Wich Char you use for what?

First sorry for my english, long time ago i learned it in Shool.

Do you use Chars for example Aeris Healer and Magic Attacks, or Cloud just Melee Atacks. Some Chars must be better for Roles.
I always played this way:
Cloud - only Materia that pushes STR and only attacking with melee
Barret - same like Cloud, or could he be a good Magic Char?
Tifa - A mix of all , Heal Char , Magic Char, Melee Attack Char
Aeris - Main Heal Char and Magic Attacks
Red X - only Magic Attacks and when nobody other has heal spells he heals too
Cid - same like Cloud
Cait Sith - the magic Char only attacks with Magic
Yuffie - dont know what to do you with her?
Vincent - a Mix of Magic and Melee Attacks?

like to play again and a few meanings would be nice

Well... Aside from limit breaks the characters dont really have much difference between each other. Just check their initial stats and you can get an idea of who would be better for a certain role but it doesnt really matter you can use everything on everything (except aeris on melee)

I got Aries hitting pretty high, just moved her forward and trained her. At one point she was actually stronger than cloud!

 

[Ironman]

I tend not to use classes in this game, as in this game the characters were fairly evenly stated, I gave everyone the ability to heal, and use magic attacks along with physical attacks. and then of course everyone got the great materia combo of Final attack-Phoenix (i spent ALOT of time mastering materia) Cloud with his ultimate weapon did admitedly get the Mega-all linked with Deathblow when he got Ultima Weapon, full health + Deathblow all = everything dead (9999 damage all round mofo)

but i never use classes as i found it easier to have everyone capable of healing and attacking for the boss fights as your healer can die rapidly.

In my team Cloud and Tifa are everytime part of it.

Clouds task is to make damage. Cloud have the ability to heal HP but have the strongest abilities as well for example bahamut null, knights of rund, 4x-cut (materia with which you can attack the enemy 4 times in 1 command).

Tifas have a lot of healing abilities. She can heal HP, poison or bring characters back to life. Moreover she have the summon phoenix.

The third character is either Barret, Yuffie, Vincent, Red XIII or Cid. Well you see not Cait Sith.
This third character is the balance between "make damage" and "healing abilities". If I just want to travel through the world the third character has the task to level up the materia.
