The 4th Top-Selling Franchise

If Final Fantasy had been around as long as Mario then I imagine it would have been first or second on the list. I can't believe Pokemon made it as number two. The only people I know of that play Pokemon are my fellow forumers. But almost everyone I know of online and offline own at least one Final Fantasy game.
 
I'm actually surprised that Final Fantasy is even on the list. I thought Zelda sold more but I guess I thought wrong....

What do you lot think of this? I never realised that Mario was so popular :\

Mario is a pop culture icon. Mario is just as recongized as Micky Mouse.

No, I'm not surprised Pokemon is on that list either.
 
I'm fairly happy with the list ^^ Sure I'm not exactly pleased pokemon is number 2 since I've never liked pokemon, but it certainly isn't surprising.

Always remember that anything having to do with these words; 'interaction, cartoon/anime, card game tie-in' will most of the time mean instant gold. Mario's cool. I have no problem with him :P

FFVII is my favorite game and FF is my fave franchise so I'm pleased it made it as high as it is ^^
 
I'm surprised Zelda is as low down as it is, i expected it to be in the top 5 at least....

Final Fantasy being the 4th most sold franchise of all time really is amazing, and shows just how popular the game is ^_^

and im not surprised Pokemon is on the list, i remember the Pokemania that swept the world in 1996-8..it was EVERYWHERE.
 
I am surprised Zelda isn't rubbing shoulders with final fantasy on that list, oh well, mario being at the top is no surprise to me either but pokemon being there, I don't know how that worked out.

Kinda funny though, pokemon had an episode that made 600 japanese kids have a seizure!

I can't stand the Sims. It gets infuriatingly boring after a few weeks of playing the game, and the reason they sell so many games is because they require you to buy an expansion every time you want new content.

But Pokemon I'm cool with. That pretty much is the king of RPG games, after all.
 
I have to agree with most on Zelda, I’m absolutely shocked that it’s not higher on the list. However, Mario doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s had an almost five year head start on the rest of the competition and there’s a hell of a lot more Mario titles out there then the rest, so it’s no surprise that it’s overall sales are 2 - 3 times higher. :monster:

Overall, I’m happy to see that Final Fantasy made it somewhere on the list...
 
That's a pretty neat list, I think I would have to agree with most of it. Except Final Fantasy should be number 2! I agree with Mario, The Sims and GTA though. I love all of those games and they definitely deserve to be in the top five. It's great to see that FF made the top five list, woohoo! :D I do think it should have beat Pokemon though considering that FF has been around longer.
 
i liked Mario before but now (thinks it sucks)
Sims is great too...especially Final Fantasy
although i never played some of the games in the top list
 
I am not surprised to see Pokemon and Mario in the top two. Mhm...They are BIG kid pleasures and even teenagers get the urge to play some pokemon.

As for FF. I am very happy to see them at over 75 million and at #4. It's quite awesome. ^_^;;

Ha! XD You kidding me, grown men play Mario because they grew up with NSE and SNES. Mario will always be number 1. Mario Party, Super Mario, Mario 64, Mario cart, Paper Mario....the list goes on. >_< Same with Pokemon, I'm still shocked on how Pokemon still grows strong.

Now that I think about it, thing is with Zelda they released many games but some were major hits. (Legend of Zelda, Link to the past, Ocarina of time, etc.) As for Final Fantasy, almost all main titles has always became a major hit. Final Fantasy VII sold almost 10 million copies and Ocarina of time sold about 7.6 million copies. (They came out a year apart.)

Well... no offense, but keep in mind that it's referring to the "top selling franchise in number of units sold" and not the type of public playing them. Put simply, there are dozens... a hell of a lot more Mario titles available to purchase then the rest of the competition in that list. So, it's no surprise that the Mario franchise has several million more units sold than any other franchise.
 
who never realizes pokemon was that big it was HUGE rember red and blue version... ive never seen videogames so popular. but according to gameinformer final fantasy was the 3rd highest selling serie of all time below mario and pokemon
 
yea mario is really popular with like all the different types of games it has, like the karting, and the normal mario and all that and im actually surprised that Final Fantasy didn't do better
