I've been wondering about this for a while now but what happened to Aerith's foster mom? (cant remember her name) Did she die or just randomly disappear? I don't know if this is actually told somewhere but if it is does anyone wanna tell me?

Heh, I kind of forgot about Elmyra. You can visit her again after Aerith's death in her home, so she's presumably alive at the end of FFVII, but that was pretty much it for her involvement in the story *shrugs*
Her name is Elmyra, and she doesn't die. You can visit her late in the game if you have obtained the Sector 7 Key from Bone Village.
Didn't she get kidnapped along with Marlene though?
No. They don't even mention Elmyra when Marlene gets kidnapped.

Hmm... I was well sure that somewhere in the game it mentioned that she gets kidnapped along with Marlene. When Cait Sith uses that radio when he gives the thingy that open the Temple Of The Ancients to Tseng in the Golden Saucer
You can't revisit Elmyra, the house is empty after the events in Midgar on Disc 1 and remains so. Cait Sith (aka Reeve) captures them as an insurence thing and then relocates them to Kalm just before Meteor Fall.

Don't remember her being in it, and I can't recall her being mentioned in any of the OaWtaS stories. :\

Actually Reeves tells elmyra about the bad news. And yeah when you revisit Aeris old house, She isnt there no more. Maybe she moved and meet some guy or something.

No she got moved kalm by reeve it mentions it in DoC or one of the other spin-odd's i believe although i'm not sure.

Irrelevant of what may be stated in one or several of the compilations, we can assume from the original game that she ended up in Kalm since Marlene obviously did.
im pretty sure she was relocated to Kalm prior to meteor hitting, as she was lookin after Marlene whilst everyone else was out saving the world, and as people here have said Marlene was moved to kalm, so it seems logical that Elmyra went aswell
Holy shit I had no idea this thread existed, but I'm bumping it up anyway to give explanation. Elmyra, as we know it, is still alive and well. In Case of Tifa, it explains that the gang went and visited Elmyra after meteorfall and the lifestream emergence. They had to break the news of Aerith's death to her. Tifa recalls that Elmyra says to her, after they repeatedly apologize, that it's okay and she's sure they did everything they could to save her, but Cloud and Tifa both wonder if they really did do everything to save her or not. Then later, which is what causes Cloud to become so withdrawn, Elmyra sends Cloud to deliver a bouquet of flowers to Aerith's grave bringing back his remorse and sorrow all over again. So yeah, Elmyra is still alive and kickin'.

If you speak to Barret just as you leave Midgar for the first time (after raiding Shinra HQ), he says Elmyra has left Midgar and taken Marlene somewhere safe. :3
