So, I wanted to do this sidequest before going to Bone Village for some reason.

Anyways, got to Wutai via Tiny Bronco, materia stolen.

Got into a battle and noticed Barret had the "Magic" command, checked it, turns out he had Fire materia. Checked at the end of the battle and it was there, still equipped to his armour.

This ever happened to anyone else?

Next, got to Rapps, was expecting a big battle. He hit Cloud, limit break. Meteorain, battle over. Was actually quite shocked at that. Then again though, my Cloud was level 45.

Anyone beaten him like that?

No thats Pretty Impressive I think i was Level 30 When i first fought Him I beat Him but it took me sometime I was young back then i never use to Level up just Wizz through the game and get stuck on boss battles

Cool  Wish that happened to me :P i got one shotted by his aero3 before i found a way to beat him.

Im always fairly low levelled when I get there so I always have a hard time, Ive never managed to keep any materia from that thieving little git though, how I curse her name everytime I do that sidequest -_-

Ive never one shotted him, Ive always been sat there, panicking and abusing my potions xD

Yuffie only take about 30 (or was it 40?) Materia, and what's taken is also prioritized by groups (Red, Purple, Yellow and then Green last), so it's possible to still be left with some (I usually end up with a couple of Fire's).

I always do the side-quest as early as possible (straight after getting the Tiny Bronco but detouring to Bone Village first to pick up new armour) to get it out of the way. My team of Cloud, Barret and Vincent usually gets the job done with ease.

Wow, I've never had any Materia left over before, that's really interesting...
It took me so long to finish that side-quest on my first play through -.- Seriously, I spent around 3 hours just trying to find Yuffie hidden around the village! (Then, I actually think I was stupid enough not to save before fighting Rapps, and promptly got myself killed.)

i've never had any materia when i get to wutai its always been cometeply stolen.as for one shotting him i've never been a high enough lvl to do that
i usually take barret and vincent get their limit breaks ready making sure that vincent has his lvl 2 limit break and i set barret to lvl 1 (if hes anything higher than that) and have him use his mind blow to get rid of the threat of rapps using areo 3 and then i just make sure i have a crap load of potions, swift bolts, and fire veils and that usually gets me through the fight.

The Wutai thing was very annoying and got on my nerves. And its kinda the reason I dont like Yuffie as a character. I thought Rapps was very easy, and this time is the only time I actually did some leveling up too. Mine pretty much ended like yours with a Meteorain. I spent so much time in the area where you get the water ring before you fight Jenova in the Forgotten Capital. Coral Valley I think its called. Lol you get anywhere from 1200-1500 exp a fight, and 220 or 250 AP. Alot of my materia was mastered, I think I got within the level 55-60 range before fighting Rapps and eventually beating Jenova to get off of Disc 1 . Kind of a little extreme, but I find leveling fun.

I hated the Wutai sidequest because when I got my materia back, she put it back in completely the wrong order, and it took me ages to fix it.

I've never found Rapps that hard, really. I did the sidequest when I had Aerith's level 3 limit breaks, made healing a breeze, and Cloud and Barret were strong enough to take him down themselves.

Rapps was always pretty easy for me, then again I'm usually in my 40's or 50's by the time I get around to doing that sidequest, I tend to grind alot and save all my sidequests for later.

Protip: if you do the sidequest on disc 3, she won't take much materia at all.

Why is this is the only reason I ever see people list as to why they hate Yuffie? Oh boo hoo, she jacked your materia. You hate her just because of that? Maybe if you'd been sufficiently leveled, or if you waited till disc 3, it wouldn't have mattered that she took your stuff. Of all the reasons to hate a character...

You're complaining....because you had to rearrange your materia....

Um 1st off learn how to read there big guy. I clearly said my characters were anywhere between 55-60 STILL ON THE 1ST DISC in levels by the time this rolled around. So that means my charcters arent exactly weak and desperate as you make it sound like. It's called leveling, and I do alot of it. It wasnt the fact I needed it to fight Rapps, she makes it a damn goose chase before she eventually gives it back. It's annoying. So read my post FULLY next time, and dont criticise it after a half-ass read ok?

It was a general rant, note how I said loss of materia is the only thing anyone ever complains about when they say they hate Yuffie. People never say anything about her character design, never anything about how she functions in battle, it's always I HATE YUFFIE BECAUSE SHE STOLE MY MATERIA.

The goose chase itself isn't all that difficult either, and disliking her for that is no better than disliking her for stealing materia...I've done much more annoying/tediouos things in games before. If it's that annoying, just use a walkthrough.

Alright it's cool man, no beef and I understand where you are coming from. It's just the goose chase drives me up the wall. It's not that I need a walkthrough for it, it's just one of those things when it comes time to do it I just sit there and say F***. Combat wise I love her, story wise I hate her.
Just stating my opinion and supported it when I read your post, no disrespect intended.

I actually enjoyed this side quest. Let me explain,

When Yuffie joins your team she gets no story at all. You don't even need her as a character in your party to complete the game. She just is like owellhellotharlemmejoinurpartay! End.

So this side quest you actually get involved with her character a bit. I'm really grateful for it or else she'd be just a mindless zombie character that joins your party and then has no relevance later on (which is common in rpgs).

EX. With Red you get into his whole story. Then he joins your group and no one cares about him anymore and he's just a member of the group.

It's alright, it drives me up the wall when people dislike Yuffie just because she steals your materia and runs away, especially considering that she's an optional character and it could all be avoided...different things rub people the wrong way I suppose. It drives me insane having to do that chocobo race to get out of Golden Saucer...it's easy but it's just so pointless...and I hate the music. So yeah, it's cool, sorry if I came off too harsh x_X

I actually thought Yuffie's story was relatively interesting (what little of it there was), all she's trying to do is help her town in the only way she knows how...so I really can't hate on her too much for just trying to restore her village's honor or w/e.

That disappointed me...I really liked Red, he seemed cool...but after a little bit they just dropped him. He might as well have been an optional character, they barely did anything with him. Real shame, he had alot of potential for a great backstory and whatnot.

Yeah that really disappointed me, because Red XIII or Nanaki was one of my favorite characters in this game. I would have loved to have learned more about him, his tribe, his past, etc. Hey since Square-Enix loves to make spinoffs of FFVII now is a chance to get one that I would definetly buy. Make a Nanaki story and game, I would love to learn more.

I'm not so sure I'd enjoy a remake. It's not the same staff that created FF7 that would be working on this new game you suggested. It would be a buncha BS IMO and just serve as fan service. :dave: Now if the original team were still intact... I'd think it would be a good idea. Or if It was originally part of FF7's storyline but the game was so large they had to cut it out or something. You know, so it's not an afterthought.

Yeah, thats very true. I dont think SQ-Enix did bad with FFCC. I mean I still prefer the battle system FFVII had and not the mission objective shit. But other than that I thought they did a great job story wise. Agreed though, it'd be better with the former staff than this one.

On the subject with Red/Nanaki, it's one of main things I like about FF7. Depending on who you have in your party, you learn abit more about their personality. If you kept him with for the entire game, and never used Cid, you'd know alot more about Nanaki. Even though it was pretty much a case of "We've found out the truth about my dad, now lets leave Cosmo Canyon" his story over, you can still learn more about him personality wise.
