I recently finished FF XIII and it was realy good game.
Now I want to go deeper in FF series and I want to know if FF are games related to each other?

The main line of the series can all be played independently of each other. There are sequels/spin-offs (13-2, 10-2, FFIV: After Years, Dirge of Cerberus, etc.) but I would suggest not bothering with those until you've played the main line anyway. So stick to the main line and you should be fine.

So I start with first one and then go on?
And what is best platform for early ones(2D ones) PS3,Android,PSX emu,NES,...?

I dont recommend starting with the first in the series as it is quite an unforgiving game and it has little to no story. I think you should start by the ones people consider the best. Final fantast 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 are all pretty good choices. Perhaps start with 10 and then go backwards, that seems a good way! I just hope you dont value graphics in games as some of them are not very good to look at nowadays(but at the time they were the best graphics that existed btw). XIII may be all shiny and beautiful but story/gameplay wise is far from being the best final fantasy even though it is arguably still a good game.
Now for the Platforms:
FF IV - psp version
FF VI - psn version
FF VII - PSN/PS1
FF VIII - PSN/PS1
FF IX - PSN/PS1
FF X - PS2
FF 5 - PSN version
FF XII - PS2(although an awsome game I recommend this after playing all the games above first..
For the other games: (these are very hard and grindy so leave them to last if you are curious about the series origins).
FF 1/2 - PSP
FF 3 - DS

I would suggest playing either 4, 6, 7, 9, or 10 next. You can start with FF1 and work your way up if you really want, but you don't have to. Each game is independent of each other except the sequels or spinoffs.

Wow kid, if you thought that FFXIII (one of the worst in the series) was a good game, then you are in for a treat.

Don't play the spin-offs (Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core) until much later, I would suggest you start with what the PS1 Final Fantasy lineup has to offer, any order is OK, since the games are not correlated or have storylines that overlap.

Personal preference , start with either FFIV, FFIX or FFVII.

My favorite is FFVIII. It's one of the easier ones though, but it could be a pretty good starting point.

If you like romance then FFX, FFIX, FF VIII , FF IV and FF VII are highly recommend.

If you like a fairy tale, Disney like game with creative character design then FFIX, FFV, FF IV/ FF IV DS

If you want a challenge and something a bit harder then FFI, FFII, FFIII and FF IV DS

If you want to start out with something a bit easier and gets harder as it goes along then FFX is prefect.

If you want something that's close to a online game like feel then FF XII is good, also if you DON'T want a romance then also FF XII.

If you don't want the usual JRPG battle system with fights every two steps then FF XII again.

If you want a action like game with a rich storyline then FFX, FF VII, FF VI

If you want something a little old school and don't mind older graphics then FF1- FF6 are great.

My personal recommends are FF IV, FF V, FF VI, FF VIII, FF IX and FF X. Also there's a FF XIII-2 out as well.
:)

Damn i stop playing FF since FFXII base on the reviews i have read....FFXIII isn't quite as good like its predecessors.

What holds together final fantasy series?
Are all games take place in same world?

To tell you the truth...almost nothing... some have similarities... like Chocobo's Moogles, Summons etc. but overall, they almost have nothing in common.

If you liked XIII, I think you would like VII, XIII-2, VIII.

Thats whats great about final fantasy. It never gets old (atleast for me). Out of the 9(didnt play 3, the mmorpgs and XIII) games I have played, none of them disappointed and the great thing about them are that they are all completely different worlds, they create new worlds for every final fantasy, new characters, new philosofies, new eras, new styles, everything is new there is little similarity (well actually there are some similarities if you consider that the first 6 and ff9/12 happen in a medieval time and 6/7/8/13 in a futuristic steampunk kind of environment. There is also 10 which is completely different but just saying anything about its world would be spoiling the story itself a bit so go find out for yourself :D

FFXIII is hardly an evolution of the series apart of the aesthetical part so the other games will blow your mind even FF2.

Here's a really simplified and detailed explanation:

You can play the Final Fantasy series in any order. They're all separate worlds, characters and stories.

Any game that SHARES a number with another, for example: Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, are CONNECTED because they both share 'VII' in their title. Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 are connected, because they both share 'XIII' in their title.

Any game that just chills there with a number in its name; "Final Fantasy ____" can be played whenever, and is disconnected with the rest of the series, by characters, worlds and all. Totally different. If the game features a subtitle rather than a number, it gets a little more complex, such as titles like 'Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles'. You don't need to play those anytime soon as they aren't the best.

So among the best Final Fantasy games in the series are:
Final Fantasy VI (1994, released on the SNES, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Store.)
Final Fantasy VII (1997, released on the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Store.)
Final Fantasy VIII (1999, released on the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Store.)
Final Fantasy IX (2000, released on the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation Store.)
Final Fantasy X (2001, released on the PlayStation 2.)

You can pick ANY of those you want, and play those in any order. Those are just some examples. I'm sure many members agree that those are the best Final Fantasy games. I also told you what consoles you can find them on, if that helps you out. Each of those games are in separate worlds with different characters and different gameplay. INDULGE yourself in the epicness.

Actually, FFVII is related to X and X-2. This has been proven with Shinra's dialogue in X-2 touting the ability to harness energy emanating from the Farplane. One of Squenix's staff members addressed this.

The only thing holding the series together, is the title "Final Fantasy"

Granted, certain references are made throughout some games, different characters with the same names appear throughout the series (Cid, Biggs, Wedge) but there is very little correlation story-wise and no overlapping.

Some do take place in the same world such as Ivalice (FFXII and Tactics), not sure which others share the same world.

The entire Nova Crystallis story branch will share the same world, including Versus XIII, which is supposed to be a separate story altogether.
