as you know, thelightning dlc DLC gets released in japan today and therefore a trailer has been released.

Watch the trailer below, as the dlc looks epic as hell :P

So I'm guessing this DLC will explain how Lightning got the state she was in at the end of the game?

I don't know, guess I will have to wait and see as I don't understand Japanese. Roll on the actual English Trailer, with Engish voices and such :D.

Looks good. Doesnt really look any different gameplay wise, but Im definitely up for more story stuff

Do people even know what epic means, anymore? Pretty sure unless its an entire game- DLC by definition isn't epic.

How can a cinematic not be labeled epic just because it is DLC? That makes no sense. Either buy it or dont, if you dont like DLC. I dont like it much either, but Id rather see more of the story and pay for it then not.

because dlc is normally not a lot of content. my comment has nothing to do with liking or disliking dlc.

DLC can be fairly significant. Plus, something that is short, can still be insanely epic. I agree with you though about length speculation. From all the talk, I felt like it would be 2 hours long or something, but I bet it will be 30-45 mins tops.

I have played half of it. Great new gameplay mechanics, I can say.
But the problem is, after reducing his HP to 0, the game refuses to continue in terms of the DLC story. It only lets you replay the battle. :hmmm:
Did I do something wrong, or that there are certain requirements to this.

But overall, I didn't get too disappointed by it as I thought I would.

It looks like - what? - the hundredth fight you have with Caius, only the second time you use Lightning. Is this supposed to be exciting? Hasn't this guy been beaten in battle more often than Team Rocket? I can't tell, because I never made it beyond a few minutes of FFXIII-2 on a bad day before I put the controller down and went to make dinner.

If this is the last DLC (or so they say), I suppose a FFXIII-3 will probably be imminent somewhere on the horizon. So not content with having one sequel, there will probably be a threequel. Good grief, are we at this for another few years to come? Seeing as I've mostly retired from gaming nowadays with what's going on in my life, I have no reason to care anymore about what they do. They can have Versus pushed back again thanks to FFXIII-3 for all I care, and the incandescent rage of the internet will be fun to watch.

Much as I love FFXIII, and much as I'll defend it to the death...this just looks like another fight with Caius with the added benefit of starting off with Lightning with a ridiculous amount of HP+abilities, and Army of One as some kind of Limit Break. I really hope there's more to it than this, but trailers are supposed to show the best of the upcoming content. Regardless, I'll reserve judgment for now.

I'm kinda with Mitsuru. :sad3: I was really hoping for something more story-based (though I had suspected it would primarily be a battle).

I'm still rooting for a XIII-3. Each piece of DLC has been rather short and none of it has provided a particularly complex side-story to expand on and/or complete the plot of XIII-2, though I could be wrong and find out that Lightning's DLC wraps it all up quite nicely. :hmmm: I really would like them to do this story justice; it does have a lot of potential! However, they should release Versus XIII first! :lew:

*GAMEPLAY SPOILERS (no specific story spoilers)*

Oh well, I think it has good story parts, but some of them are so damn confusing... It's as if the writers think what they are doing is complex, but to me it's starting to look like a giant mess :(. I find it hard to link the main story to what is happening in the DLC. Some makes sense, some dont.

The thing is, as I said, I am stuck because there seems to be some kind of requirement to beat Caius properly. But I have read rumors from other forums that the story that follows after the battle is even more inconclusive and confusing...

Anyway, the gameplay of this DLC, to me, is kinda fun. It's different from the previous Caius battles. You really need very fast reaction times. Lightning's new roles are rather an improvement to the 6 existing roles IMO. An improvement to the use of wounds upon the enemy too. They should keep and further improve on this if there is ever an FFXIII-3.

It works like those minigames you often found in the internet. The ones where you can upgrade your stuff every day, to get better. You get CP after every battle. In other words, Lightning gets stronger over time as she accumulates CP and level up. This allows her to be stronger for the next (in fact, an identical battle) battle. There's a 'high score' thingy, where it shows your best score in this battle. Lightning will learn new roles and abilities from levelling up.

If you don't get what I mean, it works rather similar to this game:
http://www.notdoppler.com/earntodie.php
(just substitute the zombies with Caius. The distance travelled in this case will be the score you get after each battle. The money will be the CP, which allows level up).

It seems that if you reach a certain score benchmark (or do certain things in the right manner), a different scene will appear after you beat Caius. This will allow you to continue in the story.

Soo... if you like this minigame genre, I dare to say that this particular DLC is worth it, especially if you are comparing your scores online or with friends.

This is the game's last dlc and I swear to God if they make a FFXIII-3 my head will fucking explode.
Be done with it. Mediocre bubblegum shite.
Even though I never played it. So you praisers wont have to take me seriously.. Yall never did, but mark my words a third game will piss me off!

TIME. FOR VERSUS!

Not late news, but late trailer by itself:
