when you summon a gf and hold down SELECT, this weird little fist comes up in the corner with like a number next to it. does anyone know what thats about?:confused:
 
If I remember, continuously tapping the select button will raise the number and makes your GF exponentially more powerful. Tapping = Good
 
What you do is you tap the square button when the hand is there, and stop tapping when the hand has an X over it. Its called boosting, it makes the GF hit for more, they learn the ability Boost and then they can do it.:) Hope that helps.

lol it took me a little bit to figure it out too. When I got really powerful I droped boost from the abilities so I could watch the summon without tempted to boost. I tended to like it better that way.
 
Someone had to tell me about that, I was learning the boost ability for my GF's just thinking it boosted their stenght a little....I'm so thick :wacky:

But yeah, it's pretty much covered above, just madke sure when you get a new GF you prioritise learning boost. It only costs 10ap and it's worth it :)
 
Lol i never knew about this until i checked the tutorial in balamb garden. This is the best way to tottaly own ifrit in the fire cavern. Just learn boost with shiva and hes dead in a few summons. :)
 
I first read about boost in a walkthrough! I also learned that you can also boost Eden to the max of 250 pts! The max boost combined with Eden's Summon +40% ability you are able to score the "fabled" 5 figure dmg! Eden doesn't have the 9999 dmg limit!
 
Thats like the basic's boosting a summon the higher the number the more power you get out of your summon. If i remember corectly a level 100 eden with 255 boost inflicts like 65 000 damage.

I diddn't know Eden had no damage limit, that's quite an interesting stat. Would help alot against

but yes, I had a friend who had FF8 before me, and he pretty much told me what boost does. lol, I wonder how long it would of took for me to find out if he diddn't tell me. I like to think i would of figured it out quick though. :zip:

You remember incorrectly. You can't break the damage limit in FF8. Boost is the original amount of damage multiplied by the boost level over one hundred.
Essentially x X y/z= the amount of damage done.
 
@Paradox
There is one catch though...
Eden is VERY slow 2 summon and his animation takes VERY long, so I don't think you'll be able 2 cast him safely between all the Hell Judgments and Apocalypses...
...maybe U could, but U're gonna have 2 burn LOTS of enemies with him (pretty tiresome if U ask me)...
