I gave ashe the first limit break but when i used it i got completly lost with it and messed it up totally . How do you fully work this new limit break?
If you are talking about the Mist abilities rather than espers they don't really come into any use until more than one has them. Chains are pretty short and pointless with one. Wait until at least 3 have at least one and you're away.
I don't know...
The Quickenings do work better with more than one character, but if you're lucky, you can do a combo with just one.
Anyway, the way you do it is so:
(let's say that Ashe, Vaan, and Basch all have Quickenings)
--each character that has the ability to do a Quickening is assigned a button (triange for Vaan, circle for Basch, X for Ashe)
--there is a message beside each of the characters which tells them what Quickening they can perform, and if it is available
>White: the choice is available and you can use it
>Gray: the choice is not available, due to insufficient Mist Charges
It also tells you how many Charges are going to be used by showing upwards to three orange ovals representing Mist Charges
--You're given 4 seconds total to activate another attack after the initial Quickening has been cast. This is an overall time, though--you can't waste it trying to decide whether you want to use a 1 or a 2-Charge attack (usually, you just have to react to seeing a White command).
Every time the counter starts up again, there is less time to make a command
Time Left = 4 seconds - time(s) you took to input command(s)
(knowing this doesn't help that much, since you can't really calculate the time left, but it just reinforces the sense of urgency you should feel about inputting commands (the more the better, actually)
--every once in a while, you'll come on to a command called Mist Charge:
This command completely replenishes one of your Mist Charges (same name, go figure!)
It's best to choose this command before any others.
It also shuffles the commands, given the character who charged up a choice of Quickening to use.
Essentially, when you see Mist Charge, just start button-mashing that character's button.
--if there is no White command to be seen (they're all gray), you can shuffle the command menu by pressing the R2-button. It takes a little time, but if you have deft fingers, the time difference is small and well worth it if you find the Quickening you've been looking for.
If you have any other questions, just post.
My tactic with FFXII's new limit break system is just to make quick decisions and, if you don't see the attack you want, just choose another and hope you either get it next time or you find a Mist Charge command to restore your...um...Mist Charges.
agreed. it powered up pretty fast too compared to FFVIII's limit breaks where you had to be practically dead to get it. I do like the quickenings in FFXII though, fun to use and if you get a good chain boss's are a complete doddle.
Trance was okay but sometimes the bar didn't go up fast enough and you couldn't wait to use it at a perfect time aswell as quite a few characters have basically nothing. Zidane's Grand Lethal is great, especially when you get to use it like 5 times before the Trance meter goes down.
I don't really like Quickenings. Mainly because I prefer to use my MP for more useful magicks rather than risking my MP to do a chain.
