Now Please tell me what's your favorite instrument and why? Which performer might have given you the love you have for it? Give some serious responses...

Drums for me.. I have been transitioned use to love electric.. but here's why.. One... the beat and the rhythm...

Danny Carey (from Tool)

Travis Barker's New Remix

I'll give more reasons why.. as soon as I hear some responses.

The violin. I can't really say what first got me into liking it. I guess it's just the way that it sounded to me. Many types of emotions can be conveyed through the violin. Plus, with the right person playing it, it can sound epic, sad, funny, awesome, ect.

My favorite violin player though would be... The Screamer. An online violinist who plays themes from animes and video games. Below is The Screamer and the "Devildom String Orchestra" playing multiple themes from Crono Trigger.

Neat thread!

Uhm... I'm not sure what my favourite is...

I've ALWAYS loved the bass sounds in The Cure songs. :ryan: That's the first instrument I really picked up myself when I started. :hmmm:

Now I'm more of a guitar girl... xD

I also love jamming out on a drum set though. :D I'm not sure...

:gasp:

I'll have to go with the bass guitar I think...

Flute,
I have always played it, since i was a young boy.
Its a beautiful instrument and fits with almost all types of music.

It's rather easy to play as well, not at all complex.

Although Drums are amazing in my mind.. I'll throw more vids as to why, but Warren Haynes has really done a number for me in order to like Electric Guitar.

See Cortez.. his guitar makes me sway man.. it's freakin surreal hearing the beautiful instrument.

Guitar, Clarinet, and Saxophone.

Why? They're all instruments I've had experience with, and I like the sounds they make as opposed to others. I've been thinking of maybe picking up a Clarinet or a Saxophone again as I haven't in years, but I think I'd rather just stick to my guitar right now since I've invested a lot of money for special effects equipment into it.

Just actually got my Zvex Vexter Fuzz pedal for my guitar a few days ago, and its awesum :elmo:

Also, I like the Guitar a lot because Bellamy makes it look like a lot of fun, and it is :wacky:

I have a three-way tie between the drums, piano, and bass. I love the drums because of Travis Barker from Blink-182. He's amazing, and his performances really shaped that. The bass comes from the sounds I hear from Chevelle and Muse. Both amazing, both inspiring. The piano actually comes from Yiruma and Nobuo Uematsu.

For me, it'd have to be between guitar and piano. I'm astounded how many sounds you can make with a guitar and at the same time, I love how many original lullabies you can create with a piano. I haven't played either for a long while, but I'm going to see if I can get back into them really soon.

This man has a great deal to do with my love for guitars. I remember listening in the early 1990's to Rage Against The Machine and man this dude could play. Unfortunately he sold out to Activision and was made into a Guitar Hero character. Oh well though, Guitar Hero 2 was positively the best Guitar Hero.

Guitar, because I play it. To be honest, either acoustic or electric works, depending on the song. I'll often try to play acoustic covers of songs like Enter Sandman just to see what it would sound like.

Second is alto saxophone. Because... I play it. I also have a thing for jazz, which explains my love for metal because, in case you didn't know, metal actually stems from blues/jazz.

If I had to have a third, I guess drums. A good, solid drum beat could make or break a song. Do you honestly think We Will Rock You would be nearly as popular if it had a different drum beat?

Although I don't play it, the violin would definitely be my favorite instrument. As Tsukianei said, many emotions can come from just this one instrument. On a side note, I played the trumpet, and then onto the trombone but absolutely sucked beyond belief. Music is not my forte.

The band Horse Feathers, one of my favorite bands, includes the violin a lot in their music. It has more of an indie feel to it, but I also love the orchestral sound of the violin.

Some really great violin work is done in Sur le fil, by Yann Tiersen. I bought the soundtrack to Amelie and fell in love with his music afterwards.

Another instrument I like is the piano. There is a piano version of Sur le fil and it's amazing as well. Comptine d'un autre ete: L'apres midi is a beautiful song that I always used to fall asleep to.

Kiss the Rain by Yiruma is a beautiful song as well, I can't tell you how many times I've set it on repeat. I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano, but can never be bothered.

I've played guitar since a young age and have 15+ years under my belt so it's without a doubt my favorite.

One other that's kind of out there that I'd love to learn is the hammered dulcimer. Very common in Celtic music and there's much more articulation you can get hammering the strings directly vs through a fixed, mechanical process like keys on a piano.

That being said - I'm also a fan of the piano. You can transform a song by composing it for piano.
