Famitsu: hey world, we have a new Square-Enix game announcement!

Everyone else: (unenthusiastically) we don't care. They've probably just made another crappy new social game for PC browsers or iOS in five minutes.

Famitsu: no, they just announced a new Drakengard game.

Everyone else: I wish they'd bugger off and make real games ag - wait, what?

Famitsu: yeah, Drakengard 3!

Everyone else: ...lemme guess, for iOS?

Famitsu: nope. For PS3.

Everyone else: X_X

An action RPG, the sequel stars female protagonist Zero, who has a younger sister named One. Zero is an Utautai, a person with the ability to manipulate magic through song. A flower grows on her right eye, and her left arm is an artificial one. She doesn’t mind having a relationship with a number of men. She has a violent personality and is easily annoyed.

One is also an Utautai, however, her personality is completely opposite her sister’s, who she doesn’t get along well with. She is intellectual and serious.

Thanks, Gematsu

The game sure sounds like a hard M-rated game. Blood apparently remains on character clothing and skin (ties in with gameplay too I guess), Zero is a liberal minded woman who is open to sexual relations with multiple partners, the visual themes in the game appear to be "erotic" and "bloodstained", etc. [TAKEN FROM NEOGAF]

“It’s not Drakenguard or Nier,” said creative director Yoko Taro. “If you’re expecting that, you’ll be disappointed.”

No release date announced. Development is at 60%.

Square Enix brought together team members from the Drakengard series and Nier to make Drakengard 3.

Thanks Siliconera for that snippet

so it's drakengard... but it's not drakengard. Wat?

She doesn’t mind having a relationship with a number of men. She has a violent personality and is easily annoyed.

i don't know what to say to that :wacky:

was having heart palpitations when I read the title :gasp:

I AM SO HAPPY THEY ARE RELEASING IT FOR PS3 SO SO SO HAPPY
L is right though. If it's not Drakengard or Nier... how is it Drakengard 3 8(

Its possibly in the same world of drakengard but not following the story of it. Hopefully the "3" gets dropped unless they want to move drakengaurd 1 and 2 onto PS3. Is it me or does anyone else prefer its japanese name? Drag-On Dragoon. I might try this one out. Depends whos the one making it. The character reminds me of the one in Bravely Default. On another note on the characters, they seem to stay true to certain things of Drakengard. The original had a cannibal, incest-like relationship, and a pedophile that was partially removed from the english version. The art also resembles Drakengard, but overall the story and gameplay is what counts.

[15/03] Drakengard 3 website has been opened, Also debut screenshots

Taken from Gematsu.

Square Enix has opened the official website and shared the first screenshots of Drakengard 3, or Drag-On Dragoon 3 as it’s called in Japan, its newly announced PlayStation 3 sequel in development at Access Games.

The site currently has pages detailing the story, characters, system, and specifications. Find the story summary below.

In the distant past, the dark ages swept the world with wars and tyranny, and the Utautai goddesses appeared before its suffering men. With the ability to manipulate magic through song, the goddesses subdued the world’s feudal lords and peace was brought to a rough earth. The goddesses were revered as Utahime (songstress), and were entrusted to govern the world.

The Utautai known as One has a strong will to bring peace and stability to the world. She is the person who will unite the goddesses and stand on top of the world. But one day, her older sister Zero appears before her with a dragon. Zero, too, is an Utautai, and the strongest of their kind. Why did Zero appear before One? Why does she fight alongside a dragon? What exactly are the Utautai? Dark clouds hang over the world once more.

Drakengard 3 is due out for PlayStation 3 this year in Japan.

My thoughts after seeing the screenshots? My jaw hit the floor. Simply from the amount of blood the man character is covered in and the bright colors that are displayed. I have never played a Drakengard game but from seeing this game it looks as if im going to have to purchase them immediately Post thought or anything you would like to add below.

Am I the only one who didn't think much of the older games? I mean the gameplay was fun, unfortunetly it got abit repetitive. The storyline was messed up though and had tons of wasted potential.

Either way, I did enjoy them somewhat, and here's hoping the next one improves. I wonder though if this will end up being localized...
