Nintendo has just decided to drop a bomb in today's Nintendo Direct event. Aside from announcing that the peasants here in Europe will receive Shin Megami Tensei IV sometime in the near future (hopefully), and Mother/Earthbound for the Wii U Virtual Console, they've also decided to announce the westward release of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for North America and Europe.

According to the presentation, Europe and Australasia gets it later this year. Yes. This is apparently happening.

North America? You guys are stuck with 2014. I know, right? It kind of stings.

Nintendo will publish the game, as opposed to Square-Enix. This sort of makes sense considering how absolutely reluctant Square-Enix seems to be at the moment in supporting their handheld endeavours in the west. So why not delegate the work to Nintendo? Maybe Dragon Quest VII will follow, who knows?

DISCLAIMER #1: At this point in typing, neither sites state that Europe will supposedly get the game earlier than North America. NeoGAF has assured me that this is the case, so waiting for the two sites to update again.

DISCLAIMER #2: not copy and pasting news information is very do-able, guys.

the EU Nintendo direct did state a 2013 release for the game, I just got to say....

HOW DOES IT FEEL AMERICA, having to WAIT

Oh Minato Arisato you've gotta be pissed about this. We thought it was gonna come over here this year. :( You are in America right? :ahmed: Anyway, at least it's confirmed to be released out here in America, we've just got to wait a bit for it. We'll have other games to hold us over until then. Hopefully Bravely Default lives up to the hype.

trailers for both regions, 2013 release for Europe confirmed

Aww man, those trailers are totally awesome. It looks like it's gonna be a really great game. I absolutely love how the battles look. It looks kinda like old school PS1 games, which is really hella dope. This game has plenty of potential to be awesome. Hopefully the story and all that stuff is good too. Oh well, now American's must wait. :lew: It's gonna be cool

Honestly, I am happy both are going to get the game but I am not crying that NA is going to get it in 2014 because there are so many better games I am looking forward to. I have pokemon x and y which I will probably play much more than Bravely default in all honesty. My 3DS is going to be sticking with Pokemon for a very long time come x and y. There are also other 3DS games I am looking forward to as well. So Livi, while you think this is an "in your face North America message" I could not care less about it being a year later. I will probably be too busy with University in the coming years and playing other better games in 2014. I have not been stung one bit. Just remember... I am not exactly a North American :monster:

You can be nice and tell me how orgasmic the game is when you get it though!

But seriously, why is Europe first? :sad3:

Retribution for Europe getting the shaft for so long, so cosmic imbalance is being addressed? :edd:

Plus it probably means British voice acting. Excellent.

EDIT:

So Livi, while you think this is an "in your face North America message" I could not care less about it being a year later.

Good for you.

But I've seen some comments online about how awful it is that we're getting it first. Such injustice indeed. :edd:

I find it ridiculous to wait to 2014 for such a low res game. KH3D came to US right away. Nintendo seems to stall their own games

Could be worse. Better late with Nintendo than possibly never with Square-Enix, given how utterly disinterested in localising this they seemed to be. :monster:

Okay, that didn't apply with DQ Monsters: Terry's Wonderland unfortunately, but here's hoping DQVII makes it in a similar fashion.

Well, since the game uses AR, has a bunch of text, and is almost fully voiced, it's gonna take a long time to localize.

Good - now tell me if we're going to get the same damn beautiful limited edition box that Japan got. I'm up for anything with pretty and cute fairies, such as the white one who follows Link around in Zelda. :kelly:

Well, of course the game has to be good, too, and all we've heard from Bravely Default are good things...so give me that box. :ryan: Seriously, I've never bought anything so serious like a box set or director's cut video game before, but I will do it for this game. I haven't been too serious about video games in general ever since FF has gone a little...has gone on a little secret hiatus. This is something to look forward to, for once in a long time, so I definitely wanna make it special, especially with such a pretty name (fairy) and pretty things in it (fairies).

But, aside from fairies, I'm very happy and proud of this decision. Since the first day news came out about this game, we've all been wanting it and they've finally confirmed that it will be headed our way. :)
