Gabranth hands down. I don't think he's evil more an anti-hero than anything else. He looks awesome and fights awesome though I'm not too fond of his armor. Ghis has the best armor. I always liked how Gabranth and Drace watched over Larsa so much.

There's masamune in the game? I'm not to far, only to Raithwall's tomb so I don't know how many weapons are available to me at the moment but I haven't seen any katanas.

I'm thinking about doing that and giving Vaan a katana but since I have no idea where to get one I'll have to wait. I probably should have given them all different weapons but I'm a sword kind of person and I didn't want to not give Basch a sword.

I was gonna buy it until they revealed that it would be a DS. I don't like DS and since it will not have the gorgaous graphics the first one had I really don't have any reason to buy it anymore.
