My friend is giving his account on WoW 2 away to a few friends, which includes me (yay!!). I've always wanted to play WoW, but just never got around to buying the discs and installing them. So, basically, I'm totally new with this game. I *do* want to learn a bit about it before I play it, and start a new character. My friend is also giving his account to two other people, both people who have played it a lot before, one of which is the battle leader. They are both going to help me get a character started, but I was hoping to get a little info on this game. Sorry if this question sounds really dumb or vague- but I'm just kind of looking for advice on how to start a character, and just play in general. I know it's one of those things where you kind of just have to get the hang of it- but I was wondering if anyone had any advice about the game in general, or starting a character- anything like that?

Thanks! :)

I've played a decent amount of WoW, but I'm far from being an expert on the game. I'd recommend going with a mage for your first character. They're pretty straightforward and easy to use. As for your race, I have no recommendations. I've experimented with each of 'em, and one doesn't stand out as being vastly superior to the others. I like gnomes, so I usually go with them. The engineering bonus isn't bad.

Other tips? I don't really have any. As someone who went into WoW with zero knowledge of the game, I can say that you'll probably learn how to go about things pretty quickly. I did, anyway.

my advice would be a human warlock. that's the most basic in my opinion, and you won't be bugged by other players to heal or tank.

I would recommend a Mage for first timers.
I have a level 70 Human Paladin (I know Pallys aren't the best :P)
...and it took me 1 year and a half to get to 70... I'm a n00b!
It's still with me, I still play WoW, just not as often as before

Well, this reply is kinda late, but oh well. My biggest suggestion is to play with a friend or two (or five). It really makes the game that much more fun, especially if you're just starting it. It'll also make the game a good deal easier, especially when getting mobbed by enemies while trying to open a chest or something. As for what class to use, I just recommend to stay away from a Priest or Warlock. Both of those are semi-specialized classes, and I imagine would be veeery difficult to use if you're playing on you're own.

Actually, on second thought, I recommend being a Hunter. You have your bow, for attacking enemies far away and as they run up to you, and then your dagger/sword to attack them up close. And later on you get a pet, which has always been helpful to me. :>

Well, I'd recommend you use either a Hunter or a Rogue. Hunters are really easy to use and you can tame pets and, depending on the build, you can use them as tanks while you shoot the enemy down or leave all the work to them. That'd mean you woudln't have to spend your money on healing items nor anything similar. The downtime would be greatly reduced too.

Rogues on the other hand are a bit harder to use but they're great for your money needs since they can pickpocket the enemies (as long as they're demi-human or however the human class was called on Wow xD). Besides, Rogues are great damage dealers and are able to use paralizing attacks and poisons to obliterate your enemies.

Hunters cost alot since you need to buy all your ammo for your ranged weapons plus ammo pouches to carry them in takes up room in your inventory. Ive never leveled a hunter past lvl 10 before but from what I hear from others and friends that play hunters is there complants on the cost of ammo and repairs after a long dungeon run. but there a fairly easy class to play from wat I observed, just auto shoot.. and learn to use those frost traps well cause youll need too be good at luring mobs into them for cc during group raids/dungeons.

I leveled a feral druid and mage to 70 and the most fun was definitly the druid. Being able to change between a dps and tanking class its easy as cake to get in groups. There fun to play and they own in pvp if you know what form kills what the fastest XD

go DRUID!
