FFI: Love it or Hate it?

I've never played the original version sadly. ): But I have played the PSP remake and the GBA remake as well, and those were very solid games! ^^ Sure they were a bit light on the story, but the gameplay made up for them. Haha, I actually prefer this game to FFXIII and FFXIII-2 combined! True story

As much as i liked I i kinda still enjoyed XIII and XIII-2 cause they actually had a really good story to tell... I played the psp remake which is basically the same as the original just remastered with a few new dungeons in it.... i really enjoyed it... till the psp broke... didnt get to beat it but i made it pretty far

I loved it granted i played the ps1 version but i enjyed it enough to play two times. I give it 100, is for a reason that saved Square from bakruptcy.

Well... I dont like that you have a random battle each step but I will have to give this game another chance on the psp version. At the moment I feel neutral about it and I do not hate it because I know it is a classic, the first of its kind, innovative for its time and a mere prototype.

More leaning toward "love", but I definitely like the game.

I mean, it's the first Final Fantasy. It set the foundation for the rest of the series for 20+ years. It's not perfect, but that's surely okay. We, the fans, appreciate Hironobu Sakaguchi for his creativity and dedication.

I'm currently working on my first play-through on the PSX version. Man is this tough. I almost gave up when I first started playing it. However, it's definitely grown on me and I love how the game is extra focused on strategy. You really have to conserve spells/items and grind to complete dungeons unlike most of the later titles in the series. I'm definitely coming to love this game but for different reasons than why I normally love Final Fantasy games.

I just got the Final Fantasy Origins in the mail today and started playing FFI. The fighting is kind of a pain in the ass. And when I tried to make my way to Garland I got my ass handed to me as soon as I entered that Temple of Chaos. So for the time being I'm just running around and trying to level a little bit.

I can't help but love this game. I take what I can from it, and the biggest thing this game has going for it in 2013 is the level of difficulty it offers. I also really like grindy RPGs, and FFI lets you be very, very grindy.

I love this game. I love how basic it is and how it's a bit of a challenge. Like someone else said, it's grindy. That's ok though, because that's what an RPG should be. You shouldn't just walk through the game without having to level at all, otherwise there would be no point in a leveling system being there at all.

I do however see why people wouldn't like it now. There's no story worth mentioning. There are no stand out soundtracks (other than the basic FF tunes that are probably in most FF games). The characters have no substance. The battles are as simple as can be. However, I can forgive all this because it was the first FF, so there was some necessary playing around and they didn't know that they needed to add extras yet. It was interesting enough because there was no competition making a better RPG.

...that's my 2 cents on it anyways :)

This game has been on my bucket list to beat for a long time now. I'm at Chaos of course and no I have not beat him. Though I've only tried him once. He bs'd me due to my protect went down without me knowing and pretty much one shot my Master. I have pretty much all the end game weapons.. and I have quite a bit of items. I know I can just out level the bastard, but I prefer to stay around the 40's.

Back in the day I played this game when it first came out on NES. I thought it was the most spectacular game of it's time, hence my nostalgia when getting back into it. Back in the day though I got up to the point where you can get the Air ship and boom my game gets wiped some how from the NES. (grrrr) that left like 20+ years of bad taste in my mouth, so I told myself I wouldn't beat it.

Well knowing me at the age of 29, I'm about to take down the ole Chaos. I could go and beat the 4 elements, but that would be a cake walk at this point. Anyway.. great game. They redid the music I saw. So the remixed music sounds great. The simplistic view of this game, and the fact you can prestige near end game was very original. To be honest it shaped many Jrpgs to come.

Well I truly feel like there should have been a "Like it" option because that's what I would have chosen. I do not hate this game, far from it. But I'm not in love with it either. I could pick like five other FF's that I enjoyed more. FFI isn't going to be on my favorite games of the series list. But considering when this game was made and the limitations for Square at that time, I can definitely see how groundbreaking and important it truly was. I was playing through with the Warrior, Black Belt, White Mage and Black Mage and beat it in a couple of days. Even though it had it's moments of pure agony and frustration (Marshe Cave and Chaos), I feel the fun parts definitely outweighed the not so fun parts^_^

I actually love this game so much its freakin awesome. Ive only played it on easy but im sure that that is enough of a challenge for me. I heard normal was brutal and getting through dungeons was tough. Overall I liked the pace of the game and one must recognize that it was a trailblazer of a game and set a precedent for all future final fantasies to come. Sure it was rough around the edges but it was one of the first of its kind. And it is still fun to play after all this time haha

It was tremendous! It did for rpgs what Street Fighter did for fighting games. I loved the fact that you could pick any combo of classes. I wouldn't dare try the 4 white mages though. lol
