I have a problem...
Exams are done and I have too much free time. So I wanna play an FF game on my PS2.
The titles I have for psx / ps2 are FF VII, FF VIII, FF X, FF XII.
I really can't choose which one to play :(
Even though I really wasn't a fan of FF X or FF VIII, I want to give it another try. Also I would want to try the low level trick in FF VIII.

I suggest trying FFVIII again, before moving onto X.

Both are decent games, and seeing as you want to give VIII another chance, I say, go for it!

Play FFVIII, I would even if I don't like it but mine is already dead. -__- maybe you'll like it this time, who knows. =\ After that try FFX, it's a decent game and of the best. :|

Play VIII again, give it another chance, then play X after it, coz like it's longer. Also, if you're planning on doing that low level shizz, it's give you summat other to aim for as opposed to just running through the game

Also, it IS a great game, people just seem to either love it or hate it xD

Also, X is a brilliant game aswel

Oooh on a side note, have you played FFIX? If you haven't and you can get a copy of it, play that if you've never played it before

speak or silence

I say play them in order. Or vice versa like XII, X, VIII, VII. Like you said though you didn't like FFVIII so I would won't tell you to play it. Although if you want to bear through it the graphics are great.

X and VIII are both brilliant, X is my favourite but i would say go and play VIII, you can have a lot of fun maxing out stats in this game and tetra master is brilliant fun. The storyline is great with the laguna parts even better. Theyre all hreat games but i say go for VIII seeing as you wernt a huge fan of it.

Yeah the card games were much fun xD. I also have FF9 on a rom somewhere. Can't find it anywhere in shops. Too bad cause its a great game. I think I'll go start with FFX. I just saw a movie on youtube where a guy beats the super boss, Penance, which is optional. And also ause I wanna try blitzball again. I just gotta master the game :p

OK, here comes a long-ass post.

FFVIII and FFX are both awesome games in their own right, but I do, however think that FFX is the superior game, for the reasons I’m about to state: FFVIII’s story wasn’t particularly that good and the random flash-backs with Laguna sometimes made it confusing. Also, the Junctioning system was annoyingly complicated and apart from the card game there weren’t any mini-games to distract you from the main quest. You can level-up frighteningly quickly in FFVIII too – I got all of my characters from level 70 to level 99 in just a few hours. And apart from Omega Weapon, the game isn’t that challenging either, because every boss you fight levels out according to you characters stats, which basically means it’s never necessary for you spend any time levelling-up.

FFX story, in comparison to FFVIII’s is much better, and so are the characters. Rikku provides the comic relief; Auron is hiding a dark secret that is only revealed at the end of the game and the love-story between Tidus and Yuna progresses nicely. The game is also a lot more challenging too, even when you’ve completed the game you can depart on loads of side-quests, most interesting of them all is hunting down all the dark aeons, which are incredibly difficult to defeat, especially the Dark Bahumut. The game is a lot more user-friendly too; you can basically make your own unique weapons, which is fun. Oh, and there’s also the awesome Blitz Ball mini-game, which is essentially a game of basketball underwater. The graphics in FFX are beautiful too and the musical-score is breath-taking, especially the ZanarKand Ruins sound-track (see here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=E6V_glBUtAk ) Absoutely breath-taking, eh? In my opinion, FFVIII is overrated. If you’re going to play one of them, make it FFX. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
