I have no idea whether Fleur's post is serious or sacastic -__-

I think it's pretty clear by now what I really think of this. So yeah, that was one giant sarcastic post. I'm really sad like that. :sad3:

Strangely, I've no reason to rage about this at the moment, possibly because we all knew another game would be coming. And sadly because I'm not Martel enough. If anything, I'm just extremely apathetic at the moment. They can release whatever rubbish they want.

The only way this "new direction" can elicit any kind of interest from me is if they suddenly stop taking this so-called plot so seriously and just go totally wacky. Make a Nippon Ichi sort of game with chibi anime character designs, and just have fun with it, with all sorts of clever satirical humour and the ability to inflict a billion hit points of damage in battle with a giant mallet made of a dead Chocolina. Heck, I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Fleur you are a genius! Well written and I couldnt have written it better myself.

(almost wanted to ask if you'd marry me lmao)

Anyways I weep with you Fleur. Since we are all FF fans (cause this is a FF forum obviously) I want to ask you some questions.

If this turns out a full fledged game and releases before all the games we REALLY WANT are you still gonna support SE?
Or just wait till the games we want comes out. For me I dont really know I might just give up.

Im fed up.

To truthfully share my opnion, if this XIII-3 happens. It better be a FUCKING masterpiece. (Which I highly doubt)

It better feature Lightning CENTER-STAGE IN THE GOD DAMN SPOTLIGHT, and she better be kicking ASS. It better have some NON-LINEAR GAMEPLAY. Some EPIC cutscenes that just blow me out of my chair. There better be some actual damn new character development on existing characters. If it features the freaking Moogle from XIII-2 or any more bubbly-ass characters and ANY MORE dumb comic-relief filler, I will nuke the game out of the sky. The previous cast DAMN WELL BETTER GET THEIR ASS ON THE SCREEN and have more than pitiful five minute cameos, the graphics better be DAMN GOOD and not dumbed down like FFXIII-2 in order to cater to the Xbox 360's limitations. It better be a LONG-ASS GAME with some damn good battle scenes, with a dynamic battle system that makes me do more than press X and occasionally L1 and the D-pad. If it lacks even ONE of these features, I will be flipping shit and I may resort to some very strong alcoholic beverages to drown my sorrows in.

I will open my wallet if, like all reasonable consumers, I see something worth buying. If Square can come out with something decent, then yes, I will support them for that particular effort. May as well shell out for something that you find appealing than to simply boycott it in droves and leave Square thinking that it wasn't worth pursuing that particular strategy or direction, and that they're better off returning to something you never liked to begin with.

So yeah, if Versus turns out to be decent (though at this point, I've stopped caring about it for a while now), Square gets my support for that game, even if they dick around for a few more years and squeeze out another two more FFXIII games in the meantime. Sure, that would irritate me to hell, but hey, I'm a regular consumer.

(And meanwhile, Square is actually a pretty damn good publisher. I just got Sleeping Dogs and it's pretty decent. It's the Hong Kong open world game that was originally going to be a True Crime game, but Activision decided to abandon it, thinking it would never manage CoD's numbers in sales or something. So while I think Square Japan's been woeful lately, their western publishing arms have been great.)

EDIT:
Gabe - Good grief, dude. Overreacting much? It's not going to ruin your life. O.O

Final Fantasy XIII-2 traumatized me. There's no going back. This may create a better title, or make the XIII series worse.

I invested myself in XIII and approved of how it ended, then XIII-2 came out and wrecked me. It has created a large void in my mind that consists of nothing but the abyssal aftermath of XIII-2, that will never be filled by anything pleasant, unless this most likely XIII-3 impresses. But it won't be gone forever.

You know that feeling when you see something traumatizing like a dog get hit by a car directly before your eyes? That is how XIII-2 felt, but I can still manage to re-see it because it's not like I can un-see it. I have accepted its existence but won't appreciate it. It happened, and I can't change the past :'(

A Storm Is Coming. Lightning. 2+2 = 4. :ryan:

Anyway, I'm already not interested. Hell, I played XIII-2 for maybe an hour... then gave it up. I simply don't see this "saga" getting any better.

I would like them to announce the game now please haha or whatever it shall be. I doubt it will be next gen, if it is I will be buying the next xbox and playstation anyway. It needs to be a grand finale and not a hollow drag of a mess. I can see S-E making up for it, I mean look at FFXIV that is now looking really good after they re-done the entire game. They took feedback into FFXIII-2 and now they can look at that and give us 'Hopefully' a better game.

I can already see it; the big thread announcing "Final Fantasy XIII-4".

I hope this one can provide something for other players that couldn't get into the others, at least a small return to something old. Like a world map or something. Still would like to hear more about Versus, though.

