I voted Awesome ...
Okay, the graphics are dated and I find that the controls are frustrating at times.
But, there's a deep and well plotted story, that I didn't fully understand the first time I played (Giving it replay value).
There are plenty of side-quests and hidden items/materia etc to...
The ending to FFVI is one of my favs in the series ... with such a large cast of playable characters it's great to see that they all have a little bit to do.
It added a little more depth to the characters and also added a fun and uplifting ending to the game.
My first was FFVII - which I'd borrowed off a friend and liked it so much i had to buy it.
My favourite ... I'm always torn between FFVI, VII, VIII & IX ... depends which I'm playing at the time I think.
I guess FFVII gets me feeling nostalgic when I play it so if I really had to pick just one...
I'm still a little disappointed with the film but I feel it acts as a footnote to FFVII.
The Gaia theory in FF:SW adds more depth to the idea of the Lifestream in FFVII.
As for no links to the FF game ... doesn't Aki wear pajamas with a Chocobo on ... and I'm sure that the Japanese...
I've played and completed all but FFXII most of them 2 times now ... I've been playing them all through again and have just completed FFV.
I've never played FFXI and not too interested in doing so.
I like them all except FFX - which I found very dull and boring ... but I've only played it...
Supernova!!! Yes! Thanks, I'd forgotten ... like I said, been a while since I played it. :)
I'm currently playing FFV and just arrived on Galuf's homeworld ... I wonder if that's Earth too ... Just joking!!! :P
Are you sure FFVII isn't set on Earth?
It's been a while, but during the final battle with Sephiroth when he summons Meteor doesn't it destroy half of our solar system and then the solar flare hits Earth? (Where I believe the story takes place) I'm sure the planets are named as it passes them.
I don't believe all the games exist in the same timeline and on the same world.
However, a few of the games do make reference to previous games in the series.
Just off the top of my head ...
FFIII mentions the Light warriors from the first game.
FFVIII saw the return of Gilgamesh from FFV...
I loved the FMV intro to FFII remake on the Playstation ... and I like the original intro with the party being cut down by the Imperial troops ... really drew me in when I first played it.
Shame about the gameplay tho :(
