Anyone know of her?

She's a great great singer/pianist/lyric writer. Artists that have been inspired by her are Jewel and Alanis Morissette.

She's been around for 20+ years i believe. But ever since my younger sis showed me her I just found myself so in love with her music.
It seems like no one knows of her on the net or in real life... but she's a platinum selling artist so i'm confused how no one can know her. :wacky:

Anyone else know/like her?

Surprisingly, not too many people know about her.
My aunt reeeeeaaaaally liked her, and showed me one of her songs. I immediately fell in love with her voice. I'm not a huge fan, but I really do like her a lot, and I find it a shame that so many people haven't heard of her. Much better than lots of the crap now days :mokken: Well I won't go into a rant on modern music...

Yes, one more fan for her. :jess:

My sis showed me her music after seeing Tool linked to her. Ever since then I've loved her. Her lyrics are so pretty and so meaningful.

I can literally listen to her music on repeat. She just never gets old. :gonk:

I quite like Tori Amos.
She's got a nice voice and she's one of the few bands/people that I listen to that use a piano, there's plenty who use keyboards.
And she's one of the few musicians who could be called brave, her song 'Me and a Gun' was about how she was raped. I have a lot of respect for someone who can recover from that and continue to make perfrom.

That's one of the reasons why I like her music so much, too. She is brave for talking about it. And like you said, she's got a really really nice voice. It's unique and she has this very different kind of vocal style but still has a very feminine feel to it. Her piano playing is really talented too, one of my favorite pianist/singers. :ryan:

The very first song of hers that really got my attention was Caught a Lite Sneeze. It's a very inspiring song in a way. :lew:

Sis! :cali:

Don't even get me started on how much I love her, she's so deep and such a role model for me, I am so inspired and comforted at the same time to hear her music and lyrics, the song Girl and Winter are just amazing, Taxi Ride an unspeakably true message and speaks of one thing that I can't stand about some people.

But I admire her most of all for her courage; facing losing her child and coming out as good as one possibly can from such a thing, she truly is an amazing woman.

Professional Widow, Northern Lad, Mohammed my Friend, Baker Baker, Cloud on my Tongue, The Waitress...and oh my gosh Precious Things and her most successful and romantic (imo)Sorta Fairy Tale, so many! I can barely wait for her new album an absolute birthday must have for me, I can't wait to hear some of her new stuff!

And ugh! Cannot stand the slightest ideas of even thinking about possibly considering to say that her and Lady Gaga are even slightly alike; Tori's been at it for 30 years and has such grace and experience, Gaga has no hope of even coming close to a comparison. No offense, I like Gaga but no comp. :ahmed:

I love Tori Amos.

Well everything but NoH so far (I'm trying really hard, but every time I put it on, I have the strong urge to listen to Tori that's more....Tori :wacky:)

She has so many good songs. And she should be more well known. I find that most people have no clue who she is, which is sad and very Stevie (though Stevie is completely less known I'm sure, especially now).

But I love her is the major point.

Yeah, I really can't force my self to like the new album. Which is weird, cuz I usually like so many of her songs off of each album, but I can't really say I like any of the songs on the newest album. :hmmm:

I recently bought her first two albums - Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink, and really liked both. Can't believe it took me this long to listen to her stuff. Might pick up Boys for Pele and From the Choirgirl Hotel at some point, as I've heard those are both good too.

You should fight the power and get American Doll Posse.

It's so much better than some people make it out to be. I love the concept and the sound, even though it gets a bit pop/rocky at times. Of course, Tori even makes pop/rock better than anyone else. And it's never exactly that. Plus Isabel rocks my socks off. :wacky:

Choirgirl is really good and so is Boys. But it's Tori so you can't really go too far wrong. Unless you scare easily.
