Obviously I mean out of the voiced Final Fantasy games so 10, 10-2, 12, 13, 13-2 and I suppose any on the handheld systems that may have VAs (do any others even exist??)

I think 12 has the best voice acting. The vocies are a little muffled at times but the way the characters talk is still very believable and not over the top. Even a lot of the npc's have good voice acting! They couldn't have picked a better VA for Balthier.

I think FFX and FFX-2 had the worst VA's. They were awkward sounding (do I need to mention the laughing scene??) and it seemed like the Voice Actors didn't take into account any full stops or grammar when they were talking, they kind of just rush through their lines which annoys me a bit. I think Auron had the only good VA in the whole thing.

Now you :toni:

I'm not sure any of the FF games had good voice acting to be honest. I'll go with FF10, simply because Tidus and Yuna's voice actors had to embarrass themselves so much in the laughing scene :wacky: .
FF4 had alright voice acting though I think :hmmm:. I'm not all too sure :p

Liam O'Brien as Caius ought to make Final Fantasy XIII-2's voice acting good on his own, but everyone else in the game takes it down to average level.

I also nominate FFXII to have the best voice acting. The highly compressed audio doesn't bother me much. It's not like it obfuscates things that badly the voices sound as monotonic as Lightning's.

They have done an excellent job all round with FFXII. THIS is the majesty you get when you have a superb localisation and translation work by some of the best people in the industry, and a couple or so Shakespearean actors mixing in with established voice actors such as Kari Wahlgren.

I don't think there were any games with voice acting I can confidently say were "bad" or "the worst". To Ali Hillis's credit, her monotone work fit for someone as flat and uninteresting as Lightning. Okay, ignoring Vanille for a moment, FFXIII's circus wasn't that bad. I can take it out on Troy Baker for Snow as well, but then I realised that it's not the guy's fault either. It's the chump who WROTE Snow's character and his damn dialogue.

While I don't hate X's voice acting like some people do, it's not my favorite. XII was most definitely great all together. With the exception of the most annoying character ever, Fran, everybody else did great with their voices. In particular Balthier and Ashe when she wasn't gasping or whatever the fuck that is. XD LOL Lord Voldemort (Larsa :hmph: ) didn't do bad either.

I don't particularly like any of the voice acting in final fantasy's, primarily because I cringe at near-any cheese, but if I had to pick the least cringy... I'd probably choose SOME of the actors from X.

Auron's actor(I can't be arsed to google it) in particular did his job great, while James Arnold Taylor made Tidus sound decent... Until that laughing scene. The one which haunts my nightmares...

But yeah, I'd play FF on mute if the music wasn't as good as it is... I have to sit through the voice acting though... :sad3:

Out of the games I've played with voice acting (X, XII and some of XIII), I didn't think XII or XIII were bad overall. X was godawful and I actually turned the volume down just so I didn't have to hear the voices. Overall, I'd say XII was the best because there weren't any character voices that made me cringe. XIII had Vanille who made these weird moaning sounds all the time and overall the voice actress sounded like she was trying to voice a seven year old. It really annoyed me every time she spoke.

It's been a while since I played XII but I remember the voices being pretty good overall.

The voice acting in FFXIII/-2 was great.

Hadn't played XII so I don't know what say about them.

Yuna sounded like she had a dying overgrown pineapple tree stuck in her throat, and Tidus had an OK voice. Auron out shinned all of them though lol.

I'd go for FFXIII, followed by XII, XIII-2, X-2 and finally X. For their first foray into voice acting, X isn't THAT bad, but when compared to the later games it definitely shows its flaws.

It's a tough one. I don't agree in general when people say X had bad voice acting, I thought the acting was pretty good, it was often very emotional and I totally bought it most of the time.

As for the best of FF voice acting though, that has to go to XIII-2. Caius and Noel's voice actors were amazing, I am in love with Noel and a lot of that is because of his voice actor. Serah wasn't as good as the two boys, but she was definitely still good. So that has to be the best imo.

Second place probably XII because of the old English and how flawlessly most of the actors performed it. Can't have been easy to make it sound natural as well as putting in the emotion etc.

While X is my favorite, the laughing scene? uhhh no. Balthier was great in my opimion, so I would lean towards XII.

In my head though, VII hands down. Red XIII had a great voice (in my head). Was I the only one would give each character a different voice when reading?

I have to agree XII is the best, but yes, any of the voices done by Liam O'Brien are amazing (he wasn't just Caius, he was also Kain in the FFIV 3D remake, various PSICOM soldiers in FFXIII, some random parts in FFVII: DoC, FFCC, and maybe a few others). Perhaps he would be included with the 'over the top' actors, though...his voice is terrific, but you never hear anyone talk like that IRL :P XII was indeed very realistic and believable all across the board, though.

I'd say FF10. The voices were corny, but they were...GOOD corny because they made the game fun to watch and play.

Aw...FF4...it was so cute on the DS. I liked their voices, too. ^_^

Of course, FF12 is the one that really wins. Balthier's voice was amazing, and especially Basch! But the thing is that the game doesn't really stand out to me, so I don't wanna say it's the best in voice acting.
