...annoy me. I hate the % rate on them, I hate the one time only spawning ones even more. I've been fannying around in the Pharos for AGES trying to kill them gay deidar thingies (the dudes with the red flames) So I can open the paths to the treasure. I got there EVENTUALLY, then opened the chest without thinking. Boy was I maaaad. I meant to equip the diamond armlet or w'/e its called so I could get the Muramasa but I ENDED UP WITH A SHITTY MACE INSTEAD. Like FUCK am I resetting it to do it again. treasure chests in this game FAIL

I totally agree... I mean more often than not I end up with gil or fucking potions and THEYRE NO USE ANYMORE....

I never even think to use the Armlet tbh... I can't be fucked with the chests.... sometimes I get nice gil amounts... but the rest is fucking useless.

I'm with you on the chests fail rant Kelly dear <3

Yea it was a horrible feature of this game. There were a lot of things like that in a the game. I really wanted to fight a Red Chocobo and get a ribbon... but the chances of one showing up is 1 in 256. And the chance of it dropping a ribbon is 1 in 1,000 I think. It's retarded.

I hate them damn chests that turn into the spider things! -__-

Then the chests that have traps all around them. I've missed out on so much tresure because I've worn a Diamond Armlet thing while opening a chest were your not ment' to to wear Diamond Armlet's or you don't get the super epick treasure of win! The Diamond Armlet is MENT to give you a better chance to get a super epick treasure of win! But times it gives you super epick treasure of PHAIL!

how far really far

I hate the ones that have a %'age of showing up. you gotta go two or three screens away and come back. Like the Holy rod in the pharos. I went there... it wasn't there then I looked at how far I would have to go for a new spawn to come. Needless to say I just left and cried about it on the way out.

Ugh, I so totally agree. Even though I love this game a lot, this feature sucked. This is the first FF game where I used a guide before opening any chests.

I seriously hate this feature, I can't believe there are some people who attempt to get +1 Zodiac Spears through a chest who has 1/1000 chances of containing the Spear. Or other ridiculous % such as 5 or 10%, I quickly gave up having 100% for that reason and some rare drops; such as Danjuro.

Well if at least the Europeans and US people got the; FFXII International Zodiac Job System all of that would be 10x much easier, seeing Treasure chests spawn by walking off one area.

I hope they don't decide to add that feature on FFXIII or on any other for that matter.

Yeah the % based treasure chests were made of fail really. It was even more annoying when there was a certain % that a chest would show up and then a certain % that the chest would contain something good, which left you with a ridiculously small chance of getting the item you wanted.

Another thing that annoyed me was that you couldn't open certain chests if you wanted the Zodiac spear, as RPG players it is our instinct to open every chest in sight dammit! -__-

Yeah when I played XII i had no idea about that until towards the end. And so I missed the Zodiac Spear, and countless other items.

And I would always, ALWAYS forget to equip the diamond armlet. what's the point??? What's wrong with having a treasure chest guarded by a big beastie. You kill it, you get the treasure, risk-reward!

The stupid thing about the diamond armlet Ive noticed, is that you don't even always get the best item in the chest . I have to scrutinize the guide everytime theres chests in an area which annoys me and im thinking I so cba equipping and unequipping it every 2 minutes when chances are I won't get what I bloody well want anyway -_-

It's impossible to work out what you are gunna get without a guide because it's so annoyingly random. They make you rely on it to heavily which sucks. I don't think Ive EVER been this dependant on a walkthrough - AND THIS IS ONLY FOR TREASURE CHESTS

They fucked up on this I think. It's NOT an online game -__-

Imagine you don't have the guide!!! you have to then keep checking online guides and even then you're unsure. which is even more of a faff!

And i think that the diamond armlet should garuantee you get the best item, not just increase it to like 40% probability!

Sometimes though, the items without the diamond armlet equipped are better than WITH, like you could get a peice of armour without it, and with...you get a knot of rust or ....a knot of rust

It's FAR too random.

The game doesn't allow you to get the loot if you're using a walkthrough. It recognizes the cheating and locks down your system. :monster:

Seriously though, I remember trying for about 5 hours to get that one creature in the Pharros to drop the best armor of the game. His chance of showing up was rare and his drop rate was like 1 in 20. Even that pissed me off so bad I wanted to Ray Guy punt my PS2 across the fucking room.

A Knot of rust. lmao ^_^

I forgot about them. Why would you have a knot!!! It sound like something you could buy from a gift shop at an English Heritage site. it's not even as though you can even do much with them!

Well apparently, the moere knots of rust you use in battle, the stronger shemhazzi or whatever that esper is called attacks. Although I dont really USE Espers, so it's still a really annoying thing to find in a chest, over and over again >_>

-__-Oh I could not agree more. At first, I liked respawning chests, but then, when half the time it was a single potion, one or two gil, or a crappy weapon you started the game with, it was just irritating. Furthermore, the mimics, which have been mentioned before, drive me mad. I went deep into the Lhusus mind and started opening those multicoloured caskets, and I was bombarded and killed by an army of Pandora monsters. -__-

First time I've heard that, sounds pretty cool.

I know they effect the power of Dark Matter, the more knots of rust used = more power from dark matter.

Fucking mimics can sook me. I'm SICK of them. Thing is, every time I see a chest, I think, "that's gonna be a mimic" YET I STILL HAVE TO OPEN IT!

Also, I'm sick of getting those different lodes or whatever.... and fangs... i don't use battle items ever SO STOP GIVING ME THEM JEeeeeeeeeeesh

I hate the friggin random chests too, whoever thought of this lame idea needs to be shot.

If this is not bad enough, the drop and steal rate %'s are ridiculously friggin low too.

This couple along with the stupid random chests, makes item acquistion or better still unlocking all the ultimate weapons and armour a real pain in the butt imo.
