As I'm sure you all know, various parts of FFF are over-run with Tifa VS Aerith threads, but hardly any contain any substance. Other than the character clubs, which cannot argue in one thread alone, there is not a place to discuss MATURELY why Tifa is better than Aerith/Aerith is better than Tifa.

I'm going to be unofficially moderating this thread myself. With a moderators permission (Lady Aerith, for reference) it has been authorised that -ANY- senseless bashing of a character will result in a warning for trolling. I ask that everyone participating remains vigilant for anything ... silly, basically.

I'm going to be checking here often, so what I propose to do is keep a log in my first post of basically every argument, until we start to repeat ourselves. In other words, there will be a pro's and con's list for both characters and I'll be editting my first post often, according the replies given.

=====

Aerith

+ Stronger magic.
+ Great Personality.
+ First person Cloud opened up to.
+ Saves the world.
+ Fantastic Limit Break [temporary invincibility].
+ Unselfish.
+ Last survivor of the Cetra.

- Typical FF female character - mage.
- Deceased.
- Over-rated?
- Inconsiderate towards Tifa during the fortune-telling.

=====

Tifa

+ Stronger attacks.
+ Unique character, who does not fall into the typical FF female cliche'.
+ Atypical character – non-spellcaster. + Childhood bond with Cloud.
+ Helped Cloud with his memories.
+ Cares for Cloud on a deeper level – refers back to the childhood bond.
+ Limit Breaks incur multiple hits.
+ Alive.

- Difficult to perform Limit Breaks.
- Overly-exaggerated breasts.

i say tifa because she has more hp and more attack damage in the game itself but aeris can heal herself better than tifa

This thread is perfectly fine and I don't mind mature and intelligent debates on who is better than who, BUT if I say ANY and I mean ANY flaming towards EITHER character, flaming characters fans or flaming of each other, I will not hesitate to hand out warnings and infractions. Please follow the rules of this thread. Thank you

I see, Supernova, so we've started with physical attributes. So Tifa is stronger, physically, but Aerith is stronger, magically. At least we have a start =] And a balanced one, at that!

Oh my....this will not end well.

I see Tifa as better, because she does kick ass, but how many other FF characters who are female kick ass well? Rikku sucks, Rinoa Sucks, Quistis was good but apart from that. She was a really good character who didn't fall under the generic cliche RPG rule of most Female characters being Black/White mages.

Well this should be interesting.........

Aeris

Pros

Shes Kind, Sweet and Innocent
Aeris was the first person Cloud started being warm to
She saves the World - Twice XD
Cait Sith fortells that Aeris and Cloud are a perfect match.
Aeris and Cloud have a great level of understanding for each other
Aeris saw cloud for who he was in the lifestream and loves Cloud for Cloud
Aeris is the only person - apart from Nanaki who joined AVALANCHE for non-selfish reasons
She is the greatest spellcaster
Her limit-breaks are the most powerfully defensive limit breaks in any FF EVER

Cons

Shes Dead
The thing she does in the temple of the ancients is Bitchy if you have Tifa on your team
Shes only alive on the first disk
Shes not as good a physical attacker as the rest of the party
You dont really get to make the best of her Limit breaks
Some people keep insisting shes put with Zack

Tifa

Pros

Shes one of the only Female FF characters - Her Yuffie Beatrix Freya and Rikku - who aren't built to be spellcasters
Shes known Cloud since Childhood
Shes kind and caring
Shes good with Children
Her limit breaks are pretty awesome
Tifa was the one who helped Cloud with his memories
Tifa stayed and helped Cloud when he was hospitilized in Mideel
She always thinks of Cloud
Shes still alive

Cons

Shes annoyingly Clingly in Disk 2
Shes often made out to look and act like a slut in fandom
Shes portrayed as being slightly stalker-ish in KH2
Tifa lied to him about his past
It seems as if Tifas role in the game is to "think about cloud"
Tifa is too shy to tell cloud her feelings

Thats my input - for now anyway - on the Whole Aeris VS Tifa thing - ive made sure that ive got the same number of pros and cons for both of the girls. and yes some may seem a little harsher but Tifa fans see the harsher parts of Aeris and Aeris fans see the harsher side of tifa

*shrugs* meh if you dont like my opinion tell me over PM instead of making a public scene here.

EDIT - So i say that Aeris is better than Tifa as she doesn't annoy me as much as Tifa did, and i focus on mage characters more than monks, plus Aeris' limits saved my ass a few times ^_^ Tifas always seemed to land on Miss for me.......

