People have many different theories on the meaning of life. Some say that we can search as much as we want but we'll never find the answer. Others choose to believe that the meaning of life is what we believe.
So what do you think the meaning of life is? Do you have any experiences to back up your belief. Express your opinion here and respect other members views. :)

How about you express yours as well?

From all kinds of literature that you read, including religion, it seems that none of us have really come to an actual resolution as to what THE meaning of life (as opposed to A meaning of life) is. Thus it can be said that there isn't an absolute meaning of life. The meaning of life, or rather, the purpose of your own existence is something you choose for yourself. No one can convince you otherwise. For some people, they discover who and what they are, and find purpose in life, and make one for themselves. Some people don't, and are left clueless as to why they're still living. It's not entirely a bad thing to have no purpose or meaning in life; perhaps you exist now to find that purpose or meaning, and build the rest of your life around it, once you have found it. Of course, events in life can always change the original purpose you had in mind. And for some people, it won't.

I do not belive there is a reason to life. We were not created by any entity either a god or otherwise.
We exist merly out of chance and the only purpose in our lives is to die.

We live only to die, that is our only purpose our only destiny.

What ever you do over the course of your life means nothing as the end result is the same, you will die and there is nothing that will change that.
There is nothing after lfe as religions would have you belive. You will not find an afterlife, you will not be reincarnated you will simply cease to exist.

I have many views as to what the meaning of life is. Like others, I choose to believe that the meaning of life is to die, much like the post above. One can not live for eternity and no matter what happens, whether it's now or later, we all die. The human race will not live forever, thus it was created to end.
I also believe that the meaning of life is what you make it. You choose what you beklieve in. One is their own person. They choose the reason as to why they live.
For instance, I choose to live and not to kill myself because I want to embrace life and all that it has to offer. I want to experience things and learn as much about life as possible, what it means to live. That is what I've chosen. That's my meaning of life.

it's here for us to have a ball. don't have any regrets and do whatever the fuck you wannnt.

I quite agree with this view, but then, I still enjoy life, and am currently doing my best to succeed in life :)

Reading the posts before me made me agree that one's meaning of life depends on what one believes in. We have different views, so we have different beliefs. One's purpose of living is up to the person.

I think the meaning of my life is to be happy and make someone happy. I may not please everyone, but atleast I can make some happy. If I make dying the meaning of my life..or my purpose of living. That won't make any sense to me. Why live if at the end we die? I think there is more sensible purpose of living than just dying.

IS there really a meaning of life or is it just another of mans curiosity. If i would to say what i think the meaning of life is. I'd say this:

The meaning of life is what ever you want it to mean or be. I think that there is no divine purpose for people which some people believe or that we are part of gods master plan. we are just here from millions of years of evolution, Bacteria that fell from space and evolved into what we are today.

The meaning of life can have different views as other posts have mentioned. My view of life is we were born upon the Lord's green Earth to have a purpose. Some people find their purpose, some don't. But I do believe everyone does have some kind of purpose. Even if you die and still never found your purpose, I'm sure you had a purpose that only the Lord knew and you fulfilled it somehow. I have yet to find my purpose though.

Life has meaning, yet it is ungraspable to humans, thus making them strive towards living on. Imagine if humans knew that meaning. What do we intend to do with that knowledge?

Maybe we were never meant to realize this meaning...

I have to say that personally that is the best meaning I have ever heard, because what else is there that will never change... The taste of a twix bar, I don't think so that will definitely change. The only thing that cannot, will not, and shall not be changed is death... If you believe that there is life after death, that is your oppinion, but personally I say that after death you remain dead!

Ugh, well since I wanted a serious debate forming different sides instead of a relaxing chat, my thread got shut down. Anyways, here's my stand point:

Life is and always will be to survive, reproduce, repeat steps 1 and 2. Some say it is to believe what you want, but really that is saying the meaning of life is just an idea. Nothing more. Sure, there has to be some type of meaning to asking yourself these questions and thus that is Survive and Reproduce. The really is no meaning, but to live. Sure, you can kill yourself and be out of the gene pool, but that doesn't help in any way, does it? If we live, we can benefit others or make things worse. The Chaotic Theory.

Sure, some believe there is a higher power that sets things straight for us, but what if it is just their to fill our egotistical fantasies that we want to believe; That we are better than everything else. In reality, we are all trying to co-inside and live together. So, might I ask of you, is it to not survive and further question to open new doors to walk through?

OMG I'm so confuzzled, I'm not posting on these really big theoretical threads anymore (just kidding) I have no proof ( nor does anyone else) that your theory nor anyone elses is wrong all I can say is that survival is not my main concern all I wanna do is help around with friends family and whatnot (screw the Chaos Theory)...

I think the meaning of life differs from person to person, because if every person is different from the next, how can their meaning be the same throughout all? I think it's up to each and every person to find their own meaning to life, their own goal to carry on towards. Weither it's to have fun and do what you want in this life, or work towards Heaven (Or Hell, if your strange).

I think the meaning of THIS life is to live well, and live happily. 'Cause if about 70 years is all we get, and it might just all END, we might just as well make it worthwhile. But if you think their is a next life or after-life, you might as well prepare yourself for that one in THIS life.

Personally, I'm working on living a good, Christian life, being nice to others, and all that good stuff, and getting my reward of eternal life in Heaven after I die in this life. I believe this life is just basically a 'trail of grace' to decide our final resting place, and depending on how our souls are weighed by God. If we're worthy of Heaven, that's where we'll go. If we fall below that goodness bar, it's off to pain and suffering we go for all eternity in Hell.

LOL, "'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.'"

When I read all these post, I'm reminded of Kuja and other Final Fantasy series.

I think that the meaning of life is to live. I don't think that we are just pieces of meat wandering about the world. I do believe in a Creator because of the revelations that I've personally received. There are just some things that cannot be expressed by words. Personally, death is the irregularity not life. Life and death has no part in each other. It's either life or death. Existence v non-Existence. Continuation v Dis-Continuation.

I also see it like this. Since we must breed to survive, we pass on our seeds. Not just men but woman also. Not just physically through our sexual organs but also through many ways. It's kinda like our very own imprint that we leave upon this world.

One imprint is our children. They are us and we are them. Just as we were from our parents, our children are from us. A part of us has gone out of us and became whole. Kinda like two becoming one. Our children are the one from the two. You follow? Two parents to make one children. Or in this case, a man and a woman to make one children, male or female.

One day we will die but our children, hopefully, will live on. As they live on, we also live on because we are in them just as they were in us. They will pass our seeds.

The other imprint by passing down the experience (knowledge, wisdom, understanding) we have collected. A mental imprint if you will. This, we may pass onto other children that are not our own. Kinda like teacher to student.

I won't believe that we are just pieces of meat. Yes we live a vain life and all things come to naught but I won't dare to believe we were created by "chance" or accident.

All I know is that I have to live on. To live on for what? I dunno but I have an extremely good feeling about it. Call it hope.

The meaning of life cannot be to die because if that were so, why do we live at all?

Some people look at the meaning of life differently. Some people may think that that fish (in general) are pets. Some think that they are food. While others may think that they are here just for our amusment. It's the same thing as humans. We all see our take on life differently and that is really what makes us different from one another.

It doesn't matter what the end result is. What matters is the 'jouney' from the start to finish, AKA from the life till death. The end result of a twix is that it is going to be eaten, but the purpose of the twix is fill your hunger.
