My problem with the second disc was the way the story was told. Not the lack of gameplay. You can visibly tell that they were rushing it at that point. I still love the entire game regardless but the second disc was a disappointment.
I also wasn't too crazy about all of the characters in the...
Grand Theft Auto III
I can't be bothered to do this in too many games. I understand trying to beat difficult optional bosses and getting ultimate weapons in RPGs but why would you waste time getting every single item, max stats, etc. when you could just be playing a game you haven't beaten?
I just played through this game for the first time recently. Simply put, what an amazing game. As I said in another thread, the only thing keeping it from being as good as Final Fantasy VII is the mediocrity of the second disc.
The plot was near perfect throughout the first disc. It kept me...
A bunch of PS1 classics: Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII (second copy), Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Final Fantasy Anthology, Tekken 2, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Just started playing this yesterday and I love it so far. The experience system is unique and I like how it makes you want to get attacked so that you can build HP.
I'm currently working on my first play-through on the PSX version. Man is this tough. I almost gave up when I first started playing it. However, it's definitely grown on me and I love how the game is extra focused on strategy. You really have to conserve spells/items and grind to complete...
The characters are what make this game. Easily the best characters of any Final Fantasy game. Amarant is probably my favorite. I love his personal philosophy.
I'm playing the PSX version of Final Fantasy (the first one) and it's pretty punishing. The dungeons are pretty difficult and I've had to grind to get past each one of them so far.
I haven't played XI and I haven't played anything past XII. I'm willing to give XIII and XIII-2 a try but I have a feeling I'd be disappointed since I didn't like XII very much. I don't think the series should end but it would be nice to see them return to their roots in later games.
Well yeah but a "perfect game" is more ambiguous in (at least older) RPGs. I personally think it's a waste of time to get 99 of every item possible, max stats, etc. when I could just be playing a game I haven't beaten yet. It's fun to do sidequests, find characters' ultimate weapons, and...
I've heard some people claim that the story is cliche. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's cliche but it definitely draws from past games, something they were aiming for anyway. I can't get enough of IX.
Why are you guys talking about games being remade over full-fledged sequels? Even though it would be cool to see FFVII remade, I like the original game just the way it is.
I saw Advent Children years ago and remember it being terrible. I haven't checked out any of the other spin-offs and...
Honestly, the only Final Fantasy game that has much more dark moments than light moments is FF7. This also has to do with the personality of most of the characters. Let's take a look...
*SPOILER ALERT*
A corporation sucking the planet dry of its resources.
Said corporation (Shinra) causing...
I think the main point for me is that it doesn't feel like Final Fantasy if it isn't turn-based. It's the central formula that makes Final Fantasy Final Fantasy. I guess you could make a point about the plots but it's hard to come up with an all-encompassing plot device that is common of the...
In this order (speaking only for the ones I've finished), FFVII, FFVI, FFIX, FFX, FFVIII. I really liked all of the stories in each of those though so it was hard to pick that order. FFVII's story is simply amazing and I still have yet to come across anything like it. It's really tough for me...
Completely agree with the OP. I'm not bothered by there being a remake of FFIII but I would have liked to have a chance to play the original.
I generally prefer PS1 or earlier graphics if I had to pick. I don't really care that much but NES/SNES/PS1 graphics have a more nostalgic Final...
I own FFVI, VII, VIII, IX, X-2, and XII. Used to own multiple copies of X but they've since been lost/broken. As I said in a previous thread, I just ordered all the PS1 compilations of the NES/SNES FFs. :busta:
