I think it would be a lot of fun, and we only need a minimum of seven participants. That would make it a nice three rounds long. As there appears to be no active RP mods around, we can decide amongst ourselves who can judge. I don't mind taking part as both judge and participant, but I think it would be a good idea to have at least two judges, or more depending on how many people wish to take part. Well, the winner would be whoever kills/injured their opponent enough to render them incapable of fighting, but we'd need to make sure that there's no rule breaking such as god-modding or changing character's abilities or making them too overpowered, etc.

Is anyone else interested?

Once we've got at least seven people interested, we'll open up a sign-ups thread for people to post their bios that are to be approved by the judges/referees.

Not unless we can get a little incentive. It will take a bit of time and we'll have to go smaller...but it'll work out, I'm sure...

I would be all over this as well and would be more than happy to act as judge if need be. On the matter of creating characters that arent overpowered, you might have to resort to a standardized bio format that has a limit on abilities like Oli's Eureka Academy bio.

Maybe you guys should PM Jesse/Insanity Wolf about the judging bit since he was the RP Mod and is still tasked with handling this section. I'm not sure what kind of incentive Kevin is talking about but I'd be happy to throw in some gil or VBShop rewards if you guys can get this going.

I would be willing to judge also, as I also used to mod this section (mind you, I'm not still responsible for it, but I have some experience :wacky:).

I'm not sure about participating, but if you come up one short I will do it. I recommend that you stick to the standard format for this forum in regards to bio construction...but then again, this isn't my show to run. Just a thought. :monster:

Well, assuming everyone who posted here is interested in taking part, that gives us six already. I'm sure I can rope in a couple of older members for this. Dunno if anyone remembers Drachnon and Firefrenzy. I'm sure a good tournament would bring them back, even if it is just for the tournament. That way Ness can act as judge/referee and not take part in the actual battles if that's what he wants. I'll e-mail them. :monster:

If an actual RP mod can get in on this, that would also be fantastic.

As for the whole overpowered thing, that can be compensated for with certain environments for arenas. They obviously wouldn't be made to put one person at a disadvantage, but they will be designed to set things on an even ground. :) They wouldn't be your standard run-of-the-mill arenas, but more along the lines of maybe a forest during a blazing inferno for example, or a 50 square meter platform, where if you step off one edge, you re-appear on the opposite end. Things that can both be used to a player's advantage and disadvantage. They're just examples, but I'm sure we can all think of more ideas.

This sort of thing has worked in the past, so I see no reason it won't work here provided there's enough interest. Even if we only end up with a handful of us, we can always have two matches each for round one, and maybe have someone chosen at random to be 'seeded' for round two or something. It all depends on how many there are. :)

I was only posting about offering incentives because Kevin mentioned it. I know nothing about RP battles. :sad3:

Ah, that's unfortunate. :( Although, it's easy enough to get into. Why not read up on some previous RPB's and read some bios if you would like to take part? There's been some pretty interesting battle threads on this forum and many more in the archives if you want to take that time. But all it is is basically writing out your side of a battle, another person responding with their side to it, and so on.

I'm probably a bit rusty myself, since I haven't done anything like this in a few years. So I'm gonna set up a challenge should anyone wish to accept, for a warm up. :monster:

I could be game but i am pretty busy IRL... But i should be able to manage a post a day most days...

If someone with more time shows up i could easily move myself into a sort of "substitute" position in case someone drops out...
