Using a PS1 Memory Card with a PS2

I just got a PS1 memory card so that I can save my PS1 games (FFVII, VIII, and IX), but for some reason my PS2 doesn't read the card >_< . I have the thin PS2 and the person who sold the card to me said that I had to get the card formatted on the original PS2. I'm not sure if that works or not.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice? I appreciate any help!
 
You know I've never heard anything good about those flat PS2s. o_O

mmkay, you don't know what you're talking about. PS1 memory cards work fine on a PS2. You just can't save PS2 games with a PS1 memory card. I know that PS1 memory cards work fine on PS2's, I play FFVIII on my PS2 everyday and it works fine. My advice: Just kinda pull it out a little bit, don't put it in all the way. If that doesn't work; cuss the guy who sold it to you.

Btw, I am Albel Nox. Just makin' it public. Also, I think you meant "Memory". Lolz.

My PS1 memory card works perfectly on my slim PS2 and I didnt have to format it or anything.
 
Ps1 memory cards do work on a regular PS2...but only when you're using it to play a PS1 game. o_O
 
I'll try what Abel Nox said. I hope that works. I think the brand of the card that I got was "Hip Gear" or something. It's really hard finding PS1 cards and all I want to do is play my FFVII and VIII!!!!!!!! Argh. Thanks for the help everyone though

what are you all talking about i tried the PS1 memery cards on PS2 and it didnt work
 
maybe its because the memory card is idont know............. WITH OUT A CHIP!! if u didnt get it from a gamestop or other gaming station youhave been scammed out of a memory card chip( my trade is computertech)
 
Ok, I had this problm with a PS1 mem card I had. for some reason, it would work on my ps1, but not my Ps2. I bought another one, and it worked fine. I think it's just a glitch that sony never worked out.
 
All my PS1 memory cards work fine, even the non sony ones... just cant save PS2 game info like someone said, though it saves PS1 info just fine...

Probably just got a jacked up card... >.>
 
i find the PS1 cards very touchy in the PS2. sometimes you have the play with positioning of the card in the slot until the machine can read it.
 
Ive never had that problem... I have a teal one that I used to leave in the slot for weeks at a time while I played Final Fantasy 1...
 
I am just trying 2 save ps1 games on the ps1 mem card. I've decided 2 just buy a new one, not on ebay, maybe at gamestop if they have it.
I'm glad that this didn't just happen 2 me. I thought my ps2 was screwed up at 1st!
 
That's strange...my PS 1 memory card works fine with my PS 2 and I have flat, thin one as well. I also haven't had ANY problems with my thin PS 2 either. Have you tried using both memory slots? I have my PS 2 memory card in the first one and my PS 1 memory card in the 2nd one.
 
i really cant get it my memery card is fine but still theres a problem it just doesnt work on my PS2 i have dicided to stop tring now
