It’s been long expected, but today LucasArts has finally announced that gamers will get to use their Wii Remotes as Lightsabers.

The game in question is the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which was also announced today (previous versions of the game have been known about for some time, through official and unofficial channels). Krome Studios is handling the Wii, PS2, and PSP versions of the game while LucasArts is developing the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version internally. n-Space is also handling a Nintendo DS version of the game.

Correction: The original story said the "sword-swinging" segments were only available during a "duel mode," however this is incorrect, as lightsaber action will be playable throughout the game.

How cool is that? :giggle:

How cool? HOW COOL?!

Jesus Christ, when I first read about the Wii-remote, I imagined what it'd be like using it as a lightsaber. :wacky: This is possibly the most awesome news like... evar for the Wii. Good find. :monster:

Feck, this is insanely orgasmic.

YES!! At first Lucas Arts was like noooo wii lightsaber for you and know it's like haha we joke... lol

I can't wait to see what this will be like. If it's going to be cheesy and dorky, forget it. If, however, the play is realistic and precise, man, I can't even imagine how much fun it's going to be. :D

Haha so true. ^

I can see people dressing up as their favorite characters playing this game in their living rooms.

It does sound very cool though, it makes me even more glad that I am getting a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. :O
