[1/18] A Blurry Look At Final Fantasy XIII-2 And Lightning’s New Rival [Update]

I do NOT like how Lightning looks with that new armor outfit.
I hope they have an option to wear her old costume with like Save game Data from XIII.

Speaking of save game data, I wonder if there will be any bonuses for completing the first one.

and maybe this time around we'll get some DLC from the PSN to go with it.

I think she looks ok, but I'm not a fan of the legs showing, It seems as if they're going to try and sell it off like x-2. I don't see how it'll fit in the setting of xiii either, it looks like a completely different game from what the little bit of the trailer that I saw, but reading this made my day (night) and I can't wait for this game.

yes but this isn't usually how final fantasy games work. We're used to them being non sequels.
other games were made for sequels like assas creed, not FF games D:
That's not really what we're talking about but, ok. There's been multiple Final Fantasy sequels throughout the years. This isn't really something new. Final Fantasy XII had Reverent Wings, XI had numerous ad-ons, X had X-2, VII has had prequels/sequels, IV has The After Years. Not to mention the spinoff sequels.

Just thought I'd throw this out there:

By overlaying two images, one from the commercial version of the first title (FF XIII) and one from the teaser (FF XIII-2) , FFDream has come to the conclusion that this man is not so unknown that. Cid Raines will be the companion of Lightning.

Speculation of course.

I'll need another look at that trailer to see for myself how plausible that is. If Raines is to somehow show up again this time, it will hopefully compensate for his disappointing show in the first game,
being essentially killed off twice, the second time being such an anticlimax of writing him off
.

By the looks of the trailer it doesnt seem like this new guy is Cid Raines. I dont want him to fail once again. He had so much potential in XIII
but was rather killed off fast. Twice even
It looks to me like this guy isnt a villian but rather just a rival who might join the party later on.

I did say I thought the dude looked kind of like Raines :lew:

Though I still have reservations at the guy being Raines (I still want him to be Odin >3>). I wouldn't mind actually seeing Raines again, if that was somehow possible.

He came off a little gary stu, but I still liked him. Though they way he was handled in the plot did disappoint me. Better to have never saw him again after Chapter 10 if that was the only reason why we saw him again (plus it was never completely explained how it was possible X_x).

Most of her legs are showing in FFXIII, in case you forgot. :P

Bah..it's obvious this isn't Cid.

I wonder who it is.

I wonder too, if this guy isn't her rival but her lover.

It's obvious she needs one.
I suspect if this is her lover that will turn off some of the male fans who prefer her not have one.
But I feel a lover would be a good thing for her.
Just my opinion.

True, but the way they made her legs show in that was more...natural? Like you expect to see legs with a skirt on, you know? Just a bit sex appeal doesn't really matter to me, but I think that the way they did the armor just screams it out to loud.

I tend to enjoy characters with sex appeal.. *Shot* I have been a fan of the spin-off games, and it's pretty apparent I am a fan of X-2 (And Dirge of Cerberus for that matter.) I didn't really like XIII as much as I've liked the other games in the series, but, I cannot say for sure, until I play this one. And personally, a lover would be great for her, as ANGRYWOLF said, in my opinion.

Loving the costume, even though it's a bit showy, lol. This seems interesting already... and I liked the idea of a love interest. (MAN TIFA/ AERIS? lol) Maybe I won't hate another sequel....

New scans yo

The line in Light's poster reads “In the world where I once existed, time’s path is no longer certain.” So what could this mean? It's not taking place on Pulse? A new world maybe?

The line in Noctis' poster is too blurry to make out..

Well no. If you read Final Fantasy XIII episode I you would understand. Lightning ends up in a totally mysterious trap of some sort. So XIII-2 is taking place from where she left off.

Rawr :wacky: Put your claws away kitty, I didn't read Episode 1 nor do I give a crap. I'm just speculating by what I post, so be nice. :monster:

I guess at least they kept kinda true to Light's character design, the hair's the same, and those feathers are only on one side just like her cape from the original game.
I think the armor is a huge overkill of character design. She looks like she won't be moving very quickly in that get up. It all looks too bulk and heavy. and I thought as a "female cloud" they were trying not to push sex appeal with her, I just seen a side ass shot in that trailer, that seems like sex appeal to me. I don't think she really needs any, unless she coming more into herself this game. I'm assuming this rival will be a love interest as well as like Arch enemy.

wow, after watching the trailer again, people made WAY more out of the sex appeal thing. Side ass shot? They never draw attention to it, NOR is it like all in your face or even meant to be sexual. I seriously think people just want to complain about something because its FFXIII. The way people are talking is like she is the new Yuna for FFX2

It's not really "in your face", but it's probably there for sex appeal. There's no way they made the armor like that just cause.

Not complaining though, XIII is actually one of my favorite games, it just doesn't seem much like Lightnings character to me.

lol, if I hadn't been aware of all this already, those scans would've been a fan overload xD

What's this Episode I thing? How do I get access to it? O.O

The feathers kind of cover her bum, so the idea of modesty is there, but...not really enforced :wacky:

Though at the same time, I don't think Lightning dear is being sexed up. I found the feathers and armour covering most of her body more eye catching than a side bum shot :lew:

The armour seems to be covering her body, but her joints seems feel to more with relative ease. I don't think she would have trouble moving around in battle. Maybe not the flips she did in battle, but I'd imagine she could still be pretty nimble.

And of course, realism in video games? lolwut :monster:

It's a novelization of the epilogue taking place after the end of FFXIII. Google it or go to final fantasy wiki for more info.

If Lightning is going to be in another dimension for the whole of the game, then I think it will be quite a disappointment. We may not be able to get to play Sazh and Serah or even see them. All the beauty of pulse and possibly undestroyed parts of cocoon may be absent too >_>

Let's hope this mysterious dimension thingy is something better than pulse.
