Sorry if there is already a thread.

I checked all 18 pages and couldn't see it and word searched it. >.<

Anyway, I've been wanting to see this movie for a while now, but haven't been out to the video store lately.

From what I've seen in the trailer it looks like something I'd want to watch.

It seems like a rather strange movie, but that's what intrigues me.

Has anyone else seen this and if so what are your thoughts on it?

And if you've not seen do you want to, based on what you've seen in the trailer?

Please use spoiler tags if you are going to tell certain parts of the movie that could potentially ruin it for those of us who haven't seen it. =)

Thanks!

Ive seen it. Its from the guy that directed lord of the rings series.
This movie is drama obviously , its not really my cup of tea, but its a good movie.
I dont want to put spoilers here, but just see the movie. cuz the world where she is in is amazingly created.. the grass and its liquified as well, really artistic graphically.
Story-wise its basically standard and typical situation.

Also there is a room created underground...that was damn clever.

I went to see this movie with a friend, I liked it but she did not. It kind of reminds me of what dreams may come. The entire concept was enjoyable however, certain scenes that were meant to be dramatic came out corny to me.

The main character is pretty. That's all I have to say about it. :mokken:

j/k

I read the book, and the book is definitely more serious and, to some extent, better. But the movie was beautiful in itself. The graphics are well done, and the acting was pretty average (the actor playing Mr. Harvey was pretty good though). Overall a good movie.

It was a decent movie but not my favorite.

Some of the acting was good and some of it wasn't. I thought that the special effects were a little overdone especially for a film that should be considered a drama. But maybe that's just me.

Just saw this a couple of nights ago.

It was okay but a bit depressing.

I believe in the book Suzie was raped and murdered, but in the movie they only suggest that she was murdered.
The scene that was the most disturbing was when Suzie ends up in Mr Harvey's bathroom with him soaking in the bath tub, with blood everywhere and then she clicks all of a sudden that she was murdered.

A bit disturbing but still a good movie.

So sad how she never even got to go on a date with her crush. :sad3:

This movie was hella creepy.. but I still watch it on TV if it comes on. I was surprisingly disappointed at the end when they didn't really solve anything..
they all just sort of.. accepted it and moved on. I wanted them to catch the guy, they were so close, and then they all just dropped it. I don't know if irl you would just.. drop the murder of your daughter, y'know?

Yeah, I agree.

The ghost girl goes through the trouble of possessing that one girl just so she can kiss that guy one last time rather than getting revenge on the guy who murdered her. I mean, he was only a few feet away!

It would probably be interesting to read the book.

I never did read the book...but I did go and see the movie when it came out in theatres.

I liked it and I thought it was very very good. The visuals in this movie were something else because there were some scenes that made me say oh my gosh in my head...because they were so beautiful.

However, the majority of the movie irritated me as the perpetrator kept getting away with sleezy things. No one ever suspected him...and this man was totally sick and into doing what he did.
That point where the cops were inspecting his house for the evidence drove me nuts...I wanted them to find it so bad...and when he started focusing on her sister I started getting really upset
:rage:

Towards the end of the movie you realize
she's come to term that she's really dead and she isn't going to be coming back. Although the part where she kissed the guy that she liked through the other girl made me sad. She never got to enjoy growing up and going out with someone she likes or to be able to be with him and kiss him.

The end was the least irritating point of the movie because
justice was finally served, although I would have preferred it if the guy had at least suffered a bit...he got off so easy.

I love how you followed up on your own thread so many months after making it.

This book was passed around by all the women in my family (sorry if that sounds sexist, didn't mean it that way) for a few years, I was familiar with it because my sister had to do a big project for English class and it revolved around this book, and I had to help her with it. It seemed like a pretty good book to me, though I never actually read it.

I was initially enamored by the trailer and how beautiful it all was, while the actual movie did turn out to be a bit frustrating. Like others said, with the bad guy getting off so easily and hardly a sense of closure anywhere.
I remember chewing my nails off when that chest was rolling down into that big ditch they were about to fill in, and my disappointment when it didn't burst open.

I did really enjoy the sequence where Susan Sarandon came in with her "buck up and move on" attitude and started that humourous montage, it was much needed.

I don't think I'll ever see the movie again though..

I really didn't like this movie... I didn't like the child actor and the effects looked like something out of a car ad.
There were some bits that kept me on my toes but for me a lot of it was just boring, slightly pointless and cheesy. It also lasted a bit too long.

The acting is amazing in the movie, absolutely amazing. Saoirse Ronan and Stanley Tucci were incredible - best roles of their careers.

Unfortunately, the movie itself is just...painful. Nothing that you want to happen in the movie, actually happens. The ending just makes you feel frustrated and depressed, and doesn't give you any satisfaction.

But, for nothing else, the performances of those two actors are really worth seeing. Just be sure to follow it up with something happy / satisfying.

I kind of liked the movie. Sure the effects were nice but I liked that a sort of realism is kept within the story. The good guys dont always catch the bad guy in real life and its good that there's a touching movie out there that shows that not everything you want to happen happens.

Watching it I was expecting so many cliches to pop out but not many were present, leaving me pleasantly surprised. The ending was kinda funny almost like Karma and I was still satisfied. I loved the movie and it's actors. It wasn't the best movie out there but it had some pretty intense moments :P

Watched it a couple of times. It was good, but not in the sense of feeling good. It was depressing and incredibly sad.

In the book, she was raped and murdered, but I suppose they felt that was a bit much for the movie and didn't include nor did they say the murderer didn't do these things. I think I like it better not knowing as knowing what I know from the book, its even more depressing that way and leaves an even worse feeling in my gut.

The movie made me cry, especially when she escaped -- or she thought she did -- from the underground house and was running home. It gave false hope and safety and then it tore it away when no one could see her.

I like how it gives a bit of the real life but that also irks me at the same time. The bad guy doesn't always get caught or given justice, but the ending and the man's end, was fitting. I think.

I agree with HeartSmash, the ending was kinda like Karma. He got what was coming to him and even died falling down a cliff, something mcuh like what he did to Suzie's body.

I liked this movie. Like the others are saying- it's not the best out there, but it's still pretty good. It was a kind of terrifying movie, in a real way. I too wanted justice to come to the rapist. I wanted him to be locked behind bars forever. But like in real life, it doesn't always happen.

But perhaps this movie is saying that in the end- Justice does prevail.
