Lighting Returns
I think this is probably the better one gameplay-wise out of the XIII saga. I was turned off by it at first but then gave it another shot and while it is nothing memorable, I did end up having my dollars worth of fun with it.
People tend to get defensive about these things because of how emotionally invested they are in them. It is really not much different with how people get defensive about sport teams, celebrities, political parties and the like. I think there is a fine line between being a fan and a fanboy, the...

Did you enjoy it?
Quite a bit, I had played several RPGs before in the NES and SNES but never Final Fantasy and it was quite a refreshing/new experience for me.

FVIII has probably the worst intro to any FF. I am referring to the opening cinematic which instead of leading you into the setting and the story like in IV, VI, VII and XII for example, it plays more like a trailer for the overall game. By looking at it you'd think that the whole world hangs in...
Finished X/X-2, really nice revisiting the games in the remastered versions, the remastered battle theme in X is really good. Gave Lighting Returns another shot and actually had fun playing it this time around (Hope does tests your patience however) and finished it getting the extra day and all...
Having played through VIII recently I actually found her rather easy, specially her last form. The entire fight besides her first form basically boiled down to Squall with Aura doing his limit break over and over while the two other characters played a supporting role. It was a rather smooth and...
Quite frankly, I really can't point to anything in XIII that I actually liked. I practically forced myself to finish it. XIII-2 was an improvement as was Lighting Returns, not that it says much tho.
Well, X-2 shared quite a lot of things with X as far as characters, locations and monsters...
You've probably seen a similar topic to this in other forums but about music or movies, where people state controversial/unpopular opinions about the subject and others engage in discussion about it if they want or post their own opinions. Not just any opinion of course, but one you actually...
Been on a FF spree as of late, finished XIII-2, replayed VII and VIII and plan to replay X and X-2 soon since I got the remastered version recently. Gave Lighting Returns a chance but it really wasn't doing it for me. May pick it up again when and if I feel up for it.
I absolutely loved the game, it is among my top three favorite FF games (with VII and VI). As far as the previous discussion about the main villain goes, am I alone on considering Yunalesca the main villian? Of course she is not your typical clear cut villain but I think storywise she is a...
Recently picked up Lightning Returns and nearly 6 hours in I am starting to think this will end up taking XIII's place for me as the worst FF game. Whomever thought it was a good idea to put a timer on an RGP which if it ends forces you to restart the game and not only that but to also combine...
FF VII, hands down. It has the deepest and most involving story which includes a great mix of everything (action, drama, comedy, mystery, horror, etc) and the best rounded cast as well. The story is also one that permeates the entirely of the game grounding every element and character in it and...
New video (I think):
Also some additional info about the game here:

Definitely Yunalesca. Up to that point in the game you were just blasting your way through enemies without having to stop and think of a strategy. Yunalesca forces you to stop and think and learn to work around her attacks.
It is a truly moving scene, hits you like a truck. The way the music enters in sync with the bouncing materia and how the music continues to the boss fight (so as to not break the mood) is very well done.
