[04/07] PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIV Introduces the "Cross Hot Bar" Interface

Square Enix isn't just porting over the PC version of Final Fantasy XIV to the PS3. The interface is being totally redone for PS3 players, Famitsu reveals this week.


The PS3 version uses an all new interface called "Cross Hot Bar" (in Japanese, "クロスホットバー" -- if you have a better Romanization suggestion, do suggest it). We don't have specifics just yet.


Famitsu seems to have a full staff Q&A for FFXIV this week, so we may get additional details later.

Interesting. If i could afford to, i would play this game. Hopefully this game has improved alot.
 
I just feel that it has been to long since the bombshell of it's debut that I have lost any interest of this PS3 version of the game. Yes it would be cool to have a FF MMO again on console...but the pricing scheme...and the fact that your now actually getting the legit version is quite upsetting because it has been a long time for PC players to be able to play something that is well unplayable.

Well either way I hope that the PS3 version gets some credit for trying the MMO market again on consoles and I hope for the sake of FFXIV that it does well when it becomes what it was meant to be from the on set.
 
I've always wanted to try out the FF MMO's, but the monthly fee's always ruins it for me. I don't see much sense in shelling out $60 for a game just to pay $10+ extra every month to get some enjoyment out of it.
 
A better deal is free so it can seem like a better price....wonder if this game will also run on ps4. Hopefully it will.

By "re-done" what they probably mean is "we're going to make it a fusion between White Knight Chronicles and Dragon Age 2" or something similar. I find it VERY hard to believe they'll build an entirely new interface from scratch; that just isn't Square Enix's style. It lacks the cutting of corners.
 
Who says they started from scratch. Never played white knight chronicles but who knows, it could be a fusion of the two. Sounds interesting though
 
Even if its Final Fantasy and Sony I'm still not paying a monthly fee to play a (most likely stupid) MMO or whatever this is. The controls will probably be extremely stupid as well, and that annoys me. :C
 
Your own assumptions annoy you? I think se is doing their best to make this work. If ffxi was a hit then so can ff14.
 
I played it before. I got a BETA from a FF14 site I, basically, was religiously watching a long time ago. The controls were stupid and it annoyed me, nothing about assumptions was made here. Others feel the same. Why, you can go to youtube and see the countless comments about it. I doubt 14 can be any near XI's level of "acceptance" to fans. Its already left a terrible taste in FF and MMO fan's mouths. And the recent patches aren't helping to improve the player's opinions much.

Most MMOs have annoying controls too, so its nothing against SE, just most MMOs. ;)
 
They seem fine to me for feneral mmo but regardless i feel we ae assuming too many things sich as patches being useless. We dont know yet.
