Playstation What is this?

This game was probably one of the most unpopular FF games, it was on the old black and white gameboy.

Unpopular is the wrong word. It recieved pretty good reviews when it came out and it was known as one of the major RPGs for the GBs. Not that that meant all that much by the time Pokémon was released. It was popular enough to recieve a remake. Sword of Mana was released for the GBA a few years ago.

Just like the Final Fantasy Legend games, this is not a 'true' Final Fantasy. It's actually the first Seiken Densetsu/Mana game. The Final Fantasy brand was wellknown among gamers back then, so the publisher decided it would be better to change the title to Final Fantasy Adventures. In Europe the game is known as Mystic Quest.

Actually, there were several FFs for the old Game Boy: Adventure, Legend, Legend II, and Legend III (although none of them were FFs in Japan). I liked Adventure, it was a very good game for its time. The Legends didn't thrill me much though.

And it wasn't that unpopular. It got very good reviews.

All thats true expect for fact that in europe its mystic quest & about sword of mana. Final Fantasy Mystic quest was a crappy game for gameboy color in which you had a char. & would get npcs to join you for hard battles. Final Fantasy Adventure is a real time final fantasy game simliar to the likes of Zelda. Very fun. Sword of mana=remake what the hell are you thinking?! Have you even played final fantasy adventure its a hell of a lot different. Sword of mana also features a real time battle system but is much more complex than a remake of final fantasy adventure. Besides I don't remember being a slave in the start of Sword mana, or being able to pick my gender in ffa 2 completly different games.

Final Fantasy Adventure (GB) = Seiken Densetsu in Japan
Secret of Mana (SNES) = Seiken Densetsu 2 in Japan
Secret of Mana 2 (SNES) = Seiken Densetsu 3 in Japan (never released in the US)
Dawn of Mana (PS2) = Seiken Densetsu 4 in Japan (US release in March)
Sword of Mana (GBA) = Shinyaku Seiken Densetsu in Japan
Children of Mana (DS) = Seiken Densetsu DS

Sword of Mana wasn't a direct sequel of FFA, but they are all a part of the Seiken Densetsu series.

yeah duh, but its more of ressurection of the mana or sekein densetsu series then a remake of the first game.

Obviously... no one is even trying to say that Sword of Mana is a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure...

Final Fantasy Adventure was called Mystic Quest in Europe. Would you like a picture of the cartridge? You're confusing the game with another game know as Mystic Quest, Mystic Quest Legend for the SNES (known as Final Fantasy Mystic Quest in America).

Sword of Mana is a remake, you can still find the original game in it, but as lot was added. I mean, be honest to yourself, if they hadn't there wouldn't have been a lot of game to play.

And yes, the game starts almost exactly the same. Castle, gladiator/slave, Jackal... only it's in colour and Willy doesn't die a second after we meet him.

This and this should bring back some memories. And surely you can remember Wendel, the town of Jadd, Julius, Medusa. Devius? Oh noes, it's spelled differently, surely this cannot be the same character!

Frankly, I think you're an idiot for not recognising al the similarities.

final fantasy mystic quest is a snes game that got re named in europe as mystic quest legend .... i have the cart ...... and yeah final fantasy adventure is seiken densetsu 1 ... i love the seiken / mana series .... hence the name :P

edit : i only read the first page :P i see someone has already stated what i have just said :P

The graphics are much like Pokemon Red/Blue. That style. I found this pic on google showing the graphics:

Nothing special, but it was for the Gameboy Classic. (The big chunky one). Great game though, if you ever see it for a couple of quid, it's well worth the buy.
