We're 1 week until the release of the next Final Fantasy! The games Demo is out now and you can enjoy the prologue to the game already! I'm glad to see that game is getting spellbinding reception and that the series feels like a Triple-A Powerhouse again!

So, with only 1 week to go. I thought it would be fun to record our FF Rankings prior to the release of XVI. No doubt it will shake things up again - me personally I am hoping it can be a title I can place in my top half of FF games at the very least. Include any Spin-Offs Etc. in the list you wish:

01 - Final Fantasy VIII
02 - Final Fantasy VII
03 - Final Fantasy IX
04 - Final Fantasy X
05 - Final Fantasy VI
06 - World of Final Fantasy
07 - Final Fantasy VII Remake
08 - Final Fantasy XIII-2
09 - Final Fantasy XIII
10 - Final Fantasy IV
11 - Final Fantasy Dissidia (PSP Titles)
12 - Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
13 - Final Fantasy XIII-3 Lightning Returns
14 - Final Fantasy V
15 - Final Fantasy Dissidia NT
16 - Final Fantasy
17 - Final Fantasy XII
18 - Final Fantasy XV
19 - Final Fantasy II
20 - Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus
21 - Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

Think I am content with my list, they can change here and there so it is hardly set in stone. But feel free to add your list so we can compare (Not argue ... much) and note before the release of the next main entry to Final Fantasy!

I just noticed how XIV & XV align with their respective digits (Unintentional lol). They are solid, but not great. Middle of the pack FF imo.

I feel sorry for I, rarely gets any love, but it started it all....so I gave it a spot.

The Advance games are more updated versions of the SNES imo, so I gave them spots over their older counterparts.

Record Keeper & Brave EX are great nostalgia titles; gave them a spot.

VII has the most beloved & diverse cast. Diversity works, because everyone feels different. VII proved this.

I am a sucker for monsters, or playing as monsters. XIII-2 had a monster system, Tactics Advanced & XI had Morphers....which brings me to......

....XI, my #1 Final Fantasy game of all-time.

XI had several story arcs, due to expansions, & all of them were solid for the most part. The plot twist from the base game to Rise of Zilart was masterfully done. XI also had the best job system imo; as-well the best job designs. As I mentioned, XI & Tactics Advanced seem to be the only FF games with The Morpher. It is called The Monstrosity System in XI.

Those are my top 20 FF games of all-time.

I haven't played every Final Fantasy, but of the titles I've done, here's how I would rate my preferences:

1. Final Fantasy XIV
2. Final Fantasy Type-0
3. Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core
4. Final Fantasy VII Remake
5. Final Fantasy VIII
6. Final Fantasy Dissidia/012 (NT never existed, I refuse)
7. Final Fantasy XV
8. Final Fantasy X
9. Final Fantasy XIII
10. Final Fantasy Origin: Stranger of Paradise
11. Final Fantasy IV, VI & IX (I haven't played these in a long time so they sort of merge together for me)
--- I also refuse to acknowledge V ever happened, into the void that one goes *flick*

I'm not very objective when looking at Final Fantasy titles that I've enjoyed. If I'm honest, it's more to do with the people I've played those games with rather than solely on their merits or mechanics. Many rate so high for nostalgic purposes and that alone, which is generally why I don't often focus on their analysis or fan criticisms. Simultaneously the franchise is both meaningful to me, but the why behind it isn't that deep or complex.
