I agree with most of the people here. Final Fantasy VIII probably had the least character development for me though. I really would've liked more development in XII, which is probably the reason I can't get myself to finish the game. I'll note from a few other games...
Final Fantasy VII -...
My least favorite is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the GC (I haven't played the other CC's so I don't know if those have improved).
From what I remember you played it with a game link cable to your Game Boy Advance right? Yeah I didn't like that at all, plus you had to carry around that...
I'm playing Final Fantasy 3 (DS) and I've started to do a perfect file on Final Fantasy VII today.
I'm not very far in FFIII, I'm just past the Tower of Owen.
It's hard to choose, I like every world. I would have to say between X and XII. Spira is beautiful and I'd love to be able to go watch a Blitzball game (which I thought was a brilliant mini-game), but Ivalice was almost equally beautiful.
I don't really have many people around me that are into gaming period, let alone play a decently hardcore game like Final Fantasy. Those that do play things are like Halo or Call of Duty cause those are the "manly games." XD
Final Fantasy XII - I really tried to play and beat this game, twice, and failed each time.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - I remeber getting this game and not knowing what the heck I was doing.
Halo 3's XBL - I'm one of the biggest fans of the Halo universe, but I just cannot STAND playing...
I like every character in their own way, but the two I voted for was Magus and Ayla. I really liked Ayla's personality and strength in battle, and the same with Magus.
Not really working on it right now, but the most current Final Fantasy I've played is Crisis Core. I'm at the part . I'm kinda stuck there right now. =/
I'd say I'm a mix between Zidane's laid back attitude and willingness to help anyone in need, and Paine's quiet, sheltered personality because she doesn't talk very much and puts up a wall to distance herself from everyone.
