Why do people think Aeris is soo innocent?

WHy do people think of Aeris as a pure innocent virginal flower girl when in Final Fantasy 7 she is anything but that? She is a manipulative, flirty succubus who tries to steal cloud from tifa and flirts with other men . Even as a kid I cheered when Sephiroth :inlove: killed that whore . Cloud was much too good for her anyway.
 
Were you the same person who called her a Succubus in the 'Ugly FF Characters' thread? I'd honestly never heard her called that before. Sure, i'd agree that in a way she is manipulative but it doesn't seem in a malicious way; it seems something in her playful and flirty subconscious.

Sounds like we have a Tifa fan on our hands.
 
Yeah, from what I've seen, she seems like the flirty type. So I guess she isn't innocent in that sense. However, I can tell that she's very pure and has a loving heart. I don't think she would intentionally do something bad or evil. She just cares. :)
 
She's a very flirty girl, it seems. But she is also presented as pure and innocent. I can see how this can be regarded as a contradiction, but it's a very particular type of flirting. She's not lifting up her skirt and curling her leg around her pole.

She's seen as innocent because of the design of the character and the various religious symbolism which the creators had drawn from to create a sense of saint-like holiness and devotion.

Aerith's house is the only building in the slums of Midgar ('under the rotting pizza', as the locals say), which appears to have sunlight and crops.

She regularly tends to flowers which grow in the slum church, and she sells flowers to the citizens of Midgar because she wants to bring brightness into the lives of people. Flowers themselves are typically pure symbols, also.

She also wears a long dress, which is very modest. This dress is also pink, which a lot of people see as a cute and girly colour, but also quite peaceful and innocent, sometimes.

This is all in her design.

She is also innocent because she did, as far as we know, not do bad or dark things. Many other characters also did not do bad things, but for Aerith they milk it a bit.

She also has a link to 'holy', and there is a lot of white magic symbolism.


But Aerith is also very flirty with soldier boys. That doesn't make her any less innocent in terms of her morality, unless she was manipulating and hurting them. I don't think there is evidence for this, but I am out of the loop somewhat. Her serious boyfriend of note is Zack. Depending on personalised player interpretations of the game, perhaps Cloud could also have been.

I think she's naturally flirty around soldier boys, and people in general sometimes. She's the archetypal happy and cheerful girl who tries to grab what she wants, and tries to make people happy because she feeds on positivism, etc. I can imagine that the flip-side to this is that hearts could be broken, but I think Aerith would probably be unaware of this, or by then she'd be talking to someone else equally as playfully. This is oftentimes a dangerous personality type for a poor man's heart to encounter, but not maliciously so on Aerith's part (if this is the case). Perhaps naivety.
 
Because she's written as a Mary Sue, who are all very sweet and innocent and forgiving. She was designed to come across that way.
 
AH HA HA!!!! I LOL'd when I saw this...because it's actually true. -_-

That WAS rude of her to know that Tifa had feelings for Cloud, but went for him anyway, especially seeing as to how her base for the attraction was from Zack, ANOTHER guy who Cloud only REMINDED her of. But I suppose the reason is because she also saved the planet by holding and calling Holy; she was the answer to everyone's problems and continued to save them time and time again (FF7:AC), DESPITE that personality. You could say...she's an odd character that truly contradicts herself, but in a loving, fun, and witty way. I think that's why she's so forgiven. I understand how you feel, but from my point of view, I can't dislike a character like her because of such a contradiction. Even Tifa herself can't dislike her.

Aerith is considered to be innocent purely because she is. Viewers have attached all sorts of implications to her words and actions, which, if just viewed from a different angle, could mean and portray something else entirely.

She is a person who met and fell in love with a soldier who seemed to be as light hearted and happy as she was. In all of her interaction with Zack, she was playful and gentle, not flirty; she wasn't making sexual overtures, she wasn't being superficial with him and she certainly wasn't merely trifling with his feelings- you don't write 89 letters to a guys whose feelings you don't care about.

Five years after Zack's death she meets Cloud, another soldier member, one that has similar eyes to the ones she admired so much. He speaks of things that makes her think of Zack, a love who's fate she still hasn't been told about. It is only natural that in these circumstances that she would want to get closer to a person who seemingly has ties to her lost love. At no stage throughout the game does Aerith deliberately entice Cloud away from Tifa using sexual innuendos, she doesn't put down Tifa in order to try to take her place by Cloud's side. Her only aim is to help her friends, something she does whilst still dealing with all the emotions she has concerning her lost Zack.

I would be willing to bet, that any "flirtatious overtures" Aerith makes to anyone, are only meanings we attach to her words.
 
i dont think shes innocent :/ i mean she can look into peoples dreams. who knows what is going on while they are unconscious....*shudders*
 
I adore Aeris/Aerith in Final Fantasy VII. I love how caring and how pure her soul is. I'm just extremely drawn to her and love her character.

I have to say I think you are digging too deep into some things, I mean when she first met Cloud she knew nothing about Tifa. Secondly, if you go on the date with her during the Golden Saucer event, she says she wants to know the "real Cloud" so she realizes herself that he is way too much like Zack for it to be just a quincidence. In a way she is trying to help Cloud find the real him.

The "flirting" as we call it, could be her having feelings for both the "real Cloud" and the Zack still inside Cloud... who she was in love with, but after 5 years wouldn't you try to move on also? Just saying...
 
I blame Advent Children were they gave her a goddess like figure and goddess powers. She was quite flirty in the original game and was rather keen to see Cloud in drag. Aeris did have Ancient powers in the original but they didn't Mary Sue her like they did in the movie/s.

She does have a innocent nature though, though at the same time older Aeris is not completely quite pure in a way. Advent Children throws that balance Aeris had out the window.

Aeris grew up in the slums so like says she's used to danger and she's most likely seen some shit though her cheerful and positive nature makes her survive through the rough slums. She needed to be mentally strong, she needed to be sort of innocent.
 
It just annoys me how people excuse aeris for being a manipulative slut but crucify sephiroth for doing what he thought his momma wanted. Sephiroth is not evil, he's been through alot he. If you thought your race was killed and their land stolen by evil humans you would want revenge too. Sephiroth's mind was roken when he tried to summon meteor so it's not his fault, he wasnt in control of his actions. Aeris on the other hand knew what she was doing. She was a manipulative slut who goes around breaking people's hearts. She didn't even care about cloud at all. She just wanted to use him as a replacement for Zack in her sexual deviancy. Being impaled by sephiroth was a much too good of a death for her.

It annoys me when people ship her with Sephiroth. Sephiroth is much too good for Aeris.

@applet Wowsers. You know, if Aerith is considered a slut these days, then girls shouldn't be showing their ankles. That's pretty strong language you're throwing around there; "whore", "manipulative slut", all directed at a video game girl who only had the chance to like two guys in her life. :wtf:

Aeris tried to steal Cloud away from Tifa even though she knew that Tifa was truly in love with cloud. Aeris only wanted cloud to be a replacement for zack .She never truly cared about him she only wanted to use him as a sex toy. Aeris is a selfish slut

You can't help who you fall in love with? I do think Aeris was more subtle when Tifa was around, especially when she learnt of the current situation and their past. I get the feeling that no matter what anyone says you'll always hate Aeris. Which is fine; each to their own. 'Selfish slut' though, pahahaha. Come on.
 
Sephiroth couldnt help being crazy it aint his fault he tried to destroy earth . :mokken: Sephy is innocent and misunderstood

Being impaled was too good for aeris. She should have been electrocuted, waterboarded, have her nailed ripped out with rusty pliers and then eaten alive by rabid wolves.:mokken:
