I know this probably belongs in Computing and Technology but seeing as it's about music players I though it could go here too. Plus it'll get more attention here. Move if you want though.

What programs (Like Windows Media Player, Winamp, Real Player etc) do you use to play music on your computers? How do you organize the music on them? and which programmes do you prefer over others and why?

I've usually used Windows Media Player for most of the time uptill now. Now I've begun using Winamp because I finding it's a lot easier to use and it can easily play FLAC. I like my music organized so I can find it easily so recently I've started sorting them into all sorts of groups. Aside from searching for Artist and Album, I now also filter through different genre's and Sub-genre's so if I'm in a mood for a type or tempo of music in paticular I just search it without having to go through it all manually. I'm not entirly sure if Winamp is really better than WMP overall yet but I seem to be getting along with it.

I use WMP. It's easy to use, easy to organize my music with, and it syncs beautifully with my MP3-player. I've never bothered trying out anything else though, since Media Player works to my satisfaction.

Well I used to always use WMP because it was always the default and it seemed to be just fine. But then I got into WinAmp because I liked all the skins, it was a little difficult for me at first to figure out how the playlists and stuff worked but once I got that down, I loved it

I used to use Musicmatch Jukebox a lot when I was younger.

I found it was better for organising my music.

I hate using Windows Media Player for organising music.

Though these days I will listen to music in Windows Media Player because I can't be bothered opening up Musicmatch Jukebox. XD

I still burn my CD's through Jukebox though.

I use Spotify for most things as it allows me to stream almost every song I previously had on my computer, and because it's online streaming I don't need the actual file saving HDD space :awesome:

For individual songs that have to download to listen to I'll just use Winamp :-)

I tend to stick to iTunes, it's easier when it comes to the iPod.
Don't play much music on my PC, tend to stick to my record collection

I've come to the decision that WinAmp is indeed better and that is now what I'm using indefinitely for music (it sucks for videos though so that job stays with WMP). It organizes well and the sound is the best of all players I've tried. Did have a go at MediaMonkey but by god that thing was fucking horrible to use. Potential is there but just too many problems and lack of features without upgrading to the premium package, which sucks as you can get it all for free elsewhere. Though it does allow for bulk file converting which is good for me so I'll still keep it for that but not for much else.

I use iTunes. I cannot stand Windows Media Player... it seems to lag my computer out and it's not very 'pretty'. iTunes is fairly simple to use and allows mass-editing, which I use quite frequently. Not only that, but I have an iPod as well as my husband. It's simply more convenient.

I used to use Winamp when I was younger and I then switched to Windows Media player. But I couldn't stand Media Player, it lagged and just seemed messy to me. At the moment I use iTunes, I don't have an ipod, but I like the layout of it. It's cleaner, easier on the eyes and it just seems more organised.

It was always Windows Media Player for me until I got my iPod, has been iTunes for me ever since.

It's just too much shite to switch back and forth. I still use Media Player when it's WMA files though. It automatically plays. But besides that...

Yeah, it's iTunes for me. Though definitely NOT 'cause it's 'better'.
