Ties of Blood

Chapter 1

"Um...Dad, there's someone here to see you", she said, feeling sorry to have intruded while he was working. Molly's Dad looked up at her with a reassuring smile."Hey, don't worry Mol, it's not your fault and besides, I could get this work done another time", he said and turned to walk down the stairs to meet the guest. "By the way Molly, can you give this to the shop down the road?" He said and he gave Molly a parcel. "Okay Dad, I'll go right away", Molly said and leaves the house. Molly's father went down the stairs and into the guest room where the man is waiting.

"Ah, Mr. MacKenzie, what a nice house you have", the man said and held out his hand formally in greeting. "Oh please, call me Adam." Molly's dad said, and he shakes the man's hand in return and takes a seat in a cosy armchair beside him. "You can call me Damian. I have this message to you. Hopefully, it won't disrupt part of the great business that you are running", Damian said and gave Molly's father a sealed envelope.

"I highly regard you to open it when you're free and no-one's around. Well, I'm afraid duty calls, Adam. Till we meet again", he said and gave him a satisfying smile and then opens the door and leaves.

Molly's dad stares at the letter in his hand and turns to go upstairs. He then goes up the stairs to his room to unveil what the message is. He carefully opened the envelope and slid out the letter of the envelope while muttering 'Please be a promotion'. He then unfolded the letter and as his eyes followed the words on the letter, his face wore a more shocked expression by the second. Without having any second thoughts, he shouted out to Molly's mum. "Tracy, run!" and she ran out to him.

"Adam, what's the matter?" she said, a worried expression on her face. "Tracy, we have to get out of here. It's not safe here", he said and turned to look into her eyes. "Look after Molly and make sure that she doesn't come to any harm", and he turned back and walked to his room. "Adam..." she said, tears filling in her blue eyes. When he didn't answer, she runs out the door and looks back at her house.

BOOM! Molly's house exploded and burst into flames right before Tracy's eyes. Tracy's face wears a shocked expression and because she can't bear to stay there, she decides to run away. She runs away from her hometown...runs away from her family...runs away from her life...

Molly woke up hastily and thoughts began to run through her mind. 'Was that...a dream...? No, more like a...flashback.' As she began to think this, she heard another voice. "Hey Molly, you okay?" The voice was that of a woman by the name of Justine Striker.

Justine sheltered Molly in her home approximately 2 years ago and treated Molly like her younger sister. Justine had black hair neatly wrapped into a plait that reached her waist and she had dark brown eyes that showed care towards all who stared into them. She was wearing a black sleeveless tank top and blue casual jeans and had a worried expression on her face.

Molly noticed the expression on Justine's face and decided that she shouldn't worry Justine any longer. "No, Justine. I'm fine, really. After all, it was only a dream", she said and gave her foster sister a reassuring smile. Justine breathed a sigh of relief and smiled back at Molly. "Breakfast's ready, that is if you want to eat", Justine said and left Molly's room.

As soon as Justine left, the thoughts surrounding the flashback that Molly had earlier were transfixed on her mind. Well, maybe this dream that I keep having is trying to translate a sort of message to my mind. But, who cares. Her stomach rumbled and she felt that was the signal to go down and eat.

When she went downstairs, she saw Justine holding a letter. Molly, looking curious, asked "Is that a letter for me?" Justine answered her question with a curt nod. When she lay the letter down next to Molly, the brunette hastily unveiled the letter. When she read it, she felt excitement run through her veins.

This was the place that she had been searching for. A training academy specialising in combat and magic. A place that she could call her 'second home'. A place by the name of Balamb Garden.

Chapter 2 will be up and running soon.
