Don't ask what my motivation for this thread was :lew:

Anyways, yes. I looked through all 21 pages of gobblety gook here in the music forum and I could not find a thread for what you would want your wedding song to be if you ever got married.

So my wedding song would be:

Etta James-At Last

I absolutely love this song...and I love Etta's classic voice. Its so simple yet so beautiful. So if I ever get married someday this will be my wedding song :jess:

INXS - Never Tear Us Apart

Steve and I really want this song for our wedding song.

I love the lyrics and the whole feel of the song. <3

It just feels a lot deeper than most other songs I've listened to whilst trying to find a good wedding song.

\m/ Metal wedding. XD

In all seriousness, though. I'd be happy with Mendelssohn's wedding march, but I think my other half has a huge love for Bette Midler's 'The Rose.'

No, I'm not trolling. Really, I'm not. If by some cosmic disaster I ever get married, I'm having a Team Rocket themed wedding. My other half and I will both be crossdressing, will have an adapted version of the Team Rocket motto for our wedding vows, and we'll be leaving the proceedings in a hot air balloon. Everyone attending will be required to wear Team Rocket grunt uniforms. Seriously, that has always been my dream wedding, and I've got it all planned out in my mind. It'd also be the ultimate test of tolerance for my other half. We could have another "serious" wedding afterwards if they weren't satisfied, but I'm not budging on this. We need to have a memorable ceremony, and one wedding is pretty much the same as the next unless you spice it up a little. xD

If I had to have an actual song, I'd prefer something like Within Temptation's All I Need, or DHT's Listen to your Heart...but then, I'm not really a romantic type. I'd rather have something dramatic, if I can't live out my dream. Something like this:
Seriously, I would LOVE to get married to that. A candlelit church, a choir in the background by a guy with the organ, the bells ringing at intervals...got it all planned out.

Inside Of You - (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) - Russell Brand

So Steve and I just watched this movie and we were thinking this would be funny to have at our wedding and possibly have a guy like Russell Brand, (preferably Russell Brand though) sing the song with all the dance moves and such like in this video. XD

But even though it would be somewhat scarring for our parents to watch it still has a lovely message. <3

Something by the National. Most of my wedding would have songs by them, perhaps not the best way to start a marriage, but I doubt anyone would stay married to me long. It would have to be one of their songs which aren't about heartbreak.
It would probably have to be Gospel by the National.

I'd also have Tinseltown in the Rain by The Blue Nile. I can't imagine a wedding without a song about Glasgow in it.

To continue the Scottish theme I'd have some Arab Strap.

I really don't know a lot of songs that would be appropriate for a wedding, but these following songs seem to have the right feel and more importantly, the right lyrics for a wedding song.

I could think of probably six more songs, but I believe these five will do for now. Oh and this is a cool thread. ^_^

My wedding, I'd definitely have to have a song by one of my favorite people.

Probably, Rooms on Fire for Stevie.

It's very romantic, though a bit 80's for a wedding, but it'd definitely work it's way into the reception.

I'd totally use a Vanessa Carlton during the wedding though. Probably Home.

It has that nice piano, is soft, and has the perfect lyrics for a wedding march sorta song.

For Tori, I'd probably go with something off American Doll Posse. Bouncing off Clouds would fit well, me thinks.

Probably a few more that I could think of, but I think these three are probably the best for me, plus my other would want a say no doubt. Especially if it's the same as my other now. We'd be getting married to Erotica or something. :hmph:

ive no idea, i know what i dont want though, the generic and the cheesy. Anyone dares suggest celine dion :-)hmph:) or aerosmith (as much i like the song) Oh or sting, we all know the usual suspects, i cant help but roll my eyes

id rather it just be a song we both mutually love for whatever reason even if its Map Of the Problamatique :monocle:

Considering I don't even have a partner, I don't think that I could select a wedding song today.

Whatever it is, it would have to be a joint song that means something to us... Perhaps a song that we both expressed a liking for, or a song that we heard and liked a lot when we first met / some key moment in our lives.

I could think of a song (ok, I can't since I have just tried and failed), but it would ultimately only be a random song that I like a lot. It might not have any meaning to my wife. Therefore, as it stands, I don't know what the song would be. It could be reggae for all I know.

Funnily enough my girlfriend and I were talking about this the other day. I personally did not initiate this conversation as I have no intention of getting married any time soon. :wacky: Results:

I think if we had a more in depth conversation about it we would have had a hell of a lot more songs to choose from :edd:

I've never been a fan of the traditional wedding march, and I've always wanted to walk to Canon in D instead. I found this about a month ago, and just realized that THIS is what I want. It blends perfectly into With Or Without You by U2 (and yes, kind of an odd song choice for a wedding, but with it just being instrumental, it's beautiful) :8F:

EDIT:
This would me my first dance song. Simple, beautiful, short. I absolutely love it.

My fiance and I's wedding song will be 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri, which sums up well how we feel about each other. :x3: Very excited.
