so I found this trope under fridge brilliance and apparently it's obvious, so I must be stupid because I don't get what this person's saying!

Bevelle and Zanarkand were at war 1000 years ago. Yevon, concentrated in Bevelle, has been battling for 1000 years against Sin, which contains the remains of Zanarkand. Yuna is from Bevelle. Tidus is from Zanarkand. May seem obvious to some, but this troper nearly dropped her drink. Instead, I'll toast to Square with it. Good show.

The trope in FFX is that two sides of the coin, Tidus is Zanarkand which represents the machina, and the dream while Yuna is the opposite. She stands for Yevon, represents the traditional teachings, and is set in reality.

Fridge Brilliance: That feeling where you first see something and it doesn't feel right. Then sometime later you realize you were missing a piece of the puzzle and everything begins to make sense.
