Garland
"Forget all that. You are destined to live among the stars for all eternity."
"You have the power, the position, and the motive to do it."

This line occurs in Terra before Kuja kills Garland. He utters these lines to Zidane. He designed Kuja to die out after a time due to his reckless and ambitious nature. As long as Zidane was willing to follow orders, Garland allowed him the ability to live eternally. Kuja killed Garland minutes after he told Zidane that he was immortal. So does that mean that Zidane will never die?

We know such power can and has been granted, due to Garland's existence since the dawn of Gaia. Also, considering the level of power Garland required in order to assimilate worlds, it's not impossible for him to grant immortality to another, should he will it.

So yes, Zidane can technically live for all time.

Unless he becomes like garland who can talk to you even after dying

Garland never died until Zidane reached the Crystal World. He projected his words telepathically to Zidane with his last ounce of strength.

So where was he whilst he was telepathically talking to zidane?
So basically zidane will not die unless he is physically killed?

It's evident he has the ability to teleport, however it's probable this ability, even for Garland, is limited. He's most likely in a section of Terra which wasn't obliterated by Kuja.

That is what immortality means, yes.

hmmmm maybe Garland might have something to do with this necron.

There's absolutely no relation between Necron and... well, anything. As far as the player is concerned, he was just thrown in as an extra boss. Considering Garland wished to retain life on Terra, having connections with Necron, of whom wishes to restore everything to the "zero world," (by destroying life) would result in major hypocrisy.

I can't see how you possible made that assumption. It's absurd.

Yet there is a detailed analysis of Necron's possible relationship with the Iifa tree.

There's numerous statements in that document pertaining to Necron's purpose being to send everything back to the zero world. Yes, that is death. However, Necron's purpose, as itself states, is to "return EVERYTHING back to the zero world." I highly doubt he's limiting himself to Gaia, and even if that were so, the souls are not intended on being sent elsewhere; they are to be imprisoned until the assimilation initiated by Garland is complete. Removing them entirely from existence would completely defy the point of Garland's will, and even Garland himself.

That document is bullshit, really.

Considering the fact that it must have taken quite a while to compile that section, I don't think Squall_of_SeeD would have overlooked something so obvious that you could debunk his theory within half an hour, so I've brought your comment to his attention to see whether or not he does have an answer to it.

But it is also believed that garland manifested necron. Nercron also agrees with kuja's actions of destroying the crystal.
Unless garland put necron inside kuja which may explain why necron knows so much about kuja's actions and that he was a victim of his own fear.

Also after necron was 'defeated' kuja didn't seem to be so 'evil'

He only appeared after the party beat kuja so he continued kuja's wish

By theory only. Nothing is stricly canonical (which is kind of hypocritical of me to say so).

... wtf?

That's interesting, but he states he has lived an eternity, and shall continue to do so regardless of his defeat (whether that was just another AC Sephiroth-esqué exit is unknown). It strikes me as unlikely that Necron is a part of Kuja, in an sense of the term.

I saw nothing other than speculation which could possibly oppose my own views.

Also:

lol Just think they could make a Final Fantasy IX-2 with Zidane as the lead character again. A wiser older Zidane that had so much history with the world. He'd talk about all the things that happened in the years after everyone passed away and how the world changed and empires grew, fell, and merged into one another.

Mikoto could also be part of it, seeing as she never died, right?

My brother and I where discussing this that they could easily make FFIX-2 set hundreds of years in the future but we thought it would be great if Zidane turned out to be the antagonist although I don't think many would like to see that happen.

Despite the fact that leaves room for a good sequel, I still wouldn't want one.

but what about garnet!?

besides dosent mikoto say that she will surpass zidane when he dies like kuja?

... no. Although technically she will become what Zidane was; the Angel of Death. Unlike the other Genomes, she too was given a soul. So she could POTENTIALLY surpass Zidane, but we don't know whether she's capable of such a feat, trusting she can even fight.

I'd be disappointed with the concept of a remake, because I can't see much potential. Unless of course Zidane becomes Kuja-esqué, and Necron makes a more universal return. Even so... bleh.

maybe a remake where the party have to find a way to fight necron where life and death cannot exist?
