What? Another trailer? You guessed it. This one has Lightning changing costumes, creepy music, and a mad Noel.

Square Enix have launched a new trailer for comic con called "13 days"

A new arena called the "Slaughterhouse" is also present. It is described as a brutal fighting tournament and is held every night.

New to Lightning Returns is the ability to destroy certain parts of an enemy(cut off the tail, etc). Square Enix have stated that the enemy will be severely weakened, and that cutting off sections will yield greater rewards for the player. Lightning also has the ability to counter an enemy attack, which will stagger the enemy if timed right.

This new counter attack depletes a huge amount of the atb gauge so be sure to use it wisely. It will have no effect on magical attacks.

Noel seems to be totally screwed up by the Chaos. His voice sounds different, and he wants to kill Lightning. He commited the "ultimate sin"

I feel like Square Enix is giving too much away in these trailers. Anyone else agree?

I don't know if they're giving too much away. But the more I see the less I like. I really loved Noel's character, he was one of the reasons I so much preffered XIII-2. So if his character is totally ruined Imma be kina annoyed

I liked the story better when it was told at the 25th anniversary event. They gave a loose outline and I could conceive of a number of good ways to fill in the blanks. But none of those ideas I thought of are here--not even close.

And then there's the little ad for the preorder bonus. In a good ad for a good game, the screen would fade and everyone would stop screaming with excitement for a moment, only for the preorder bonus to appear and make them scream all the louder. But here it sadly just evokes a chuckle and a "is that supposed to tempt me, SE?"

the ending was rather short and didn't really "resolve" anything, but at the same time, instead of tieing loose ends, it just cut them. So whatever you see in LR, isnt something you're too excited to see...except maybe fang and vanille.

The XIII series was dedicated solely for advertisement and promotion, not to please gamers. XIII used the hook of it being a new FF on next gen. XIII-2 used the idea of playing as someone other than lightning but still being relevant and a completely new character. That and was promoted the heck out of for things such as these. And then, we had to find out (well....not me, but you guys) that the real ending was a DLC. And now LR:FFXIII.....the one that will most likely sell for the loose ends people think LR will cover, and the multiple outfits...

I'll give you that much. SE was pretty clear about XIII being a departure from the series in some ways specifically to draw in more western gamers. And yeah, if I get LR:FFXIII it will purely be to see what they do with the story, but right now I'm doubting I want to know. It might be better just to accept XIII-2's tragic ending as final than to see a happy ending that is in its own way far more horrible. I won't be preordering or anything, I can promise you that. I'll have to see some positive reviews before I pay money for it--otherwise I'll check out gameplay videos on YouTube to get the gist of what happens and call that good.

I love how they're doing a pre order bonus to have a Cloud outfit(which includes the Buster Sword), victory celebration, and battle theme for Lightning. Talk about being desperate. I was so fucking furious when I saw that picture of Lightning in a SOLDIER uniform.

This game looks worse and worse the more they show us of it. :/ I didnt mind XIII, and I really enjoyed XIII-2, but this one looks like an advertising campaign! All of the outfits for Lightning make the game feel very cheap... I really have no idea what they are thinking - how does this appeal to the fans of the series?

I do not mind change, but this one's not a good change!

I am inclined to do the same as Luke! I want to know what happens to Serah and Noel, but if this were any other game, I would not even consider buying it...so I think I'm going to hold back for a while. I'm not even sure this is worth the hours it will take to complete it. I could be wrong.

In summary, I am not remotely excited... Final Fantasy will always mean a lot to me, but the future of the series is not something I can feel passionate about. Even if 15 is good, I won't have the money or time for future systems. This was going to be my final Final Fantasy.

I'm getting the impression that now that XV is out in the open and everyone is excited for it and the PS4, SE is trying to just hurry up and finish this mess, and by consequence they're making it even messier. Honestly right now I'd be happy if SE cancelled LR and put that team on XV to speed up that game's progress. Both titles are more action oriented, so we don't need both as far as the battle system is concerned, and XV will undoubtedly be the better game. If they want to recoup losses on LR development, they should do so by stopping it now before it costs any more and make it up with XV. As it is, this is not going to please long-time FF fans, and newer FF fans will hate what they've done to Lightning. This game is going to sell abysmally...

...and SE will make another stink about how their sales aren't meeting high sales expectations when this doesn't sell along with another two games that might actually be quality and sell decent (Hitman and Tomb Raider, anyone?), and they'll sit back and wonder why this one didn't sell so well and meet fan expectations.

I predict this game will just be more fan service to those who just can't get enough Lightning. She looks awfully scantily clad in that one outfit, whore-ish, even...with her lady bits virtually falling out of her top in a stripper pose. Why even bother with clothes at all, SE?

I...can see myself enjoying this game . It may be garbage as an RPG, in terms of story, characters, soundtrack...and plenty of other areas. Even still, I just know that I won't be able to stop playing it until it's finished.

I agree entirely with what you said, great post! I just can't take SE seriously anymore and this is only contributing as to why they're a joke. Its amazing how a company that was so dominant and spit out classic after classic is now lost. Blows my mind.
What they need to do is set up a poll question or hell make a site devoted strictly for their fans and allow us to vote on what we want and voice our opinions on what they're doing wrong and what they need to be doing with the games, because clearly the majority of fans aren't happy with the direction of the games and they're too fucking clueless and obviously can't see that.
Just my 2 cents.

Final Fantasy XIII- A huge disappointment but it could of been worse.

A terrible end to the Final Fantasy XIII series. Why does SE seem to think that we only care about Lightning and that we are all obsessed with Lightning like some huge drug ? She was a terrible main lead and made me happy when she died in battles. She's just a mix between Cloud and Squall. She's nothing new. Stop it SE. Stop it.

If anything bad happens to Noel, Snow or anybody else .....I'll cry....

I dont mean about XIII-2. I do mean that this game is not meant to be long as XIII and may even be shorter than XIII-2. I feel like they are giving a bit too much away in terms of "story" I remember with XIII it was similar. SE would just release these trailers that would give some story details away.

I just feel like this game is going to be short and that watching all these trailers will give away too much. Of course that is just my opinion and nobody is inclined to agree with it.

Last I heard straight from SE the target completion time was 30 hours with multiple playthroughs practically required to get the best possible ending (like the Lightning DLC for XIII-2)

I have to say that after watching the gameplay of LR that it looks fucking nasty. I certainly haven't been a fan of the XIII universe but this game looks like it could be a legit badass entry to the series. Honestly I'm looking forward to when it comes out.
