A Final Fantasy XIII-2 Ultimania Omega guide is in production at Studio Bent Stuff — which compiles the Ultimania and Ultimania Omega guides for Square Enix. The “super-guides” include a wealth of background information about the game, including concept art, developer interviews, and comprehensive guides through every game mechanic. The Omega edition will likely include information on the DLC that came post-release, but don’t be surprised if there are additional tidbits therein.A release date for the Final Fantasy XIII-2 Ultimania Omega has yet to be determined.

[11/05] Lightning Has the Cover Duties on Final Fantasy XIII-2's Ultimania Omega Guide

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will get its expected Ultimania Omega guide on June 21. Square Enix provided a look today at the cover, which features Lightning.

The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Ultimania Omega Guide includes over 200 pieces of artwork, complete with commentary from the art staff. You'll also find details on all the download content (perhaps helping to justify Lightning being on the cover). The book will also have staff interviews.

I don't see why this game needs a comprehensive, in-depth guide...I mean, it's not like it's even remotely difficult, or long, or has much content to it. Short of describing every cutscene in novel format or including the entire game script, this is going to be about as long as the normal guide is, even with 200+ pieces of artwork you could probably find anywhere and have probably seen a thousand times before and comments from people nobody has ever heard of before. It seems they're releasing one for the sake of completeness more than anything else.

Eh it's for the fans. I buy strategy guides that I dont even use sometimes just for the artwork, and having it in physical form is nice. If they released this stuff here Id buy it definitely.

I suppose the equivalent for Western territories is the Piggyback hardcover guides, and I have to admit those are extremely well-made; even the FFXIII one was very well presented. I can't see them ever releasing guides like that over here no matter how popular the idea could get though; translating that much text would take months.

Does attaching a greek letter to it make it sound more sophisticated or something?

Nah, it's just to signify it should be the last compilation of it.

I just wish that we would get those interview translations in the strategy guides here. But then again, Im not sure how well strategy guides sell. Like I said, I buy one for every major RPG. Most of the time I just use them to give me direction so I dont miss side quests, or I just buy it for the art and workmanship. I cant imagine a TON of people doing that.

From SE's FB page, this doesn't really deserve a new thread. They're releasing a new novella to tie in with their first one, Fragments Before, comes Fragments After, to talk about the stories of the characters behind the scenes, focusing mostly on Yeul, Caius as well as focus heavily on the story that wasn't told about Lightning in the game.

No idea, but it's likely not to be officially translated as the first one wasn't. You'll have to wait for fantran.

It most likely will stay Japanese exclusive, as always (except the curious case that is episode i).

Oh well, I wish there will be fan translations soon.

I feel like they are nickel & diming me just to get the full story/backstory. I got to buy the game, the guide, the accompanying story, the snow DLC, the sazh dlc, and the lightening dlc...

I find these novellas extremely annoying; it's worse than series that are released across multiple platforms where you have to buy every damn console on the market just to play them all. If anything these novellas are even worse, because they're never officially translated. What's the point in releasing the game at all if we're not going to get the full story? DLC I can overlook to a degree, because it's a standard tactic used by developers to milk even MORE money out of players (note I said I can overlook it, this does not mean I like it or even approve of it) but stuff like this? If they're going to do this, they should actually take the time to publish them everywhere else, and not leave it to the fans.

It surprises me, because they're missing out on a tidy sum by doing so, as well; we've got enough Halo, Mass Effect and Dragon Age novels running around to accompany the games. I know those are Western developed, but that's still no excuse for them not to translate the bloody things.
