This is quite simple really, what is your favourite song?
And I don't mean what is your favourite song at the moment, so you cannot keep posting in this excellent thread to increase your post count.
You may not have one favourite song, if you do not that is fine, but do not list about ten fucking billion songs all of which are your favourite. One or two only.
Since I have been so generous as to create this thread I shall tell you what my favourite song is.
It is 'Killing In the Name' by Rage Against The Machine.
There are many reasons to love it. The main reason is that it's powerful, I don't mean powerful in an emotional sense, it's a brutal song. The riffs and the drumming are incredibly brutal. But because Tom Morello is not a shithouse metal guitarist there are lovely touches of class and subtlety that contrast with the power of the rest of the song. Then there's the guitar solo which is very good, but not Tom Morello's best I think. Finally there's the 'Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me' and then there's the 'motherfucker'.
It's a song I've listened to around 700-800 times and I still love it. Some songs you eventually get bored of after you've heard it a certain amount of time, but not this song.

I haved asked myself this question fairly often over the years and it has shifted; there have always been at least 5 that tie! However, only one has remained a constant. Suteki Da Ne from Final Fantasy X. I therefore feel it's my absolute favourite and it's certainly very deserving of this title! The piece is simply beautiful. It's well arranged and every instrument and voice is played with heart. The strings and Rikki manage to express the true sadness in X's story, along with the hope, laughter and happiness. :)

I don't know if I can say I have a definite favorite. i really like music with a violent flow that talks about an arduous inner struggle with your shadow self, hatred and indomitable pride.

many Disturbed and Drowning Pool songs come to mind, Lose Yourself by Eminem, New York State of Mind by Nas, etc. It's really difficult to pick.

I've never really given much thought to having a "favorite" song. This is conflicting :(

there's the love, the hate, the struggle, the calm urrrrgghhh

fuck you, fuck this thread :rage:
it's just going to have to settle for one of my many favorites

RIP Nujabes also props to fon, but Nujabes was the shit.

I'd probably say Shine by Mr. Big. It's one of those songs that has rather sad lyrics, but the overall feel of the song is uplifting and hopeful. Gives me a feel-good sensation when I listen to it and it never fails to cheer me up.

A close second is Who Cares? by Extreme. Probably one of the most underrated bands I can think of and they've somewhat fallen into obscurity. But this song is amazing. It's part of a three song ballad that all together is called Everything Under the Sun. It conveys a lot of emotions ranging from a feeling of ambition and excitement, to feeling insecure and uneasy about the choices you've made, and finally accepting who you are in the greater scheme of things and just kinda saying "Fuck it, this is me." The third part, Who Cares?, is my favorite section.

As soon as I read the thread title, I had my answer within seconds. :wacky:

I actually love most songs from The Weepies, but this one takes the cake. It's about endings, knowing what to keep and let go, and starting over. It's the bittersweet process that is life. Very beautiful melody and lyrics. ♥

Nirvana - "Aerozeppelin" is my all time favorite.

Honorable mentions:

Candlemass - "Solitude"
Bathory - "A Fine Day To Die"
Led Zeppelin - "Over The Hills and Far Away"

"Firefly" by Breaking Benjamin.

Wow.... This song is just magical. I truly feel like I'm free when I hear this song. No worries, just me in my personal world.

Others include:
"Always" by Saliva
"Diary of Jane" by Breaking Benjamin
" In The End" by Linkin Park
