Poll: Who won the festival of the Hunt?

Title basically says it all lol, I'm in need of new thread ideas.


Zidane(Me) won the festival, and I was 5,000 gil richer.

I also put Lani up just for the hell of it, I've never actually seen her win before, but once it came close to being that way. Has anyone ever had Lani win?

Hah, I remember this! I was actually obsessed with it for awhile because Freya or Vivi kept winning, so I would restart the game so many times until I can get Zidane to win so he can have a date with Garnet (but alas, the game cheated!) I had to really pay close attention to all the three districts. It was fun and definitely worth while despite the countless hours I spent my time on with this particular game.

Anyway, I found out that it's best to actually have Freya win the game in the end because the item you get is much more valuable or something...? I forgot the details, but I remember that when I finally got to see Zidane's side, I restarted and let Freya win so I can acquire the item and get on with the game.
 
I loved the Festival of the Hunt. Much competition! The rush of *trying* to find all those enemies...

I kept resetting and made everyone win just to see the end result for the lulz, but in the end I chose Freya. That accessory came in very handy, IIRC.
 
I always win it myself as Zidane - in retrospect now I really should let Freya win one time, as said what she gets for winning is pretty usefulXD

I do like the Festival of the Hunt.

Yes, when Freya wins, you get a "Coral Ring", which I gave to Vivi. The first time I did it, Vivi won, and i forget the card he wins, But i restarted the game, found the synthesis shop by accident and made "The Ogre" killing enemies was very easy, using the Mythril Dagger complicated things >.>.

It was handy, after Vivi mastered some of the things it offered, I gave it back to Freya, then to Zidane. You can also make the Coral Ring, in a synthesis shop, you need 1 rod, 1 Lightning Staff, and 1200 gil.

The first time I think Freya won. Coral Ring + Freya = Lancer = w00t!
I purposely try to lose on the play through so Freya can win. I can't remember the card that Vivi gets for winning though.
 
I usually always let Zidane win, only so I can use the gil for the synthesis shop. Then I turn around and usually make a coral ring as soon as possible, since I just usually stay around the area to learn some abilities. I think you get some random card, or it might be a weak ass airship card you get if Vivi wins.

What you said got me thinking, and I played Final Fantasy IX again, loaded the part before the Festival, Ko'd myself against the Zanghol, and Vivi won an Airship Card, the Theatre Ship Card, to be more specific. I checked some sites, and they claim its random.

Better either to let Freya win, or make your own Coral with Zidanes 5000 gil, aka what you alrdy mentioned :P.

I remember when i accidently climbed up that ladder, and encountered my first Grand Dragon, Zidane had the Coral Ring equipped, and the Dragon used a Thundaga which owned Freya, Quina, and ViVi Zidane lived thanks to the Coral Ring. I quickly used Flee, and never went there again XD.

As for the festival, I usually win as Zidane. Though last time I played, I ended up losing so I restarted the game. I haven't played since then, but maybe I'll just let Freya win since everyone says she gets a good item. :)
 
I always make Zidane win, it's rather easy, seeing as you just have to kill a few monsters in the other two districts, and then kill the Zaghnol to win the thing.

Maybe I should let Freya win then, if this Coral Ring is so good. What does it do?

The Coral Ring teaches Freya Lancer

&

It absorbs Lightning attacks, very useful! :)
 
I usually let Freya win since getting the Coral Ring is very nice accessory early on in the game.

I reallly don't need the cash or the card, I usually get cash pretty easily by doing the Rag Time Mouse sidequest, digging sometimes upto 5000 gil in Chocobo's forest and by getting 10000 gil plus the Moonstone by impressing all 100 nobles in the sword fight. XD
 
At first I thought winning was necessary if you wanted to beat the game. I thought that if you lost that it would be game over. :P But after a little while of running around the districts I realized that it would be stupid to have to start the game over just because you didn't get a date with a girl, so I just let Freya win. :)
 
I let Zidane win it first time to see the reactions of the other characters. Afterwards, I let Freya win it, and found that the Coral Ring was rather useful. Then I let Vivi win it by allowing the Zaghanol defeat both Zidane and Freya. The Airship card was rather useless....If it were a Namingway card, then perhaps it would be more useful.
 
i tried to win as Zidane, just to see the date scene, but i ran out of potions and died against a monster so Freya won. i'm really happy that did win though, as the coral ring kicks ass. lighting absorb + Freya using lancer= invincible!
 
The first time I played through the game, Freya won it. I had no idea where to go or how many creatures were roaming around so I just sorta wondered around fighting maybe 3 or 4 monsters until time ran out.

The second time I tried to play through the game I whooped on the competition and won it with Zidane.