Edit Edit - Rydia i totally forgot about FFIX - Sorry Freya and beatrix :( - i was thinking of including Faris but in that game theres the job system so she doesnt really count....and ive always though of celes as a magic person :S

Yuffie got left out again. :( Jk! JK!

If I had to choose between the two girls, I'd have to choose Aeris. I never really liked Tifa's character. I felt that she was well, kind of boring compared to all the other characters. And she was a little too clingy for my taste on disk two.
In her defense, it was cool to have a female fist fighter. I just wish they gave her a more athletic build.

I've always prefered magic users anyway, but then again everyone in FFVII could do magic. Maybe she just wasn't in the game long enough to annoy me like Tifa did. I liked how Aeris did save the world at the end and her personality just flys better with me.

For the record Yuffie could pwn them both.

EDIT: Aeris, you forgot Freya, Beatrix, Faris, and to some extent bc everyone in VI could use magic, Celes.

If it's going to be this serious of a discussion... can someone just sticky the thing and move it out of the regular "General Discussion" if it's going to be some sort of "special" "highly moderated" thing. Besides, if you sticky it... then no one has a good reason for ever making one of these again and I don't have to see it and go "Gawd, not again!"

Aerith is a ***** can suck on my ****.

That was really unnecessary. Didn't you read the rules? Maturity is a must. -.-

Anyway, back on topic...

I like Aerith due to the fact that she's very sweet, and I felt sorry that she died so early in the game. Hah, I actually named her after me the first time I played through, and I was really sad that she didn't even get to be part of the party for that long. From what I remember (I still have to play again soon), she was sweet and unselfish. I like that a lot about her. Sure, it's the typical FF female role, but that's what keeps me hooked to characters with those traits. Aeris was actually far from typical, IMO. She was a very unique character with a unique past.

I can't really say what I don't like about Aerith. I'm having a hard time thinking of one. I guess it's due to the fact that she was only in the game for such a short time that it was hard to find faults in her character. But well, I guess I'll just say that I didn't like that she died. Period. :)

Now Tifa. Well, I like her a lot as well, especially in FFAC because she really can fight really well, even though she lost in the end. Her characteristics are also alluring due to the fact that she was extremely shy about her feelings about Cloud. I actually found that amusing, and I can kinda relate to her in that way.

Hmm, what I didn't like about her though is her character design. I'm sure you know what I mean. (Thank goodness they fixed it a little in AC though) Also, I heard she was clingy in KH2? Hah, I bought that game a couple days ago and will probably arrive by mail tomorrow. So I'll see for myself. :)

So there. Aerith VS. Tifa. I actually find the love triangle amusing, lol. Both girls have feelings for Cloud, and I find that cute. But to say who's meant for who? I really don't bother with the outcome anymore. That's all I have to say. ^_^

All honesty? It would be a very close match, however if it was limit break
wise Tifa could win. Just to the sheer fact that she is able to keep dealing
damage after more damage and even more damage Until Aerith would be dead.

However, Aerith's one limit break for temporary invincibility would give her
a huge advantage. Plus her strong magic and curative abilities makes her
a tough opponent. It would really depend who would have the first limit break.

EDIT: I stickied this thread, however if Riku feels it shouldn't be stickied
I will unstick it and put it back the way it was for him.

Aeris is the American version. Aerith is the Japanese version. I'm not sure why people say the Japanese version so commonly... I think the name is confused more than any other in the series. Just like Lenna and Reina are the same in FFV... except no one gets confused over that.

Ok guys, stick to the topic please so I don't have to hand out warnings. Thank you
very much. ^_^ Your fair chance to listen and not be warned. Also quit it with the spamming.

But, back on topic. I also thought of something else, if Aerith had
re-raise/auto life. (Can't remember what its called) That would also
make the fight alot harder and longer. Too many elements about
the both of them to know who would win.

O.K. my 2 cents... Hmmm well I like Aerith better because she had a more mature roll while I felt Tifa was kinda too silly at times. Don't mean to bash just my pin-yon. As far as a fight I think it would be really close and hard to say with so many possibilitys but Tifa would win based solely on limit break timing.
I think ???

I'm going with Tifa based on the fact that she survived. Well, ok not really. After seeing her kick major but against Loz in Advent Children, she really made me look at her as more of a kick-ass fighter than I had previously though.

Since I knew Aeris' fate ahead of time, I had already made up in my mind not to use her much.
