I'm almost finished with FF VIII on my psp so I was browsing my games to see what I will play next. I was thinking either FF VII or FF IX when I saw I have Vagrant Story. I completely forgot I bought that one. Is vagrant story a good game? I know very little about it, on purpose because I don't want to risk finding out spoilers.

Vagrant Story is a very niche game. It's one of those titles that you either love or hate. Usually people with an interest in game design would eat it up and play it to death, but if you're looking for a light/easy play you're looking at the wrong title. This isn't like any game made before it as it is very unique. Even if the gameplay doesn't appeal to you, it has one heck of an interesting story. So definitely try it out at least, see how you like it. My personal opinion: it is one of, if not, the best in the PS1 library.

For me this game was very....interesting. I got it on psn because it takes place in Ivalice like the Tactics series which I love but I found myself easily getting lost in the dungeons. The gameplay is really unique and very impressive when you look at the time the game was made. What I think is kind of a fault are all the friggin dungeons and rooms. I'm not one for dungeon crawling so I naturally just think it is kind of so/so. I love the gameplay but I really don't like the dungeons. I've been stuck in the first dungeon of the game for like two years now -__- fighting bats and wolves.

thanks for the reply, just finished FF8 and I will try Vagrant Story tomorrow. I always like playing games that are unknow or niche. For example I also played Koudelka. It's a nice game but so far I have never met anyone that has even heard of Koudelka let alone played it. I will post in this thread once I've played 5-6 hours tomorrow.

Koudelka. :lew: I played the game for a few hours back when I was a teenager. Got sick to death with the main heroine and gameplay, so I traded it in.

I bought Vagrant Story on PSN last year. 2-3 hours into it, I'm still in the dungeon. I'm having a difficult time with the controls more than anything (not very fluid, but I expected that), though the beginning of the story did intrigue me. I'd still like to continue with the game though.
