If they can make Versus a lot like reality, and balance it with fantasy elements well enough, it should be an instant hit. In that sense, most of us could relate to the reality aspect(s) of the game, while still enjoying the fantasy side we all know and love.
You're right, I misread it for some reason.
I guess the reality is the fact that from the look of the environment it's going to have a less sci-fi feel to it like XIII and construct it to look more modern, although i'm personally not a fan of wearing all black attire.
I will agree with you on the fact that some of the battles do become repetitive if you've found the right combination of paradigms to use, and "grind leveling" (or "grind crystogening?") was my least favorite part of playing FFXIII. However, you can't deny that the implementation of the paradigm shift into the battle system was an innovative idea. I believe it's highly customizable...
Although there's a limit of 6 paradigms per battle, there's still a good variety of combinations to use, and that's the part that I think is neat. And even though you may always use RAV-RAV-COM or COM-COM-RAV, your paradigm set-up may look different than mine depending on which characters you've used. Idk, I kinda thought that was a neat aspect that differentiated FFXIII's battle system from previous FF games. I guess you can overlook that if you feel the battles are too quick anyhow. xD
Also, I thought the stagger idea was pretty cool (although it's different than what was originally designed for this game, if you compare it to one of the first FFXIII trailers, lol). But it did become annoying in some battles where it was practically necessary to activate stagger in order to kill the enemy (ex. that turtle-like monster, ___beast. xD)

I have to say you must not be used to be on a forum or final fantasy forum for that matter? I would like to ask how old you are and how old you were when you played your first ff title and what title that was.
It cant possibly make me upset that Versus hasnt released yet? I waited six years, instead they focus on FFXIII way more. Ofcourse I am upset lmao.
They need to prioritize better. Its a good thing they want to cater to FFXIII fans but abandoning the other projects is another thing.
I havent played a single ps3 FF title, why because there isnt anything for me to play.
Its just a game you say. Thats why we joined a forum right? People are naive, hypocritical cause to me Final Fantasy was more than just a game .....but yeah these days I have to say it turned to "Its just a game".
Do you sit and wait for these games to be released? A game is a game, you play it to complete it, enjoy the storyline, take your mind off of the things happening around you. Do I care that Versus XIII hasn't made an official release time yet? Obviously not, especially when I have other things to occupy my time with. Remember it took a decade to release Diablo III, and i'm sure there were some people who assumed for the longest time that it would forever remain a ghost title, and it didn't. But like the developers they had wanted to focus on other games before releasing this title. If you rush things then they won't come out as successful, there is a valid reason why they continue to develope sequals for XIII, it could even link with the storyline of Versus XIII.
Ideas for a game aren't THAT easy to make, i'm sure the script and development of XIII was probably much more completed than that of Versus XIII. I don't think it was even a sudden decision to produce a sequal (possibly trilogy), I'm pretty sure they had this existing script that even included XIII-2 before the first one was released, hence why they had continued developing another videogame for it. Maybe if they weren't financially successful on XIII then they probably would have forgotten about it, or maybe send it to a portable handheld system.
I bet it wasn't pick and choose either, there is a valid reason why Versus XIII has waited so long to be released. I think even it's title says it all, there has to be some connection between Versus and just XIII and Type-0, they are all part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy right?
Anyways, i'm not impatient about this title to be released because I have other things to prioritize myself with and I know in the end the game is going to turn out incredibly good, just like XIII.

That is not correct sir. Originally it was supposed to be Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy yeah but why do you think Type-0 got a name change? It was supposed to be a sage of three games but Type-0 distanced itself from it.
After FFXIII was released they stated they had lots of content left that could have been a seperate game. THAT is the main reason why FFXIII-2 came to be. Script was probably made up within 2 years. Come on man Time paradoxes is a cheap way to make a story lmao.
Otherwise FFXIII-2 would have been about Lightning in the first place, but now she will star FFXIII-3. Do you see the patterns?
Im not literally waiting for Versus but on the other hand I can discuss about it especially on a Final Fantasy forum. I just despise the fact FFXIII got priority. Like I said many times before Im cool with the FFXIII sequels but I would like to see other projects as well.........
I can definetely agree with that, that's a fair statement.

Well more information is slowly being spilt towards the not far away announcement. I don't know why but the checkered background somewhat reminds me of the FFXII License board. I wouldn't mind if that actually returned to be honest, I thought it was a great concept.
