Just so we don't end up having tons of threads titled "What did you name character X?" Here is a universal, What did you name your FF character thread. :D And since it is in Final Fantasy Fun, you can just make big long lists for all the characters if you chose to change their name.

And of course, if you never change your characters names, but have been tempted to name them something random, you can post that here too. :D

The Zidane and Dagger threads will be archived, but feel free to repeat what you posted in those threads in here.

I'm one for keeping the original names mainly because to me, personally, I just feel more comfortable viewing the names that Square had given the characters originally...apart from FFII when I used mod's names as the characters xD
I'm not sure exactly what the 4 names were for FFII but I'll go have a check later and then edit this post. :neomon:
 
i stick with default names, except occasionally i name the characters after irl family and friends. i forget which i named them after though and i really don't feel like looking through everything to find out. nice idea Rydia!
 
I lack originality, so I left their names the same. I only changed Garnets name to Fang after the wolf-like thing i Fought back in the Evil Forest, then i decided to be funny and change her name to "Knife", then i decided eh...and changed it to Dagger.

I'm currently thinking of a funny name, so that i can get a laugh when Zidane says "Bring me my precious <Garnets Name>.

I'm open to suggestions. :D.

Squall was GMAN, Rinoa was Rose, her dog Angelo was MOOSE, Quezacotl was TRUE... and*sighs* Ifrit was WHAAAAAAATSUP. yeah. I kept all other FF names the same though. and in my second playthrough of FF8 i changed no names lol

I always left names as they were. Though I called Garnet Knife once like you.
 
I did a mix of Cruel Intentions and Buffy for my second play through for VII.

Cloud - Sebastian
Tifa - Annette
Barret - Ronald
Aerith - Cecille
Yuffie - Katheryn
Cid - Giles
Vincent - Angel
Cait Sith - Xander
Red XIII - Oz


My friend changed all of his on VIII first time through, but i've forgotten all the names but one which was Shiva = Shinyass :D
 
I just leave the names on defaults most of the time, TBH...

Although during one playthrough of CT, I used the following names:
- Chrono: Cloud
- Marle: Aeris
- Lucca: Yuffy (not enough room for Yuffie in CT)
- Robo: Baret (ditto for Barret)
- Ayla: Tifa
- Frog: Frog
- Magus: Sephy (no room for Sephiroth, obviously)
 
I never change my names. Even in FFI It took me about an hour before I could finally start the game itself. I really suck at naming.
That's why in The Sims 2, I name them to fit a certain patern. Like this family has names beginning with L or M or I just follow the alfabeth or I turn on the TV an take the first name I hear. Or I even go as far as just to adopt kids just so I wont have to think of names myself.

Thank god pregnancy takes 9 months..

I usually keep the orignal names, except in FFVI when I named Strago "OLDGUY". Oh and I changed their names to make them lower-case, as all the letters in their names were originally uppercase, "LOCKE" turns to "Locke"
 
I was unlucky and named Zidane Marcus instead after me, and to my surprise a guy named Marcus rushes in later and boom, restart.
 
I always keep their default names, but sometimes I'll name the main character "Gr3y" if I hate the name (Like Bartz in FF5)

I don't officially name them like that, I just give them nicknames.
As for Zidane and Tidus I actually named them so in the game :wacky:
 
I usually gave the lead heroine my name lol and then either leave the male characters with their names or use DragonBall Z ones!