This so much ^

I doubt it's going to offer to the older Final Fantasy fans because they didn't for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 so why bother for the 3rd ? Clearly, no matter how many tricks and wrongs SE does; people still buy the games.

SE makes Final Fantasy XIII-2 and promises a happy ending with Lightning smiling. It turns out to be a huge massive lie. Not a problem ! It just means that Final Fantasy XIII-3 is coming !

Come on Final Fantasy XIII fandom; wake up and smell the Moogle shampoo. If you enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII that's okay- but admit it, you're being used like a puppet to buy more games and pointless DLC clothes and things and you can bet that Square Enix already has plans for Final Fantasy XIII-4 and Final Fantasy XIII-5.

None other Final Fantasy fandom expect maybe Final Fantasy VII was put under this "sequel rush " when their favorite Final Fantasy came out. Final Fantasy XIII-3 is most likely not going to be the end that you believe that is going to occur; instead more and more FF13 spin-offs are going to spam out the SE gutter.

Why ? Because you're naive. I'm sorry if this sounds mean; but you're being so naive with all this. Wake up, and release that SE are putting strings around your arms.

Imo Final Fantasy XIII ended with Final Fantasy XIII.

.....Excuse me?

So we are suddenly being stupid and naive when we admit that we ENJOYED a game. and that we ENJOYED it's sequel and that we MIGHT ENJOY the next sequel?

It doesn't matter if their trying to pawn off DLC on us. We enjoyed the game. We didn't have to buy the DLC. We are not being naive. We are being normal by wanting to buy the next game because we enjoyed then rest.

FFXIII may have ended there for you. But calling the people who liked FFXIII-2 and want to buy FFXIII-3 naive is rude.

Sorry for snapping, but come on.

Well you guys are naive imo. I have to agree with her.

A continuation of FFXIII should be a game that compliments and expands the original. Yet I have heard many times FFXIII-2 has almost nothing to do with the first game.

LMAO dude Serah wtf? looks like spin off rather than true sequel? It completely flipped the story and only some elements from the mythos was inserted.

Monster party system dude FILLER aka pokemon.

A lot of left over content from the original game (areas surroundings etc. maps)

Weak soundtrack.

Bubbly girly theme.

Convenient time paradoxes.

AND YOU ENJOY that well I tip my hat sir.

There's no need to snap at me for my opinion and view on the matter. I mean I didn't say crap like " Ohh the FF13 fandom sucks " Or " Those stupid FF13 fans should go shoot themselves " or something negative towards the FF13 fanbase like that.

I only said that that Square- Enix is going to make you guys cash out for more and more money for these games and don't believe that Final Fantasy XIII-3 is going to be the ending title to the series because Square- Enix are most likely going to cash the series to it's full amount and the games are getting away with huge flaws because the FF13 fans are just going to buy the next game anyways.

There's a high chance that SE is just going to spam this series with 3DS games, PSP Vita games, FF XIII-4 and more.

I didn't mean to be rude or mean towards the FF13 fandom, just wake up because if you believe that FF XIII-3 to be the end of the series and Lightning's happily-ever after then there's a huge chance that the ending to FF13-3 is going to hardout disappoint you.

I'm sorry if my opinion has made you furious. But it's still my opinion and I don't think you should snap at me for that. Plus Naive and stupid do not mean the same things.

[And BTW I LOVED Final Fantasy XIII-2 when it first came out, it was amazing until the ending; if you can maybe search my earlier posts on FF XIII-2 I would be praising it like a godsend. ]

Sigh I knew that I should of stayed away from these forums for a another break..

Honestly ppl who dont want ff13-3 to be the end of ff13 series should probably get a grip. I think if it does end on ff13-3 fans will see there really wasnt much to it. Its basically astory about nothing specific that makes ff13 for what it is. I think if it ends on 13 yo should be happy it will end without a direct cliffhanger. And if it does then sorry to you. However its basically 60-40 here. And im mainly cointing those who are familiar with ff before 13. I think SE needs to move on with 13.

Hopefully its a spin off that gives vague answers to ff13-2 ending. And if it ff13-3 then i hope it is the last.

EDIT: It wouldve been better to make a compilation of final fantasy 13. So we can see more relation to the world of final fantasy 13. But instead direct sequels deviate even further from the ff13 mythos.

