What did you think about that?

I thought that it was natural, as they weren't main characters to begin with, but then AC makes it seem as though they were. I mean DoC did "explain" it with an explaination that they were in Shin-ra at the time, but that would make it seem as though the creators were confused as how to include Vincent and Yuffie in the compilation.

Any thoughts?

I had no problem with it since you could finish the game without them. I'm not sure how much space 3 more FMVs would have taken up (1 for both, and 1 for each of them if you only got 1), and I'm not sure how much space they had left before they would have had to move to an extra disk, lol.

As far as Advent Children, that would have just been very awkward to NOT include them. Vincent seems to be one of the most popular characters from VII, and I'm not sure about Yuffie's popularity, but you can't just add one without the other.

They where optional charecters so I dont see a reason as to why they would be in the ending sequence. It would be stupid to show them if one never got them.
In DoC I think they just made that since Vincent and Yuffie became popular and much like FFVII they wanted to milk it for all it was worth

They were not so important at that time, so I don´t care very much, as the final FMV is more an Aerith thing than anything else.

Anyway, it was nice of Square to think in not "spoiling" things for players who didn´t get one of the characters or both. .

I thought they were left out of the final FMV because there wasn't enough space to make three/four different ending FMVS.

-One if both Vincent and Yuffie were in the party.
-One if Vincent was in the party and Yuffie wasn't.
-One if Yuffie was in the party, and Vincent wasn't.
-One if neither of them were in the party.

DoC explains why neither of them were in the final FMV, I think, so that's something, at least. At the time, I wasn't too bothered about it. They didn't add majorly to the story, anyway.

I was pissed, these two are the characters that made me play the game, and honestly besides Aerith, Cloud and Sephiroth were my only fav's, I accept that it would be odd though, for them to be there had the player not gotten them...

FFVII was filled with so many annoying options :gasp:

I don't mind it anymore. I use to, but not anymore.

I, back in the day, always did a fandom thought and hoped they had run off to get married and that explained the lack of their appearance, even if I knew that was incredibly unlikely and absurd.

But now I just look at it like "They were off doin' some awesome missions without the rest of their friends there to hold back their awesomeness".

(The direction they could have taken when the player has them was simple and was capable to do with the Playstation, Snes and even the Nintendo 64. If the player had Yuffie or Vincent, have it activate a switch which would then tell the disc to play that certain movie with them in it. And if the player didn't have them, create a switch which would read whether or not they were in the party or found and if it read they weren't, play the movie without them.)

Well, that is obvious, a few of us have already mentioned them needing 3 more FMVs, and I'm sure they would have done that. However, I'm guessing there was something else that played into it, like how much space they had left. They may not have had enough space to fit 3 more FMVs on without needing an extra disc.

This. Or maybe they even lacked the time as well to create two more FMVs for the ending.

Either way, this never really bothered me. I thought it was natural that they weren't there since they were both optional characters who weren't necessary to complete the game.

I wasn't really bothered by it, although Vincent is one of my favorite characters. I'm just glad that with DoC, they both got a much bigger role.

Too much work and too much space needed for another FMV, imagine 3 more.
Though they could have made a substandard FMV scene for each one of them alone, to be attached to the final FMV contemplating each case. Though the results would probably be so bland that they didn't bother.

It never really bothered me, considering that it would just be stupid and confusing for them to show up in the end if you never got them. FFVII was pretty much packed with material, so I'm betting either they didn't have enough space, or they just didn't want to go through the work. I didn't even notice it until now. XD

That's odd. I actually never really noticed that until you mentioned it. It's confusing how Square Enix makes their products because they're not included in the game ending, yet they're in Advent Children and DoC. I guess it didn't really faze me because they were optional characters.

I'm sure they had no idea that they were going to make Advent Children or Dirge of Cerberus.

Like most of everyone, I didn't mind because at the time I had the same thought: optional characters. Didn't really seem a point to having them in the final cinema. It was nice that Advent Children did include them though. No wasted memories. Wouldn't it have been weird to watch that movie and to never had gotten Yuffie or Vincent in the game? That would suck.

I never really noticed it either, and thinking back it may have been very difficult to have rendered Vincent's big red cloak/coat thing!

I like both of their characters, but not enough to be bothered that they weren't in the ending FMV. You could go through the whole game and not pick either of them up and it doesn't have that much of an effect on the story. In fact, on my first play through I didn't get Vincent until the end of disc 2!

It seems pretty logical to me. Neither character is in a place that you'd easily find unless you did side-quests/explored, especially in Yuffie's case. Why pay SE's AMV team extra to create two additional endings that may not even happen if you can just use one generic one? Adding two characters to an ending would change the ending dialogue as well.

Obviously, including four different FMV endings would have been impractical, so their absence never offended me, but them not being there is sort of jarring. Even though they're optional characters and neither of them is THAT important to the plot, I can't imagine going through the game without them or imagine them opting out of the final battle for some reason.

personally, I didn't even know Vincent existed for years. Yuffie just kept robbing me, so I was like fuck this shit. I remember one time I thought my game locked up, but it was that the script had forced it to where I could only use my menu button (and when you pull up the menu and exit out guess whos not there anymore!).

I was so pissed because I quit the game once before since I thought the game froze.

seriously

fuck that bitch :monster:

That aside, they were optional characters... So it's not hard to see why they weren't in it.

While I kind of learned from the first time of playing that Vincent is in the basement, all the times after getting him once usually end up with me leaving that dude in the basement. I think it's funny he got a spinoff from the game. I thought he was not only pretty terrible for playing the game, but a boring and uninteresting character. That's why he gets to stay in the basement while I save the world ;)

They aren't main characters, but hidden ones.

No game usually features hidden characters in endings etc, because of the questions it would raise for the people who hadn't got them.
