Simple thread really. You might of had a bad day at work/school, or maybe you're ill, or heart broken. You sit in your room, and decide to put some tunes on.

What do you listen to?

Mine would have to be some sort of Ska Punk. I need to be in a possitive atmosphere when I'm blue, and ska punk fits that role perfectly. I love how the lyrics can be so depressing, but the music is so upbeat, that you just think "to hell with my problems, time to skank". I'd have to pick the Planet Smashers, Reel Big Fish, or Mu330 as real "pick me up" bands.

A bit of Nobuo music is great. It always makes me feel happy as I get to feel everything for all the characters through their themes that play etc.

But other than that David Bowie cheers me up a lot (just lots of really good songs), along with Oingo Boingo, Genesis and Peter Gabriel for similar reasons.

If I want something upbeat and move my feet to kind of stuff then The Cruxshadows, Absurd Minds, Deviant Uk and Covenant seem to do the trick for me recently. I seem to connect more with the lyrics in a lot of these ones.

A bit of humour is welcome too, so Voltaire helps cheer me up, but so do his more serious songs as well.

But it depends how I am feeling.. If I'm really not in the mood for the above, and want something quieter to relax to and help me unwind, I listen to Dead Can Dance and E.S Posthumus. Some really fantastic songs by both of them.

But on the whole I think it is mainly Nobuo, Bowie and Genesis/Peter Gabriel.

Meh. I need sleep NOW!

The Black Mages tend to do a great job of cheering me up :)
Dancing Mad is one of the greatest songs that I have ever heard hands down, Fight With Seymour also is an incredible song too. I think it's mainly because they're reminiscent of the games and of all the good times I had playing them :)

I would have to say some Three Days Grace will really get my blood boiling. And if im feeling really bad I like to listen to some Staind. To calm down me down I really like to listen to some classic rock, pretty much anything in that genre is cool. ;))

For me probably Alter Bridge. Mostly their softer songs like Broken Wings, Down to My Last and Watch Over You and if I was like "fuck this" then it would be Theory of a Deadman since most of their songs are about being dumped, heart broken or women cheating but more upbeat as in "screw that bitch" kind of way.

Coo' topic!
Here's my music list according to moods;

Sad: Evanescence, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, REM, Led Zeppelin

Mad: CheVelle, Linking Park, Disturbed, The Used, Blink 182, Tool, A Perfect Circle,

Happy: Utada Hikaru, Sublime, Maaya Sakamoto, Mariah Carey,
N Sync,
The Beach Boys, The Cure

Afraid: Keane, Skillet, Flyleaf, Emery

Anxious: 30 SECONDS TO MARS, Breaking Benjamin, Blink 182, Wolfmother, QUEEN, the WHO,

Fight Happy: CheVelle, 30 SECONDS TO MARS, Three Days Grace, AudioSlave, Nickleback, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica (old stuff)

Calm: Emery, Muse, Elvis Presley
,

Bored: Panic At The Disco, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert, Kasabian.

When I'm sad I tend to go for Leonard Cohen, especially Chelsea Hotel No. 2 and So Long Marianne...and, of course, Famous Blue Raincoat. The Mulholland Drive OST is nice too, both because its atmosphere and the fact that it makes me think of the movie. It just kind of numbs my brain. Russian Circle's Enter is another amazing album for when I feel like crap, and it's really the only post-metal I've heard that moves me.

I listen to tons of different things with different emotions.

Sad-Evanescence, Flyleaf, Rascal Flatts, Creed, Eagles

Mad-Disturbed, SlipKnot, Metallica, Paramore, Mudvayne, AC/DC, Linkin Park, Killswitch Engaged(lotta stuff mainly for the gym)

Happy or in a good mood- Alan Jackson, some reggaeton(Daddy Yankee, Voltio, Hector El Father, Wisin y Yandel), Motley Crue, Ozzy, Papa Roach(stuff I can either jam to or just dance and fool around with)

Dunno what to feel- SPin the music library on shuffle and take em as they come.

Anything by lostprophets, its fast the lyrics are awesome and ian has an amazing voice. In particular the album liberation transmission, when i listen to it i relax, if im in a bad mood from work i can turn it on and unwind.
The other artist would be jimmy eat world they have got such a broad mix of fast songs and really slow emotional songs, smae again i turn them on and im instantly relaxed and de-stressed.
Without these albums id be a raging mess.

I usually listen to Final Fantasy songs when this happens to me. When I am sad I would have Aerith's theme playing or some Xenosaga music like godsibb. Anyways I just really put Final Fantasy music on.

I'm going to say As I lay Dying and August Burns Red. They are two of my favorite bands and I can always throw on one of their albums and listen to it the whole way through.

It depends what's wrong with me, sometimes I listen to music in which the lyrics relate to whatever's wrong, as it gives me some kind of comfort. Angel by Sarah McLachlan is a lovely song and can be applied to nearly every situation. >_> It's so emotional yet really quite comforting too, because you can tell that she understands whatever feelings you're going through.

Err.. I can't really think of any other specific bands or anything. >_>

I have a relatively eclectic selection of music on my computer, ranging from Country, to Metal, to Rap, to Screamo, to Classical... and oddly enough, the one artist that helps when I'm down is Johnny Cash. American IV: The Man Comes Around is a really inspiring album, especially the titular song. There's a lot of covers on it (Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode, Bridge Over Troubled Water) and I like all his versions more than the originals.

Regardless of how i'm feeling (Sad, Angry, Heartbroken etc etc) i always find Turisas make me feel alive again, Battle Metal is a truely amazing song no matter what mood you are in, really makes you wanna just shout!

It would really depends if I want to really enjoy I would choose System of a Down or Linkin Park (The older Albums) I really think they have great songs I like the lyrics, and the beat, it's just really good.

I don't really listen to music to lift me up from a bad mood. I just think about what's troubling me and try to work it out. But I have noticed that listening to Queen generally lifts my mood, maybe I should try listening to Queen the next time I am feeling down :/

ABBA never fails to cheer me up again when I'm feeling kinda down. Their songs are just so happy and fun, I can't help it. Girls Aloud have similar effects, they're my current favourite group, and they always make me happy =]

I think that the old classics never fail to cheer you up - S Club 7, Steps; the lot. Not a lot of modern music has a particularly cheery feel to it; they're upbeat but not necessarily cheerful. One example of a cheery song would probably be Explosive by Bond, which never fails to please or make me bop along.

I think if I was mad or depressed, I would listen to Three Days Grace and/or Coheed & Cambria. They seem to be the bands that make me happy(not that way for all the pervs).