I've sorta likened to the idea of the FFXIII universe and "series" as a whole, so if the announcement on Sept. 1st relates to a FFXIII-3, I'll most likely anticipate the new title. *dodges rotten tomatoes*

At first, I absolutely HATED the notion of FFXIII because it seemed too non-traditional for the FF series. However, I gradually fell in love with the fast-paced && quite innovative battle system. I think the paradigm shift idea was so neat because it added a new layer of strategy to battles. Also, the storyline wasn't too bad and some of the characters were quite likable... Some work could've been done in that department, but hey, the writers (imo) successfully added a nice degree of drama/intensity within the plot and between the characters themselves, so I give them kudos for that. xD

FFXIII-2 seemed a bit silly to me at first as well. Serah's character never left any particular impression on me in the first game, so I wasn't sure what to think. However, I eventually grew to love her character, as well as Noel's character, who's pretty awesome considering he's a random new guy thrown into the FFXIII mix. I honestly don't have too many complaints about the game, probably because I didn't have particularly high expectations for it... ^^;

With that said, I seem to have a trend with new video games in general. I'm always reluctant to support a new game (for instance, Lollipop Chainsaw), but eventually, I get used to it. Every game has its flaws - I'm sure many people in this thread can attest to the flaws that they've seen within the FFXIII mini-series - but I prefer to appreciate the pros of a game and sorta overlook what may appear to be the cons. ^^;

However, I do agree that this whole FFXIII mini-series that Square-Enix has created should end, perhaps as a trilogy in the form of FFXIII-3. I really don't think that this universe should be milked any further than it already has (although I am a fan of DLC, including costumes/outfits, lol).

A movie would be interesting, as a previous poster had mentioned, but I'm not sure how likely that would be. I don't believe that FFXIII is on the same caliber as FFVII (even though I consider FFVII to be an overrated game/mini-series anyhow, lol).

My biggest beef with FFXIII's battle system is the lack of options. There's no depth. The idea of abstracting control with the paradigm system was interesting but at the end of the day you only had 6 paradigms to choice from so there weren't actually many choices to make. Every single battle could be won with the same strategy. And I mean every single battle. First buff/debuff, then focus on damage with some healing thrown in, and once the enemy is staggered go all with damage. There, I just described every single battle in the entire friggin game.

Oh, and then there's the stagger system itself. It's a fine idea, but in order to have it actually be important in regular battles they had to give even regular enemies tons of hit points (otherwise you could just kill them normally), which meant that even normal encounters could drag on and on and on. And that's without necessarily being any more difficult, just time consuming. How does anyone play this game without becoming bored to tears?

If only people thought like this:

"Buy the game if you enjoy XIII and part 2, Don't buy it if you didn't enjoy them. Final Fantasy isn't just a title that people have bought for the sake of the title, they weren't tricked by the developers into false belief of it being this good game that most of the forum members have depicted as fortunately. The game wasn't designed for everyone obviously, and the consumer shouldn't feel bad because of others opinions regarding the game unless you really think the critic of person who sits in front of their computer all day eating cheetos and sipping on redbull is indeed important."

I welcome everyones opinion but I just think we need to cool it down. Let's embrace this continued saga of Lightning, you're still going to get your Versus XIII and Type-0 so why all the hissy fit over this? You will have other countless of amazing titles to play before then, maybe even a part time/full time job as well to help you save up your money for the Collectors Edition of this title along with the future Final Fantasy titles.

Hopefully September 1st will solve all this fuss and make everyone just hush up once they're given a release date for this title and Versus XIII.

CPancer

Thats retarded to think that way. Half of Versus XIII's staff had to help with XIII.. Then FFXIII-2 which was another reason for Versus's delayment. Shit Versus went full development im 2011. Its obvious that they focused on FFXIII and its sequel more.

If Versus released before FFXIII-2 people like me wouldnt bitched at all or as much.
Versus first then FFXIII-3 if its the other way around you bet your ass I will bitch again.

FFXIII praisers bitch about its haters so basically you doing the same. Bitching.

@Ohri-Jin

I don't appreciate having my opinion referred to as mental disability, especially coming from someone of a mature age as yours. Like I said, Versus XIII is coming, it can't possibly make you that upset it hasn't been released yet while these sequals for XIII are coming into play.

I am going to have a laugh though if Versus XIII doesn't turn out well as others expected it to be, then everyone will be relying on Kingdom Hearts III, as that is also Tetsuya's upcoming developement once Versus is released.

The only issue I was bringing up was that everyone seems to be taking it negative about not getting a released date for the Versus XIII title, maybe i'm not as impatient as other but i'm definetely not complaining about it.

The lightning and darkness of the website's image makes me think of Versus funnily enough (seeing as that trailer was really dark and rainy). I wonder if it's actually Versus, and that Lightning makes an appearance in it...

I could be talking complete crap though :/

I'd love it, although it was stated from a resource that the approach they were going with on Versus XIII was less fiction...but again what's non-fiction about monsters and swords that you can manipulate into using as a shield?
