful) than the brighter places.

WARNING:you may spend time just admiring the view and get caught in battles (it's true)

That sometimes pissed me off in battles and out of battles on the field. I'd just look around and I can't concentrate cause the graphics are siick! :busta:

P.S The FMV's are gorgeus too......

Despite the game's major shortcomings, I think we can all unanimously say that FFXIII is perhaps one of the best looking video games out there. It's now towards the point where the CGI cutscenes and the in-game graphical renders look really similar. I love the sheer amount of detail thrown in as well, and you just appreciate the amount of effort the team has put in to realise this, whether it is the sparkles of Lake Bresha's crystallised surface to the little body movements of the characters when standing stationary. I've also noticed that Lightning's swaying cloak doesn't go through her body as it would happen in many games, so that's a small plus point.

Not all locations are as consistently beautiful as the others though. I do agree that the darker locations are not as joyful to look at. Those mines and the Hanging Edge pop into my mind. I appreciate the detail in the railings/rocks/whatever, but that's where it ends in terms of looks. Brighter locations are certainly a marvel to look at, such as Sunleth. The sunset scenes are my particular favourites as well (Bodhum in the dusk).

Some more criticism I do have as well are directed towards some of the monster designs. I just think that with some of the bosses, they go so overboard with the details that it makes the overall design just so overwhelmingly complicated - which is not always a good thing. I can think of several bosses that are aesthetically lacking in appeal despite great amounts of details.

The Archlyte Stwppe was really well done. There is just so much life. The turtles and all that. I love how you see all the wildlife just running around, Sometimes I stop for the scenery. The Cgi is crazy. Wait till you beat the 2nd Bathandelus you will get such a cool scene. Probably my favorite fmv ever tbh. Also I think XIII had these things as it was the first real FF game on Ps3 and 360. Lets see if Versus can do much better with the monster designs though. I just find them so repettitive in XIII.

This. The scene after the 2nd Bathandelus is like THE BESt THING I"VE EVER SEEN ON A VIDEOGAME EVER! I love how all of the characters have their own personality when they walk. For instance, Vanille's bounce in her step XD. I love Gran Pulse. I'm replaying the game and I'm currently in Gran pulse. The detail in this game is one of the wow factors. I love every detail and the crystalised lake Bresha has to be my altime favorite location! I noticed the camera thing, it's really fun to do ^_^. The only things that are missing for me is, you can see where most character's keep their weapons, but when it comes to Vanille and Hope its a whole different game. Vanilled doesn't keep her weapon in the holds on the back of her skirt (I'm thinking of a cutscene but maybe it's in actual gameplay?). Also You can't really see where Hope stores his boomerang...

I'd agree Lake Bresha is definately one of the most beautiful places there.............It was a dissappointment that you couldn't go back to places like lake bresha and Nautilas etc.................. :sad3:

I'm replaying the game to just to revisit places...........

Lets see if Versus can do much better
Hmm versus is a "darker" game so I wouldn't say the places would be graphically better....(like we saw in FFXIII darker places were not as good as brighter places)....But I'm sure it will be beautiful........hopefully they have a few bright places as well........

oh ma bad.......

that behomoth monster they released last month does look pretty good.............I don't see nothing wrong that........or the ones in FFXIII.

Man, I finished watching the scene after kicking Barthandelus' ass last night. That was too good to be true. I actually saved it onto an extra file so I can look at it whenever the hell I want. It literally gave me goosebumps.

I would have to agree with the creator of this topic the scenarios and design of this game are really well done, i did find myself running around Grand Pulse for no special reason other then to enjoy the great scenario.

They did pay a lot of attention to detail, i guess the design of this game would be it's high point for me.

I will agree that the intricacy involved in the graphics of the characters and the worlds were one of the few redeeming qualities of this game. I'm not even going to elaborate on which one I thought was the best or most beautiful because I think they were all lovely in their own ways. The only thing that irritated me about some of the places you visited was the music they put with them... i.e. the crazy jazz music that played during one of the places you visit drove me up the wall...I'm not a jazz person AT ALL and they end up making you play a world with it playing the entire time, albeit a short time. I thought it would've been more appropriate to have the sounds of the world like crickets or something during the "jazz" world (I can't remember the name)since it was dark when you played through it, or wild birds during the Sunleth Waterscape world. Enjoy the rest of the game!

also may I make a suggestion.........raise the couler of your TV!

I did this a few days ago and was amazed my how much the game looked even better...........there is so much more couler to come out of the game once you raise it..........the grass lookes greener, the sky looks bluer and everything looks so much better............

trust me on this once you raise the couler there is even more detail and such revealed!!

(not the brightness/contrast or anything just the couler if you can't do it on your TV.......bad luck :( )

The problem with this game is that the game is too graphically "beautiful", no one can argue that running on 1080p (sorry Xbawx owners) the game is one of the most impressive visually. Square-Enix neglected other key aspects of the game such as the story as a sacrifice to make the game look good, the company has forgot its roots in order to cater for graphics whores.

As you can see from the attachment the two pictures have differences............I know the quality of the picture is bad but I took it with a phone camera.............

The one on the right is FFXIII with the color and sharpness of your TV raised.............

The one on the right is the normal FFXIII which is probably what most of you lot are playing with.........

I prefer the one on the right...........and if you do as well just raise the couler and sharpness of your TV to maximum, well thats what I did...........However feel free to raise it however much you want.

Im just saying as you can see from the two pics above there is clearly a difference...........the grass looks greener.........sky looks bluer etc.

Even if I've played Final Fantasy XIII ever since it was released in December, I continue to stop and stare at my television screen for minutes in awe every time I play the game. The amount of detail that is in Final Fantasy XIII is incredible and without a doubt, this is the best looking game I ever laid eyes on not to mention that it's my favorite game as well.
